This hotel is so cool! It hosted movie stars like Clark Gable, back in the day. And it has a well-maintained, vintage elevator with gate & door closure! Very cool! We loved the historic value of it. The courtyard was immaculately decorated with flowers, and little patio table vignettes for enjoying your continental breakfast in the fresh air. The little landing on the roof has a great view of the pier & ocean, too. The rooms are nice--a living area with flat screen TV, a nice bathroom, and a somewhat small bedroom with flat screen TV. I was surprised at the amount of furniture, too. Usually hotels give you as little space to put your clothing as possible, but not this one. =) And the living area & separate bedroom each have their own ceiling fans which keep the rooms nice and cool--no need for A/C (which it doesn't have). The bed was firm & the pillows soft, just my cup of tea! And each room has a window to allow the fresh sea breeze to welcome you. It's only a couple blocks to the pier, and is right in the middle of the main drag. Restaurants, and ICE CREAM, are next door & others within walking distance, too. The location is perfect, the staff is friendly--it's a great hotel. We...
Read moreThe hotel sits in the middle of everything. I like it because it was walking distance and if we needed to drop off our bags of goodies we just had to either take the old school elevator that reminded me of the the Disney Club 33 elevator or if I needed to get steps in on my Apple Watch. I can just go around the back to the secured access to the stairs. My wife and I opted for the stairs because we ate a lot and needed to burn off some local food. It was quiet on the third floor and I’m a light sleeper. The bed was comfortable, it was warm so we had the tan on and a window cracked open for fresh ocean air. I like this hotel because of the location, the older look, the comfortable bed, our bathroom was big (we got a corner room). If you want a room with a larger bathroom, get the rooms that end in 9. We will be staying here in our...
Read moreTrashy to say the least. When we arrived, the first thing we noticed was the dirty carpets and tile that were in the lobby. Dark dried stains all over the floor, a small container of cream cheese, crumbs, smelt like marijuana???, etc. The clerk had her head down on the counter watching something on her phone. No uniform or attempt to dress appropriate. i.e Wearing slippers, a jacket from the dive bar next door, etc. Overall not giving us a good first impression of this hotel, but we would of been charged if we walked out so we still decided to stay.
The room surprisingly was nothing like our first impression. It was very clean, no stains or overly used furniture. We didn’t have any hand towels but that’s not a huge issue. Unfortunately though they do not have conditioner. They say the shampoo is a 2 in 1.
Would I stay here again?...
