We stayed in the Lydia suite at the Maitland Manor for a weekend to enjoy some hiking in the Olympics. Sydney and Alex were excellent hosts! A few noteworthy things for our stay:
-Sydney and Alex were polite and clear with required/helpful welcome information. -There was a shared mini fridge in the hallway that was super convenient for keeping a few bevies cold and for storing our hiking sammies overnight. -There was a TV in the room with hulu already logged in. We watched Airplane! -The Lydia suite had a Barbie-themed bathroom (okay, maybe not Barbie themed, but it was painted a beautiful and really fun pink and though a small touch, it really added to the experience for us). -We participated in the breakfast only once of the three night's stay, because we wanted to get an early start on hiking. The breakfast we had was great! For the breakfasts we didn't have, we received a credit to the commissary (not a standard, and as I understand it, the pricing has now changed to be more flexible for non-breakfast takers). -Speaking of the commissary, it was really cute, convenient, and surprising that they had a fridge, freezer, and pantry stocked with items for purchase (coffee bags, charcuterie, candy, ICE CREAM SANDWICHES! and more). Reasonably priced and local if available. -There was a Keurig in the room with plenty of kcups and a backup conveniently located in the hall. -Also located conveniently in the hall was backup toiletry items (bodywash, shampoo, etc.). And I loved their choice of BeeKind. -The Manor is located about 1 mile walk from the ferry (so basically 1 mile walk to everything downtown). We chose to walk some nights and it was pleasant. We chose to drive other nights after hiking 4,000 feet up those days. -When we drove, it was super easy, as parking for the Maitland is conveniently located. -We had ice packs, and Sydney directed to treat the main freezer downstairs as our own. Very nice, so we had extra chill in our cooler each day. -The "ice buckets," for the rooms we premade and in the freezer for grabbing. And they were two-quart proofing tubs!! To me, that's just such an amazing touch. But I'm a fan of baking, so maybe not for everyone. -And maybe the best surprise for me was walking out of the breakfast area in the morning to see a Handbook for the Recently Deceased and recognizing it straight away as a prop from the original Beetlejuice!! Just a cool thing to have lying around.
We will definitely stay again, based on...
Read moreIf I could give more than five stars, I would! As Sydney and Alex told me, they designed the B&B that would be their dream as a guest--and it was a dream, indeed! In addition to Sydney and Alex being wonderful, caring, and considerate people, some of the highlights include: The morning of my check-in, I received a text from them with detailed instructions on logistics like where to park, how to unlock the front door, how to get to my room, etc. These were questions that I was intending to call to ask, and that need was obviated by their thoughtful text! It really put my mind at ease and allowed me to feel more relaxed heading into my vacation. When I arrived, they acknowledged me but did so in a very unobtrusive way, which allowed me to get settled in peacefully while also knowing that if I needed anything I could ask. Throughout my stay, they offered thoughtful and knowledgeable suggestions for restaurants and activities, keeping in mind my preferences and interests. They joyfully and impressively accommodated my myriad of dietary restrictions, for which I was extremely grateful! Sydney's prowess with gluten-free and dairy-free baked goods was quite a pleasant surprise!! And the multi-course breakfasts were amazing--indulgent but nourishing!! I felt very spoiled :) Everything was very clean!!! This germophobe was very happy to see that my standards were met (especially in the middle of a pandemic). The bed was very comfy :) and in general there was an obvious effort to ensure that guests are comfortable, including keeping a fridge upstairs stocked with drinks, making cookies in the afternoon, providing high quality bath products (and soft towels!), having an Alexa in guest rooms, offering WiFi...all the little details that might be easy to overlook but that Sydney and Alex made sure to take care of. They also made sure that I had everything I needed before they went to bed each night. As a young(ish) female traveling alone, I felt very safe staying here, and Sydney and Alex conveyed to me that they didn't want to be overbearing but certainly were mindful of whether I made it back safely :) The location is great--it's in a quiet residential area that's just a quick easy walk away from downtown Port Angeles. I also found Port Angeles to be a convenient, central home base for exploring the Olympic Peninsula.
I definitely will stay here again!! Thank you, Sydney and Alex, for a wonderful...
Read moreStaying here was hands down the highlight of our trip. The Maitland Manor is breathtakingly beautiful inside and out. Everything was very quiet, clean, and well maintained. Sydney and Alex are awesome hosts. They are super accommodating and always on the ball, but also very laid back and easy to talk to. They helped us plan day trips and had lots of suggestions on what we could see/do in the limited time we were there.

The Food:
Sydney is a fantastic cook and every breakfast/snack she prepared was creative, well catered to the guests, and delicious! She sent us the new breakfast menu each day and let us pick from what was offered and even offered alternatives if there was something that we did/didn’t want.

The Room
We stayed in the “Charles” room and it was super cozy. I loved the bright and colorful peacock themed decor. You could tell that every detail of the space had been well thought out and they’d included everything you could need on a trip. There were clean robes, soaps and lotions, makeup remover towels, a lit closet, an alarm/speaker that could connect to phone/iPod, phone chargers, Amazon Alexa, a Kureg with coffees/teas to choose from and best of all, a sleep number bed so you can set the firmness to exactly how you like to sleep.

The Town
Port Angeles is a wonderful trip destination. It’s a cozy little town with lots of local shops/restaurants to explore. Sydney and Alex recommended several local places and we tried LD's Woodfire Grill for dinner. It was SO good. Definitely a great choice for delicious steak and seafood. Also, its very fun to watch the huge ships come into the port. You can see them right from the back windows/porch of the manor or it’s just a 5-10 minute walk down to the harbor. Of course, the very best part of being in Port Angeles was the proximity to the Olympic National Park. We spent the majority of our time exploring around there. From the B&B, the top of Hurricane Ridge is about 35mins away, it’s about 25mins to Crescent Lake, and 1 hour to Sol Duc Falls - all of which were more fantastic recommendations from Sydney and Alex.
Overall our stay at the Maitland Manor was incredible and I already want to go back. I would highly recommend staying here to anyone looking to vacation on the west coast. We are very grateful we were able to have such a fun and...
