To start, I was unaware there were renovations occurring so being greeted by a large wall blocking most of the lobby was not a great look. And the elevators were clearly in “renovation” mode with coverings and overall I was left with a not so great first impression. However, there was no noise from the renovations and I was leaving too early to get breakfast so I can’t reallyfault the hotel too much.
The check in process was relatively smooth. It didn’t feel overly professional and if I had to make a guess, it seemed like the employee was new - not that I was offended but I don’t remember my (very low level) silver elite status being recognized by name either.
The room was less than ideal. There was a tissue of some sort in the peephole. I was not about to touch that to find out why it was there. The thermostat on the wall by the door was set to one temperature but the thermostat on the in-room unit was set to another. I attempted to synchronize the two but frankly I don’t think the temperature ever regulated appropriately. The bathroom was oddly separated - a small room with a toilet and a little sink and totally separate was a room with a vanity, sink, and shower. Just a bizarre way to split up the toilet and shower (may be convenient for multiple people in a room, but still not normal). But the most egregious issue was the smell. It smelled like a car’s air freshener was placed right in front of each of the vents in the room and was intoxicating. Even cracking open the window for a while made no difference. Honestly nothing else about the room would have caused me much concern had it not been for this horrible smell. The built in closet and luggage rack looked worn (hoping that the room hadn’t already been renovated, otherwise that got worn out far too quickly). Also (and this goes for so many hotels), why on earth are glass doors on showers never properly sealed to where water doesn’t escape? It always seems like there is a gap in the door that is not protected by anything and is always located right where the stream of water ends up. It seems like such an easy fix but I always seem to find that the floor will be wet after a shower in a hotel with a glass shower door. The bed itself was relatively comfortable (save for the temperature) but there could have been more easily accessible outlets closed to it.
Checkout was smooth and the shuttle...
Read moreAll the staff were wonderful for the most part. Got the impression though that the staff is either over worked or they just don't care. I was able to see the grand view of what's wanted for what's available. The breakfast bars were plentiful with variety and time to just sit and enjoy. NO MASKS REQUIRED. But at closer details to the room after seeing it with fresh eyes. Soon noticed areas where I assumed staff were rushed to fix or clean the room BEFORE we got there (after reservations). Felt as though most options available for card members (guests) were open to enjoy as you pleased. But where the hotel felt warm and entertaining (1st floor). Learned QUICKLY that the was ZERO ICE MACHINE on the second floor and had to go to the 3rd floor for ice which was inconvenient. Felt as though the "store" in the first floor should have been FREE considering how it looked like the room was just THROWN together to make it work until next inspection. Knowing an outlet in the room sparked, called to get it looked at only to find out there wasn't much to be done because everything was too old. KNOWING there was a workout room for card members was great to know. But it looked as though all the gym equipment was retrofitted with equipment with hope to connect each machine with a tv. Only to find out that all boxes for said monitors didn't even work yet boxes turned on (cords too short to connect to box). Going to take my shower in what looked like a nice warm and inviting shower from the cold pool, only to come out of the shower with a piece on the bottom of the shower door half off (literally) and the floor starting to get wet (cleaned it up before it got out of hand). Thermostat DIDN'T WORK CORRECT, had to call services and they turned it all the way up to 80° and said we could then turn it down but it had to be turned up that high briefly to even get heat. Work up freezing because like the mini fridge only staying cold 2hrs max (says in fridge but your not told), however the fridge guaranteed 2 hr cold time, heater however guaranteed nothing but AC and HEAT at (seemed like) unrelated temps due to improper hook up or something. Unfortunately not much of anything good I can say about the finer details of the room or stay. Just seemed as though staff KNEW of said inadequacy and had to cover it up with either nice food and hospitality OR nice looking and...
Read moreThe room was not clean when we arrived. There were crumbs on the carpet, smears of greasy stuff all over the sliding window where the desk was, a film on the tv, and the toilet had dried urine on it (I had to clean it with sanitizing wipes). The air conditioner didn't work well either. We had to turn it to 50 degrees for it to even get cool. Needless to say, it was a long night of tossing and turning. Also, there were red spots on the carpet by the corner of the door. I wore my shoes in the room the whole time. We even checked out the pool and there was hair and some mysterious slimy substance floating in there? BARF. Does anyone clean the pool? The fitness room looked as if someone kicked the sides of the LifeFitness logos and walked out. Equipment looked beat on. Is there any supervision in this hotel? I went to the front desk the next morning before breakfast and told the rep at the front desk. She didn't apologize nor did she seem to care. It's almost like she wasn't paying attention and I had to repeat many things numerous times. PAY ATTENTION! She said the GM was there and someone would look into it. Around 10 am, the housekeeping supervisor (I believe his name was Clarence) came by to address the issues. He was extremely professional and apologetic. He took care of the red spots in the corner on the carpet by the door, and vacuumed the entire room. While we were out, he had someone fix the air conditioner. It looks like it could've been a nice hotel as there was nice furniture and style but there was some rough guests in the past and you could tell. In the elevators, it looked as if there was some sort of vandalism on the stainless steel and it was scratched out by the hotel. Not the kind of crowd I want to be around. The lady in the breakfast area was very polite and was always cleaning and stocking. The front desk ladies could be a little more personable and friendly. Overall, not impressed. Again, looks like it was nice at one time but not the case now. I was disappointed that I wasn't offered a refund or discount for the inconvenience being that we stayed there for 2 nights. Only reason I'm giving it 2 stars is because of the housekeeping supervisor...
