I’m not big on bad reviews on small businesses but getting basically called a liar calls for it. We’ve eaten here before, well aware of the long wait and typically enjoy the food. Well I was served raw chicken. It happens, all good. I sent it back to the waitress and she informed the kitchen. How did I know it was raw? It was pink. It’s served sliced so it’s clearly undercooked. What id imagine would happen…. A quick apology and a new plate. Nope. They decided to throw my sliced open chicken back into the fryer and bring the same food back. It looked gross as you can guess cut up chicken would look. I sent it back again.
The owner came over and said that there was no way that happened (the raw chicken or it being retried) and because it was home made it would take a long time to make and there was nine other people waiting on their food. He then went to the kitchen to check to see what happened. He didn’t return, until much later. I was brought out my new chicken which was so overcooked and dry.
I was done, and didn’t want to eat anymore. I sent it back again and the owner came back and told me that because I didn’t like how my fully cooked chicken was cooked, they decided to cook it for an extra minute or two. I told him again that my chicken was undercooked and pink that I wasn’t even mad about that but it was everything else that happened that was bad. I just wanted a regularly cooked piece of chicken. Then he told me how he’s cooked chicken for eight years and doesn’t serve raw chicken. But apparently he does spitefully served purposely overcooked chicken. Never one offered an apology, never once could fathom a mistake occurred by his kitchen. So instead serving intentionally bad food is his way to make it right.
I asked the waitress if my chicken was pink and she said she didn’t look. (Idk if she really didn’t, if it wasn’t ’pink enough’ or she just didn’t want to oppose the owner because there’s no way you don’t look) I just wanted to know if I was crazy because obviously my wife agreed with me.
Waitress was very apologetic and yea, I still tipped and everything because it wasn’t her fault. She was very happy to explain that I didn’t have to pay for the food that was returned, but we paid for everything else. Another slight annoyance, but oh well.
Terrible experience of being indirectly called a lair and served spitefully bad food by a small business. I still wish him luck as a business owner but he burned a local customer tonight and couldn’t even say sorry. Guess I’ll take pictures next time even if I think it’s not a big deal in case I’m called...
Read moreTried this because of other glowing reviews and honestly, I wish I could figure out what they ate. Or maybe they just don't cook at home? Don't get me wrong, nothing was terrible - it just wasn't anything to write home about. My fish was overcooked but not inedible. The meal was just okay. We didn't have any of the Thai food and that may be where they shine. I've said before it's best not to try to do too many things, stick to what you're good at and it's possible that they should just be a Thai restaurant. All in all, it's not likely we would go back but that remains to be seen. The staff was very friendly so that was definitely a positive. Also please note that, due to the Thai portion of the cuisine, there are several peanut dishes so if you have a very low tolerance allergy you will need to be cautious.
Edited to add: probably won't return now. The owners clapbacks show that they can't take even a small amount of constructive criticism. I'm well aware of how both catfish and Mahi are supposed to be cooked, the texture, feel, and taste, I've lived here a long time and have caught and cooked both kinds of fish. I don't need a lecture on the different styles of food, I'm familiar with how it works and I appreciate varied cuisine styles if they are done well, my experience didn't reflect that being the case here. Being offended about me warning potential allergy sufferers is really weird, some people can't be exposed even the slightest - I have a peanut allergy but have a small bit of tolerance, some people do not and getting upset that I cautioned others is bizarre. As for parking, they ask the questions on here and the parking lot is oddly shaped and not a ton of spaces at the restaurant area, getting offended about your parking lot is very odd behavior, it's not a personal attack. The restaurants response to this and other not as glowing reviews decided the question of whether I'd...
Read moreWent on a whim because it was next to my hotel. Glad I did and wish I lived closer to experience the entire menu. I was greeted when I first walked in and not just the basic "hello" or "welcome in". There was a genuine hello thank you for coming in. I picked my seat and was promtly greeted by my server to get my drink request. I had the fried gator bitesl app, bang bang tacos and cheesecake creme brulee. There's a not on the menu stating they cook to order and to be patient. Having said that, my wait wasn't long at all for each course. The gator had great flavor, crunch to the breading and tender meat inside and a dipping sauce that went well. The tacos came right as I finished my gator. Very flavorful, and not overly spicy. Simple presentation with chips and salsa on the side. I didn't ask but wouldn't been surprised if I was told the chips were not made in house. Light, crispy and seasoned. Last but not least, the cheesecake. Never have I ever had a better dessert. Lightly caramelized on top, whipped creme and blueberries alo g side. All the while during my meal, I was asked how my meal was by I assume the owner. When asked, he asked about the specific dish I was on. Because he knew what was coming out of his kitchen or took the time to pay attention to what I had before speaking. My server was attentive but not over bearing. Pleasant and...
