Wonderful Experience! Clean, Safe, & Private!
February 20, 2025
My stay in February 2025 at the beautifully renovated Triangle Motel in Red Bluff, California could not have been better. I have been traveling up and down Oregon and California for business for nearly twenty years. Needless to say, I have stayed at dozens of hotels. By far, this was the best place I have ever stayed. I could kick myself for not discovering it earlier.
The Triangle Motel is right off of I-5 so it is convenient for travelers. It is well marked and easy to find. However, you would never think it was right off of a busy interstate because of its quiet, safe, and private location. To get there you drive up a small hill via a slightly winding and private driveway. At first sight of this quaint motel, I knew I made the right decision. The grounds and motel itself are clean and charming.
A code is provided via text to enter the room, so you never have to wait in line at a lobby. You simply drive right up to your room in the provided parking space. Two chairs and a round table are placed in front of each room. It makes for a pleasant setting.
The rooms are so cool. They are accented with solid pine doors and pine woodwork throughout. The windows with old-time cranks actually open and lock close (when was the last time you stayed someplace where the windows actually opened). The bed was super comfy and the pillows heavenly.
The nicely painted block walls keep your room silent – no dinging elevators, slamming doors, clanking ice machines, noisy neighbors, etc. The Triangle Motel has one floor only so you will not be listening to “thunder foot” walking back and forth above your head all night. Because the room was so quiet (and the motel was full), my corgi slept throughout the night. A first.
The heater/air conditioning unit is the best I have ever seen. It is remote control and the room temperature is highly visible and easy to adjust. It is very quiet.
The walk-in shower has a rain showerhead so that was fun. It is a dog friendly motel. There is a very nice grassy area to walk your dog. I saw an outdoor swimming pool, too, but the cold weather in February kept me out of it. There is also a grassy picnic area with a an outdoor grill if you want to BBQ.
Because of its privacy, I can see down-to-earth movie stars like Lady Gaga, Keanu Reeves, or Tom Hanks enjoying a stay here – anyone who appreciates the simple life. If you do not want to go out to one of the nearby restaurants for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, order from Door Dash – or BBQ in the space provided!
The Triangle Motel has the friendliest, most accommodating employees / owners ever. They are very responsive and make you feel like you are the most important person in the world.
The sunrise in the morning was gorgeous when I was there. I think the Triangle Motel ordered it just for its guests. (LOL).
I highly recommend staying at the Triangle Motel. You...
Read moreAfter realizing we couldn’t get a campsite because of a holiday weekend, we were scrambling to find accommodations for our road trip home to Washington from Southern California. Through a Trip Advisor search, we found this gem of a motel. Before we even saw it, we loved that it was local people making a go of renovating an old roadside motel. Being big fans of road trips, finding a place that wasn’t the corporate cookie cutter motel/hotel was an exciting find. Especially finding one as nice as this one.
We loved the easy tech-savvy reservations and checkin process. We make use of various vacation rental apps, and this process was quite similar to those; easy, accessible, and with quick access to a live person if you need help. Erin was quick to respond to our needs and we had all the information we needed at our fingertips: how to get in the room, where things were on site (ice, clothes steamer, free popsicles!), area recommendations for food, etc., motel policies.
Once we were there, it was a fun adventure to check out everything, all the improvements they made. The whole place is adorable and a quality restoration. The room was comfortable and clean, without that weird motel smell (their dried eucalyptus leaves were the perfect air freshener.) We unloaded our cooler into the mini fridge, cleverly made to look like an old Frigidaire. There were hooks for hanging and plenty of space for our bags. All the ammenities were useful, unique and in good repair. The bathroom tile with a triangle theme was so fun, as were the local soap and hair products. The bed was very springy and comfortable and the soft cotton throw was such a nice touch. We didn’t end up using the white noise machine/blue tooth speaker, but were excited to have it.
The outdoor area with BBQ and tables was spacious and clean. And the little ice room was a tableau of nostalgia. We seemed to have missed pool season, but that’s just a good reason to come back.
While the motel is situated close to the freeway, it was pretty quiet, especially after 9:00 PM. We felt very comfortable walking the surrounding neighborhoods. We did not try any local restaurants, but there were several nearby. We woke up early to hit the road and were surprised to see the rest of the rooms had filled during the night. We never heard anyone else! Such a...
Read moreWe have now stayed twice at this delightful property as we traveled from Southern California to Washington State and back. We found it through a 3rd party booking site and decided to try it instead of our usually Holiday Inn Express (which has always been just fine). Our needs are simple - we just want a clean, safe, comfortable and affordable place to stay with our dog. The Triangle Motel fit the bill on all counts. I was a little nervous about there not being an employee on the property, but Erin was super responsive via phone and everything worked smoothly. Our door code was texted to us, so we were able to go directly there upon arriving. The rooms are basic and on the small side (not surprising given the age of the property), but it had everything we needed for a comfortable night’s stay. They’ve done a great job of modernizing it while keeping a vintage feel. My husband really appreciated being able to park right in front of our room. There was a refrigerator in the room, and a microwave was located in a room that also houses a freezer with ice and maybe even a treat! 😉 . The provided coffee was a great start, and then there is a Starbucks right down the hill. They also provide information on other local cafes etc. The grounds were well-tended, and the pool looked very inviting (sadly we did not have time to use it). The main road and adjacent freeway can be loud, but it didn’t bother us at all. (Ear plugs and a white noise machine were a great touch!) We were so happy to have found this gem, and we will definitely...
