I donât even know where to begin. This was the weirdest and worst hotel experience weâve ever had. We travel for weeks at a time for work and stay in hotels every night, so to be the worst is really saying something. We booked two rooms with 2 beds in each, as we are a party of 4 people. At some point in the evening before we checked in, the hotel called and asked if we still needed both rooms, and we confirmed we did. The first half of our party checked in around ten and received key cards for their room and the second room we booked. The remaining half of our group arrived late, around 1am, and we went to pick up the key card from our co-workers. After we got the key we started to head to our room and heard someone yelling at us from down the hall. They continued to yell âhello excuse me!â and we realized it was the worker at the front desk. She yelled at us to come see her because we didnât have a room anymore(??) She said someone had screwed up and given our room away. We were thoroughly confused because how does that happen even after they called and we confirmed we needed both rooms. She didnât really explain other than âsomeone else screwed up and gave away our room.â Whatâs so confusing is they must have given our room away AFTER we checked in and got the key card, which doesnât make ANY sense. As a woman who travels it also is extremely disheartening to think that an establishment would give me a room that someone else already has a key to. The front desk staff was on the computer but not saying anything to us or explaining what was going on. I finally asked if they at least had a room they can move us to, and thatâs where it all went downhill. She kept saying it wasnât her fault, which I understand and it sucks to have to clean up someoneâs mess, but simply communicating what was happening would have been a huge help. The conversation kind of went back and forth like this and she was being defensive while I was getting frustrated. Eventually I removed myself from the situation because it was probably close to 2am at this point, and I was exhausted. She finally let us know she had a room with one bed she could give us. We tried to explain that wouldnât work, we booked 2 rooms with 2 beds because we are 4 grown adults and donât love sharing a bed with what are essentially our co-workers. The conversation got heated again and at some point she said we could go sleep in our original room with this stranger if we wanted(???). Eventually we said to just give us whatever room they had and she told us there was a couch in the single room. Spoiler alert, there wasnât. I honestly felt insane through this whole conversation, it made no sense. At the end of the day if she had simply communicated what had happened and given us a little empathy it would have gone a long way. Instead she seemed extremely annoyed that we werenât happy with the situation and didnât seem to understand why it wasnât ok. Also the room was disgusting and smelled terrible and thereâs no parking. Would literally rather sleep...
Read moreWhere to start? The hotel is small, not HC accessible, very dated and in desperate need of renovation, which may be underway. My room had a microwave but no fridge, one tv channel, lighting that was all controlled by one switch - I ended up unplugging unwanted lamps. No coffee, no restaurant - walked over a mile to get a sub at night and coffee in the morning, along a highway I had to cross. Table/desk but no chair. Staff at hotel and shuttle were very nice. I parked my car in a small lot across the back street from the hotel and expected it to be there when I returned. Nope. Without telling me they moved my car over 2 miles to a dark, unlit parking lot on Railroad St. After my trip, the shuttle dropped me here. The parking lot manager, King, claimed there was a question regarding my "confirmation" and he couldn't release my car until he was assured I had paid. I told him to contact the hotel office where I had paid - fortunately with AmEx. He said he couldn't do that. Some debate ensued and then he gave me my key. I loaded my luggage and was returning to his office to be sure all questions were resolved since I envisioned him calling the police once I drove off. A staffer said I was all set. I wanted out of there ASAP - 70 year old woman alone at night in a parking lot with several large, young attendants. Couldn't find my cell to set my gps, decided it was fear, exhaustion and stress hiding it from me, used my car's gps instead and took off. Upon returning home I tracked my cell. It's been in that lot since 12/27 and moving but never leaving the lot. I believe it was lifted out of my bag as I talked with King, perhaps the reason he gave me my key, since he never said his questions were resolved in any way. I have filed a police report, disputed my AmEx charges, written to Choice Hotels, the hotel manager, Ana, and the GM whose email is on my receipt. I heard from King after these contacts and he claims to have a cell with no identifying marks in his office, I am welcome to drive 75 miles or have it mailed to me at my expense to see if it is mine. It's been almost 48 hours that he has had my cell, this hotel has all my contact information and it wasn't until I started raising a stink that he made any attempt to find the owner of a cell that he had been carying around all day. My tracker logs every 15 minutes and I have a fitness app that shows the steps walked each day. At this point I want them to replace my cell and he can keep whatever he claims...
Read moreWorst Hotel Experience in 30 Years - Avoid the Rodeway Inn in Boston at All Costs
My recent stay at the Rodeway Inn in Boston was nothing short of a nightmare, marking the worst hotel experience I've had in three decades. From the moment we booked, the ordeal began. Despite the promise of an included airport shuttle, it never arrived. We frantically called the hotel over 10 times within an hour, only to be met with dead silence. Desperate and stranded, we had no choice but to spend money on an Uber. Only after we were en route did a hotel employee finally return our callâtoo little, too late.
Our arrival at the hotel was met with hostility that left us stunned. The front desk employee, instead of offering a simple greeting, launched into an accusation: "You were the one who kept calling and hung up on me." This confrontational and unprofessional behavior is unacceptable for any guest, let alone paying customers who contribute to the hotel's business.
As if the rude welcome wasn't enough, the front desk clerk attempted to charge us an additional $120, claiming our room hadn't been paid for, despite us having a paid-in-full receipt. The clerk's agitation and rudeness only escalated until she begrudgingly corrected the charge. She then admitted she was "at the store" during our desperate calls for the shuttle. Leaving the front desk unattended is not only irresponsible but poses a significant safety risk to guests.
Entering our room, we were met with the most outdated and unhygienic conditions I've ever seen. The toilet didn't flush, posing a serious health hazard, and the bathroom light was non-operational. To top it off, the hotel is located right next to the freeway, with rooms lacking any soundproofing, making it impossible to rest.
After our horrifying experience, further investigation revealed that many other guests had also faced additional charges and hostile staff. This pattern of deceit and mistreatment is appalling.
To anyone considering the Rodeway Inn in Boston, I implore you to look elsewhere. This establishment is beyond redemption and should be condemned. It is not fit for human habitation. Avoid at all costs. This was an absolutely horrific experience that I would not wish...
