We were travelling internationally from Scotland to Florida with a layover in Philadelphia, and due to American Airlines we have missed our connecting flight. American Airlines recommended and paid for us to stay at this establishment, however, this was a truly appalling experience, to say the least. We stayed at this hotel on the 13th of August 2025 in Room 502. The transport from the airport to the hotel was a second rated, dangerous vehicle, wiring was protruding from missing light fixtures above the windows with electrical tape on the wiring. Air conditioning was not operational in August Philadelphia heat. Upon arrival at the hotel, we were (not) greeted by very unwelcoming, rude staff who acted like they did not want to be there or interact with members of the public. We asked if we could use the room phones to make an external call to our family in Florida to inform them of the change in travel arrangements due to the missing connection. We were told, very rudely and extremely unpleasantly, by a young woman that we were not allowed to use the room phones. I have attached a picture of the phone that we have been provided in our room with several missing buttons and it the condition was unacceptable. The room itself, the thing that we noticed first upon entering was the stench and overwhelming stink emanating from the carpet in room 502. Walking on said carpet could only be described as wearing sandals dragging your feet through a thick layer of marmite. This was truly a horrific experience. To add even more insult to said injury of staying at this hotel, my wife has taken unwell in the night-time and at 1 am, I approached the front desk night staff asking for bottled water, their reply was "We have none at the moment. We are waiting for new stock tomorrow morning". To this, I asked "Could you give me some of the staff's drinking water?" the reply from staff was "there is a fountain in the foyer" my reply was "can you give me a cup?" the staff replied "have you not got cups in your room?" I stayed in 502, 5 storeys up and I am a disabled elderly person who was not even asked about any special assistance when checking in in the first place. I was then directed to a room which had a vending machine, I proceeded to put 3 USD into the machine, pressed the water button, to my surprise, out came Canadian Dry Soda. I proceeded to put another 3 USD and pressed another button hoping that they had maybe mixed up the chutes in the machine, to my surprise, Canadian Dry again. On a third attempt and 9 USD later, the machine swallowed my 3 USD and I went to the reception to speak to the night shift staff again. I informed them of my predicament and the situation with the machine and the staff replied that "The machines have nothing to do with the hotel, you will have to speak to someone from the vending company tomorrow morning." Not only was this entire situation extremely distressing due to the aforementioned circumstances surrounding my wife falling unwell and us both being elderly customers, this was truly shocking, we couldn't even get drinking water in 2025 America. American Airlines supplied us with a 12 USD each voucher for an evening meal at the hotel. We ordered 2 Angus steaks, 2 small bottles of Guinness and Gin and Tonic. When the bill arrived, we had to pay an additional 40 USD. In the following morning, we went down for breakfast and had to pay an additional 15 USD per PERSON in order to eat a buffet breakfast. The AA vouchers we received did not even cover a substantial part of a meal for two people this was so disappointing. I am hoping that any further recommendations by American Airlines for accommodation due to delays or cancellations are an improvement as this was not an acceptable situation to...
Read moreA group of us were sent here after American Airlines caused us to miss our connection. The shuttle service was excellent. And the staff at reception was also excellent. But, that's where it ended. We waited in the restaurant for over 40 minutes just to get some water, sodas and 2 beers. Then, we waited again for our food order for almost an hour and 20 minutes. Most of this just consisted of B. L. T's. Not a time consuming meal. After having to follow up about our order 4 times, we were discussing walking out and going elsewhere. After getting to my room, I really needed to use the bathroom. I was very disheartened and exhausted when I had to clean my own toilet in order to be able to use it. I had placed my luggage at the end of one of the beds and when I picked it up to take items out of it I saw that the entire bottom and edges of my luggage was covered in probably a few inches were absolutely caked in dust, obviously not vacuumed for a LONG time! There was black hair all over the Bathroom faucet and floor, poop spattered under the toilet seat and rim. There was dark, course public hair on the toilet itself. Gross! There were large stains all over the walls n hair and dirty floors, dirty counters, mirrors, dusty furniture and the big light in the room was broken or the bulb was burned out. The slider door was unlocked and I struggled to get the entry door locked so I had to use the safety lock. The fridge was completely frozen over and there was leftover food/snacks left in there. I was so appalled at the condition and cleanliness of the room that I tore covers off both beds to check for bed bugs. I then got a look at the pillow and mattresses and I didn't even want to sleep on them. The bed coverings and "blankets" are useless and there are none others in the room. I considered asking for another room but there was a wedding going on in the hotel and it had been a very long road from back to the United States. I was just too tired to deal with the situation.
I did speak with Patricia, at the desk and she was fantastic. I'm very glad to say that Nicole and the breakfast were absolutely great! I was very happy to have a decent breakfast. Although, it's not included. I have left a message with my name and my phone number at the hotel for the manager. I have yet to hear back from her, but it's only been a few days. The real disappointment is that I came with a group of 10 people and only one of them said that they did not have a bad experience in their room. Many of us took pictures of our experience and I'm glad to share them here. I would not stay at this hotel unless I was forced to and I would definitely want to inspect the room before I stay in it ever again.
Thank you, Patricia and Nicole. For being my saving grace and the best part of my experience while being stuck in Philadelphia. I truly appreciate you! You are truly exceptional employees and fantastic people! And, when your manager calls me back I will make sure that she...
Read moreYou can tell that the hotel is incredibly short staffed. I was there for a work trip, out of the 5 days we were there it seemed like the hotel staff never left. There was 1 lady that worked every single lunch and event we had. The front check in staff also working the events. Check in was fine we arrived about 5:30, but coming down to the lobby for our events we saw multiple lines at check in. Getting into our room, the lamp shade was broken and fallen down, there was a boxing glove under the one bed, the coffee packets were open (and when we asked for more from a housekeeping lady right outside our door she mentioned we needed to ask front desk). Our room was set at 60 when we came in, there was 1 thin sheet and small fleece blanket on each bed. I wish I could remember the other housekeeping woman we checked with because she was kind enough to replace all the coffee and give us an additional blanket for the bed. The coffee machine set up was a plastic tray that we were supposed to reuse, but didn't fit the coffee maker. If put in the machine, the piece had to be cut and there were no scissors in the hotel, if put on top of the cup like a pour over coffee it made a huge mess. The balcony to our room was filthy and covered in spiders. Outside of our room just the general appearance and overall cleanliness of the hotel was poor. On the balcony below our room there was a roaster tray filled with dead sun-bleached crabs, and the air conditioning vent from inside the room was on the balcony. The paint was peeling off the walls and vents, missing lampshades in the hallways. The restaurant had great food, but it came with the price of waiting. The first night we ate in the hotel restaurant wasn't bad. There was 1 bartender and 1 waitress, they got the job done and food was out pretty quickly. The second night we ate in the hotel there was 1 woman doing everything. She was seating everyone that came in, answering the phone for room orders, taking all the orders from the pretty sizable dining room full of people, getting drinks, mixing drinks, delivering food to tables. Many other people on a night like that would have walked out and never looked back. I think her name is Brittany, and she deserves a medal for everything she did that night! Like I said, they need help. They need more people, and someone who actually cares about their employees jobs and the hotel. Positives? The elevators were quick, they had 3, none of them were broken. Only thing is you had to make sure you got in the right elevator to choose what floors to go to because some numbers and arrows didn't work. The one super nice housekeeping lady that I can't remember her name. How close it was to a town where we could still get...
