We were very happy with our stay. Great location. Close to attractions. Most things we did and places we went were within 10-15 minutes. Rush Mountain was about 30 minutes away. Deadwood was about 45 minutes. Grocery store and lots of places to eat within blocks. Check in was easy. You will get instructions to get your key out of a lock box when you arrive. The room was very clean. We had a kitchen/living room, bedroom, and bathroom. Couch folds out as well. TVs in living room and kitchen. I had my laptop with me and was able to hook that up to the tv. We were able to watch Netflix, Amazon, and Hulu on the TVs using the laptop. Nice if you want some downtime to watch a show. Bathroom had a shower/tub. Shampoo, conditioner, and body wash were provided. No hair dryer so bring your own if you need one. Kitchen had silverware, utensils and two pans. Also had foil, paper towels, and cleaning supplies. Full refrigerator. No oven but two stovetop burners and a microwave. Bedroom had two beds, dresser and nice size closet. One bed was pretty sunken in but not so much you couldn’t sleep in it. Plenty of pillows. We were by the laundry room but did not hear any noise from there. We did sleep with a fan but the room seemed pretty sound proof. Few things to take note of. There is a window air in the kitchen. We left the bedroom door open all night to help keep the bedroom cool. However, the main door has a window and the bedroom will be very bright in the morning if you leave the door open. Bring some sleep masks if you like it dark. The main door does not lock behind you. I don’t remember seeing that noted anywhere. Can’t lock yourself out but we almost left with our door unlocked. Caught it by accident when we forgot something and noticed the door was unlocked. You need to use your keycard to lock the door behind you. I would suggest letting guests know this. I think most people are accustomed to the door locking behind them. No big deal as long as you are aware. We would definitely stay here again. One of the best places we have stayed...
Read moreIn response to Peter: your "research" wasn't all inclusive. Let me be clear that I'm not complaining about the rate that occurred because I left but rather felt I had to leave due to the rate changing. I do not do business with people that try to take advantage of me. Aaron is the other owner correct? He is the one who told me I could not do a lease as was previously agreed upon when I went in to set up the lease as we had arranged to do after a few days at the nightly rate. I reviewed the emails and reached out again, hoping to resolve this. At that point the story changed to yes a 3 month lease was the arrangement but not for the "remodeled rooms." Suddenly having to find new housing was expensive difficult and quite stressful at that point in time. I would've happily stayed had y'all been honorable.
Original review: This is a great concept! And worked well for me but these guys are super shady. Bait and switch AFTER you're settled in. We had an agreement for a short term lease while I was here as a travel nurse. Several days in when I was supposed to go sign the lease (this is what we arranged ahead of time). I was informed I will be put on a nightly rate rather than a lease, an increase of more than 40%! Suddenly they don't do short leases despite what's advertised on the travel nurse website and what we agreed upon. I thought perhaps it was my mistake in communication but I have it in writing, clear as day. When I pointed that out, I was given yet a different reason why they HAD to charge me more. They made no effort to be honorable. It caused a lot of stress to have to move out in the middle of my assignment while also driving back-and-forth to Denver for medical appointments. However, I will not do business with shady characters. I'm happy To pay more for a place 10 miles farther Rather than give any more money than I had to to these guys. If you don't care about the integrity of who you're doing business with, then I highly recommend this place. It was really...
Read moreWe are a family of four This is actually been remolded and renamed to “The Sojourn Vacation Rentals” It used to be a little motel now it’s a vacation rental or long term rental facility. We came across this searching for a place with a kitchen in which to stay while on vacation in the Black Hills. We had a one bedroom(two full beds), a sofa bed and a kitchen. All appliances, bathroom fixtures, shower, beds and dresser were new. There were two wall a/c units...one in the bathroom and one in the kitchen. We had a tv in the living room, not in the bedroom. The shower and toilet were in a separate room from the sink, but no door separating them. Just a door to the entire area...which was fine for us. Be aware in the kitchen there isn’t an oven. There is a stove top with two burners and a very nice cabinet installed microwave. There two pots and an assortment of silverware and a few kitchen utensils. Four bowls, plates glasses and mugs. There WEREN’T: Dish towels, soap, ice cube trays, storage containers or any food storage bags or wrap. There weren’t trash bags or a broom and dustpan. The General Manager was very kind and brought us what we needed when we asked him. I’m sure as they start getting more vacationers, they will put soap, kitchen towels a broom etc....in the units. We are very satisfied and happy with this unit. The price was $65/night for the unit. I believe the cost varies from a little less to a little more depending on the size of the rentals. The long and the short....you can save some of your money for area attractions by staying here and stocking up at the grocery store. It was quiet, and we felt secure at all times. Across or down the street is an Arby’s, Sonic, Perkins, Safeway and Starbucks...along with a few gas stations. There is also a laundry room on site if...
