We traveled across the country for our daughter's team to play in the Babe Ruth Softball World Series. The tournament is a stay-to-play tournament meaning we are required to stay at one of the pre-selected hotels from the Babe Ruth League. Based on photos provided and what we read, we chose this selection. This hotel was full to the brim with at least 5 other teams and their families. The lobby was nice however, once we opened the door to our rooms, everything went downhill from there. The rooms STUNK of mold and mildew...so bad that all of us went and purchased electric air fresheners and room deodorizer so we could stand to be in there. After taking off our shoes, the floor was damp as were the bedsheets....every single day and night! Even after a cleaning service, the sheets were never dry. The bathroom was gross and stunk just as bad as the rest of the room. There was unnecessary furniture in the room which also made the space much smaller than it needed to be. The first full day into our required 9-night stay, one of the 2 elevators started having issues, i.e. getting stuck between floors, etc. On day 2 or 3, said elevator went completely out of commission. Now you have a completely full hotel with guests carrying gear bags, coolers, etc. forced to wait for 1 elevator that took FOREVER! And then, at about the middle of our stay, we boarded the elevator on the 3rd floor to go down. Even though the elevator was on it's way up, we got on because as long as you had to wait and with the large amount of guests, if you waited, you didn't have a spot when the next opportunity arose. We went up to the 5th floor and were coming back down with a full elevator when it jammed in between the 4th & 3rd floors. My husband is claustrophobic and after several minutes, started to have a panic attack. Shortly after, the elevator JOLTED and dropped to the 3rd floor! Doors open and my husband bolted. He was pulling our fully loaded cooler as we were heading to a game. He took the stairs, dragging that cooler down every single one. And he still beat us to the main floor! His panic attack lasted for at least an hour! After that, we refused to take the elevator and resorted to the stairs. One instance, we were heading for breakfast and upon reaching the last step and stepping onto the floor, my foot slid out from underneath me and I feel backwards on the steps, spilling my coffee and resulting in large bruises on my upper right arm, back and buttocks. The reason for the fall...they floor had just been mopped and was wet...with no sign! The janitor was mopping the hallway outside the stairwell door, heard the commotion and poked her head in and realized her mistake...but, it was too late! We had to request towels 3 times in the span of 2 days because no one would ever bring them to our room and if we went to the counter, they would tell us that they would take care of it and yet never did. Your photos are misleading, the smell and mold needs to be addressed, the damp floors & bedding need to be handled and for the love of God, fix the elevators!!! Especially when you know you are going to be at full capacity for the span of 10 days, get everything in tip-top working order! This hotel had to be booked for this tournament nearly 2 weeks in advance of the tournament so there was ample time to make sure everything was fixed and ready! As well, we were told we were receiving a team discount but that was not the case as looking at bookings while I was staying there, were cheaper than what we were paying! We had originally extended our trip by 2 nights so we could have a tiny vacation once the tournament ended but the 2nd day, I cancelled our last 2 nights and rebooked at another area hotel for a much nicer experience and...
Read moreI stayed at this property for one night by myself in January 2024. I booked a two-double bed room through the IHG app even though I was only staying by myself due to it being somewhat cheaper than the single-queen that was also offered. Upon arrival, it was evident from the exterior that this hotel was extremely outdated, originally constructed in 1988. When I first stepped foot into the lobby a strong musty/humid odor hit me in the face. There are multiple signs throughout the hotel informing guests of ongoing renovations, according to the chart in the lobby only the pool area has been completed at the time of my stay. The way they are doing the renovations is by shutting down half of each of the five floors, literally. When you stepped off of the elevator the left side of the floor was sectioned off with plastic which I thought was a smarter approach than doing floor-by-floor.|| The room I was assigned was very dated as well as humid and musty. Everything in there screamed 1980’s and there is no way that it had ever been renovated within the last 20 years at least. I can't believe that IHG let their brand be attached to it with the sub-par condition it was in. However, I was able to make the best of my stay. I was able to eliminate the musty smell somewhat and eliminate a lot of the dampness by turning off the constant fan setting on the PTAC (A/C) unit in the room. I will give it to the housekeeping team though, even though the room was in pretty poor condition structurally; they kept it as immaculate as anyone could. The shower was good and I split comfortably, there were enough outlets for me to charge my phone and iPad, but there were no USB ports available.|| This hotel has a full restaurant and bar. I had breakfast in the restaurant, which was full-service; not a continental breakfast like a Holiday Inn Express or some Holiday Inn’s. The server whose name I do not recall was very nice and she was extremely attentive. Phillip, who was the cook was excellent; he had my food out in no time and it was delicious. I got the special that included two pancakes, two breakfast meat (I chose sausage), and two eggs, also of your choice. I got a coffee and an extra side of toast so it ran me about $16 which was a fair price for what I got, you're not going to eat at the Denny’s across the street for any less; plus the tip of course.|| I requested a noon check-out which was an hour past the normal 11 AM time. That was granted as expected and I departed without any issues. Overall, I enjoyed my stay but, the quality of the property was certainly lacking. With that being said, the staff was terrific throughout my entire time there. Hopefully, their full renovation will be completed soon; when that does happen, and I am in PSL again I will...
