Worst sleep of my life. Stayed 5 nights. Twice housekeeping ignored Do Not Disturb sign & banged loudly, wanting entry. 2nd time was day I was checking out & even though I had a late check out 3 hours later she kept asking if I was checking out & wanting to come in. Another morning construction started literally over my head. I had to leave to make a call because the person on the other end could not hear me. Website mentioned restaurant was closed for renovation but nothing about construction on upper floors. It would have been good to know in advance so I could have made an informed choice. Instead there was a small sign at the front desk & earplugs in the room.
I moved a Zoom call from 1pm to 4pm to avoid both the construction noise & housekeeping (service between 9am and 2pm). That day they showed up just as I was about to begin the call at 4pm & seemed upset at being turned away. Other 2 mornings I was up & out early, don't know about housekeeping or construction those days. But I did return 1 day to find door not fully latched & pillows scattered on bed & table.
Aside from housekeeping staff & construction, the bed itself had issues. The mattress was very nice & thick but was placed on a frame with no support: no box spring, slats, or platform. Instead, the frame had one thin bar in the center and the mattress sagged on either side. Air conditioning unit was right next to the bed which made it difficult to get a comfortable temperature. You could either freeze with the blowing right on top of you or have the room heat up. There was no in-between. And there was no air in the hallways, leaving them hot and musty.
There was an ice/water dispenser on my floor. It was more suited for individual servings than filling up the ice bucket from the room (which was never cleaned or provided a new lining bag). Small cone shaped paper cups were left by the dispenser were difficult to manage & fell apart quickly. Only small amounts of ice were dispensed & the water did not function at all.
The hotel seems to be going for a certain vibe which looks good in photos but leaves a lot to be desired in real life. The painted walls have a weekend DIY feel. The inspirational sayings on the walls are done with peel & stick lettering which were bubbling & peeling off. The tub stopper did not work & the bathtub was grungy. I called the hotel directly to ask if the rooms had tubs or showers. The person I spoke with kept me on the line for over 20 minutes signing me up for an IHG membership saying it was the only way to answer the question. She then quoted me a higher rate than what was posted on the website. I did not get a satisfactory answer & ended up booking on-line.
No business center - only way to get something printed was to email it to an employee's email address & have them print it out. There is a small room adjacent to the fitness room which doesn't seem to have any function. It seems like the perfect spot to put a desk, computer (or connection for a personal laptop), & printer. There was space for at least 3 such set-ups. Definitely a wasted opportunity.
Quick notes: A fire alarm had been pulled & I was subjected to a long period of silent flashing lights. The front desk sent a housekeeper to make sure nothing was happening in my room but took a long time to clear the alarm. A microwave in the room would have been nice, especially with the restaurant closed.
The front desk personnel were very nice & accommodating. They credited 2 of my 5 nights parking (could have been more) & gave me some hotel points (which, based on this experience, I will not use).
The location was great. Everything I needed turned out to be within a few blocks radius.
I liked the workout equipment in the room. After a long plane ride & heavy luggage, it was nice to be able to roll out some kinks in my back without leaving the room.
Did not have time to use the fitness center but it looked decent.
Pros do not come close to outweighing the cons. Next time I am in Rockville I will try the hotel...
Read moreMy initial instinct was that this hotel is definitely a one or two night type of hotel. Staying beyond that becomes extremely expensive.
Parking was $20 a day! That tripped me out being that the parking garage (detached) is next to the hotel and is free to shoppers in the shopping complex next to the hotel. Granted, it’s a two hour limit for shoppers but being an actual guest at the hotel and having to pay $20 a DAY is a bit extreme. The person at the front desk tried lighten that cost by stating that the hotel across the street is $27 a day. Not sure is that was supposed to make me feel like I was getting a bargain or not but it was a pointless comment. Parking is also on the 5th and 6th floors and you have to take a raggedy elevator to get back down to the hotel. The sounds that the elevator makes is scary, horror movie like. I panicked riding down only to get back into the hotel.
Check in could have been better! I wasn’t even acknowledged as a Platinum Member! That was the first time that ever happened. With the price and quality of the hotel, that is the least that could have happened.
The room was OKAY. It’s nothing to brag about. It was spacious but limited. There is barely any closet space and no dressers to store anything. The bathroom counter was bare and didn’t have hand soap or lotion. You have to go all the way down to the first floor to get ice and filtered water; there is a mini fridge in the room but clearly it doesn’t produce ice or water. There was also a Keurig with a few cups. There was NO microwave. The room had exercise (aerobic) equipment but there is a big nice gym downstairs. The TV is nice and had a nice selection of channels that’ll make you feel at home and the bed is comfortable.
The location was awesome. There were so many places within walking distance that you can pretty much get what you want or need without having to get in your car to venture.
Not sure if they served food there. The front desk agent didn’t mention it during the check in. I don’t even know if they served breakfast (free or not.) There is a bar here as well.
Their incidental fee was crazy! It’s about as much as the room itself. Imagine that if you stayed a week or so.
After reading my own review, I was more impressed with the area than the hotel. I should have looked into other options. I will never stay there or at that brand ever again....
Read moreI am writing to share my extremely disappointing and concerning experience at this hotel, which involved a safety incident affecting my child and subsequent poor handling by the management.
The Incident: During our stay, my child was injured in the bathroom when a heavy metal part fell and struck my child's left shoulder and arm. This was clearly a maintenance and safety issue that could have resulted in much more serious injuries. Just imagine if this heavy metal part had fallen on my child's head!
The consequences could have been catastrophic. I have photographic evidence of both the incident and my child's injuries.
Hotel's Initial Response: When I reported this safety incident to the hotel staff, they said we couldn't cover any medical expenses for my injured child. They offered free accommodation for our 2-night stay as compensation
Billing Issues and Broken Promises: However, at checkout, despite their promise of free accommodation:
They only comped one night instead of the promised two nights They charged us for the second night When I questioned the charge at the front desk, the staff member spoke with the manager and assured me the charge would be removed The charge remains on my bill despite their assurance it would be canceled.
Overall Assessment: This hotel has demonstrated:
Serious safety negligence - Heavy fixtures should not be falling and injuring guests Lack of accountability - Refusing to take responsibility for medical costs when their facility injured my child Poor follow-through - Making promises they don't keep regarding compensation Unprofessional billing practices - Charging guests after promising free accommodation
The fact that they cannot even honor their own compensation agreement after a safety incident involving a child speaks volumes about their management and customer service standards.
Recommendation: I cannot recommend this hotel to families or anyone prioritizing safety and reliable service. The combination of safety issues and unreliable management responses makes this establishment unsuitable for guests who expect basic safety standards and honest business practices.
They didn't check the healthof my kid after that. They didn't care!
I have documentation and photos of the incident and am considering further action to address both the safety concerns and...
