update We stayed May 12-14 in room 238. Check-in was quick and seamless as was check-out. Breakfast was acceptable. The floors in the area were a sticky and dirty with food o on the floor, but overall it was what I had expected. The lone staff person simply couldn't keep up with cleaning and refreshing the food options. There were a few bad apples in the bowl that needed to be tossed out. Getting into the parts that REALLY matter when staying at a hotel, cleanliness and room comfort. The room itself was okay. The floors felt hot in places which was a different experience than I have ever had here. There was no screen in one of the windows so if you opened it bugs could come right in OR your child could crawl out. Pretty big issue. The floors were sort of clean, but definitely could have been better. The room was dusty as if it had not been stayed in in a long time. There was some hair on the bedding and the bathroom floor was a dirty. The shower head and walls need a cleaning as there is a lot of hard water buildup on it. The toilet had a urine stain on the ring and the bowl itself had water stains which is why we think this room had not been stayed in or cleaned in a LONG time. The AC unit need a cleaning as it was dirty and there were a bunch of dead lacewings my wife said. She actually wiped down almost everything prior to us settling down after arriving around 9:30PM maybe it was 10:00. One of the pools was still out of order, which was a little disheartening . We did use the other pool on Saturday and it was ok. A bit cool, but our daughter was a little too short to use the whole thing anyway. What was really surprising was how beat up the hotel floor (2nd) looked. Everywhere you looked there was damage to the walls and fire extenguisher boxes. The carpet was loose and needed to be replaced or at least restretched. The front lobby was fine looking, although we did not use it. Sadly, but not a deal breaker the normal cookies that greet you at the front didn't exist Friday night or Saturday at all. Overall, I felt that this hotel has been neglected, if not the whole place, at least the 2nd floor. We used to enjoy this location as it is perfect for where we like to go. It is an easy out when we leave to go home as well, but the experiences seem to be hit or miss when staying here. Previous review----Very good location to get into and out of the Minneapolis area. Easy to get out and explore the Western part of the cities as well. Hospitality was great. Complimentary cookies, tea, cocoa. Hot tub and pool on site. The fitness center could be a little better, but not many go there to workout I would guess. Complimentary breakfast was good, waffles, pancakes, eggs, cereals, fruits,...
Read moreLet's see... We slept OK and were reasonably comfortable. But lots of little problems: The room we first checked into was not as it had been described online, though the employee at the desk was very helpful in switching into a room that worked better for us. Then it was a bit of an extra effort to get the bedding we needed for the sofa bed. The bedding was delivered but they didn't make up the bed or anything. There was not enough toilet paper in the room - Only the roll that was on the dispenser was there. There was no shampoo, but 2 conditioner containers for some reason. At first there weren't enough towels but soon we were able to get more. Someone had left drinks behind in the fridge in the room, which was a little weird. The climate control system doesn't really reach the inner room, i.e. the living room with the sofa bed so it was too warm in there, and everything was just a little damp all the time from the humidity - the AC didn't really dry the air and the carpets and everything were just a little damp and clammy. Water pressure was not very good, though the shower was usable. We just didn't want to use it much because it added to the dampness in the air. The total I was charged at the end was just a little over $10 more than had been expected, not terrible but just another little annoyance. The elevator (which we pretty much had to use because 3rd floor stairs were not convenient to our room at all and the stairwell was very dark - maybe due to burned out bulbs & definitely a safety hazard) had an overpowering smell of chemical cleaners that was so nauseating we would try to hold our breath for the duration of the elevator ride. These are all little things but they add up to a pretty unsavory experience overall, so we wouldn't likely choose to come back. But in addition, the policy that you have housekeeping for the rooms (which we saw in fine print somewhere) only on every 3rd day, i.e. not at all for us on a 2-night stay, is a really strong indicator of how much you're trying to cut corners and offer less than used to be expected from a mid-price hotel like this. The whole impression was of a business that is just barely keeping to any kind of standard and is trying to experiment with finding what it the minimum they can get away with providing. As a side note: the staff at the hotel were perfectly polite and seem to be doing the best job they can with what seem to be...
Read moreThe pictures find online, like any other hotel are not current, the hotel had a musky smell, the breakfast area smelled as if it was mopped with spoiled milk water! Two of the 5 staff members I interacted with were very nice and pleasant, the daytime guy was rude, and everything seemed to be a bother, ask for a refill on the items for breakfast was like they had to go to the store to replace and it would be a hassle. Now for the room, seemed like it had seen a vacuum in the past 2 weeks, possibly new sheets. But the bathroom has been wiped down not cleaned. Seeing as we were looking to get settled and whatever so, the following morning I asked at the front desk if it would be possible to get the bathroom cleaned and especially get the shower scrubbed. I was told no problem. We returned from our days plans to see the young man cleaning rooms (not a lot of bedding being changed I might add as we watched) and asked if he had taken care of my room? “I looked at the shower and bathroom it looked ok to me” now problem is if it’s requested they should just clean it. So we walk back in which 1st the towels from the day before that were used are still in the room on the floor and mainly the mold, mildew and dirt are still there. I ask you couldn’t give this a cleaning? Do you have some Lysol, bleach, shower cleaner? “Oh I can get a magic eraser and wipe if you want”. No that’s good! As he then says ok and walks out. So after taking a second and not lose my mind on how customer service just doesn’t exist any more I walk to his cart get the shower cleaning spray and clean the mess myself, exchange the towels that were on the floor and the pitch the towels I used to clean the shower with into the trash on his cart. Next time we leave I ask the desk if they could put my room on the list to have it cleaned and tidied up the next day seeing as we were there 4 days, so some fresh linen, towels, trash taken out once should be acceptable, welp let me tell you that didn’t happen and at that point I gave up. Yes could I have left to another hotel, but seeing as we were 1 of a group of 15 that would’ve made so many other things difficult, and since the day time staff had no intention of helping us with anything as the man seemed to be annoyed with life and hated everything I gave up! So don’t stay here , and surely don’t ask for rooms...
