Stayed at the Quality Inn & Suites near St. Augustine Beach last month when we went to see Brand New at the amphitheater, and it was great for what we needed. It was one of the cheaper options in the area, but clean, comfortable, and pretty close to the venue, just a quick drive away. At night, the place had a cool liminal vibe with the glowing lights and quiet halls. Definitely a solid budget choice if you’re catching a show or just passing through.

Overall , A Horrible Experience. Seriously Alarming Safety Concerns and Unprofessional Staff. My fiancé and I chose to stay at this hotel after a hurricane left our home uninhabitable. We picked this location because it was near the beach and allowed pets, as we have our dog with us. Unfortunately, our experience has been deeply troubling and far from the safe and welcoming environment we expected. From the start, we encountered issues with the man working the night shift. His behavior was beyond unprofessional—it was threatening and intimidating. Every time I walked to my car at night, he would follow me and my fiancé, making us feel targeted. His attitude escalated quickly, becoming hostile, aggressive, and downright hateful. He repeatedly threatened us, getting in my face as though he was going to assault me. One particular night, we had just arrived back at the hotel and were unloading our bags when he came outside yelling, accusing us of being loud, and claiming he had received complaints. None of this was true. He aggressively told us he could kick us out if he wanted and dared us to challenge him. On another occasion, when I politely asked him to stop harassing us, he lashed out further, calling my fiancé derogatory names. When I informed him that I felt unsafe and would contact law enforcement if the harassment didn’t stop, he escalated the situation even further by calling the police on us. Thankfully, the officers confirmed that he had no valid reason to remove us from the hotel, but the entire ordeal was incredibly stressful and left us feeling unsafe. To make matters worse, someone—either this man or another staff member—entered our room without our permission while we were out. They moved items around, replaced napkins and towels, but didn’t clean the room or take out the trash. It felt sneaky and invasive, as though they were trying to justify entering the room without reason. This level of unprofessionalism and blatant disregard for guest safety is unacceptable. It is alarming that the hotel employs someone who behaves in such an unstable and aggressive manner. This could easily lead to someone being seriously hurt. I urge the hotel management and owners to address these issues immediately. No guest should feel unsafe or harassed while staying at a hotel. This experience has been a nightmare, and I hope action is taken to ensure no one else has to go through what we did. I really hope that someone reaches out to us in regards to this nightmare of a stay because we really feel like we never not once were able to just relax in our room and that feeling is the worst feeling in the world. ****I WILL BE POSTING PICTURES SHOWING HOW THEY VIOLATED OUR PRIVACY NOT TO MENTION THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF OUR CONTRACT WITH THE HOTEL THROUGH FEMA. WHICH STATED THAT OUR ROOM WAS TO BE INSPECTED ONCE A MONTH WITH PRIOR NOTICE FROM THE HOTEL AND WE WERE TO BE PRESENT DURING THE INSPECTION . OTHER THAN THAT THE ONLY TIME THEY WERE SUPPOSED TO ENTER OUR ROOM WAS IT IN THE MORNING TIME WHEN MOST GUESTS WOULD BE CHECKING OUT AT NORMAL CHECK OUT TIME WHICH IS 11:00 A.M. IF WE WOULD LIKE, WE COULD ALLOW HOUSEKEEPING TO COME IN AND CLEAN THE ROOM AS USUAL BUT INSTEAD OF DOING THAT EVERY DAY WE WOULD JUST LET MY FIANCE CLEAN IT AND WE WOULD PUT THE BEDDING OUTSIDE THE DOOR FOR THEM AND THE TOWELS SO THAT THEY WOULD KNOW THAT WE JUST NEEDED THEM REFRESHED AND THEY WOULD COME IN AND REFRESH THE TOWELS AND THE BEDDING OTHER THAN THAT THERE SHOULD HAVE BEEN NO OTHER REASON FOR THEM TO COME INTO OUR ROOM. BUT AS STATED BEFORE TODAY THEY DID NOT TOUCH OUR BEDDING WE DID NOT LEAVE OUR BEDDING OUTSIDE THE DOOR OR OUR TOWELS WHICH MEANT THAT THEY SHOULD HAVE NEVER CAME INTO OUR ROOM NOT TO MENTION NOBODY GAVE US PRIOR NOTICE OF ANYTHING AND WE WERE NOT PRESENT WHENEVER THEY CAME INTO OUR ROOM. PLUS AT 11 A.M. WHEN THEY KNOCKED TO SEE IF WE WANTED HOUSEKEEPING WE TURNED THEM DOWN AS USUAL AND LEFT ABOUT AN HOUR AFTER THAT THAT MEANS THAT WHOEVER CAME INTO OUR ROOM CAME INTO OUR ROOM WAY PAST HOUSEKEEPING HOURS.

Saint Augustine has a beautiful beach that anyone can visit by walking across the street, but from this hotel, it wasn’t a simple walk, you have to walk down a long boardwalk and the walkway closes at 630pm. The evening check in person was pleasant enough on March 7, but the daytime person on March 8th seemed quite dismissive. anytime I asked her a quick question. The breakfast was very minimal and very crowded. The seating is very close. Their idea of a hot breakfast is steamed egg circles that look like watery hockey pucks and pork sausage patties. I didn’t see anything that I could possibly eat with dietary restrictions other than yogurt and all they had was strawberry and no other choices that day. They had the standard waffle maker, breads and cereals. With today’s society, when everybody’s trying to lose weight, I think they could’ve done better with the choices. Room 208 had such a heavy surcharge over the weekend. It was crazy. They charged me charge me close to $500 for two nights. During the week it would’ve been closer to 300. There wasn’t anything all that special about that room. They put a little kitchenette inside - what was a closet at sometime. The main disappointment about this room is the AC unit smelled so bad of mold, I had to leave it off my entire stay. I went out and bought a fan to use instead. The bed was comfortable, the bathroom was clean, there was plenty of towels, there are two sinks, the linens were clean, there is plenty of parking, there is a nice pool. I did not bother staying for breakfast the second day it just wasn’t worth. 03/09/2025

The check in was a major screw up, they me a key to the wrong room. I opened the door and could peoples suitcases in the room. The room was not clean the floors were dirty they had sand, food on them. I found an empty drink bottle behind the door. I had to ask if the housekeeper would take out our trash and give us clean towels, well they did but only emptied one trash can, didn’t take the dirty towels, put the clean towels spread out all over my bed, they could have put them in the bathroom then maybe they would have seen the trash can and dirty towels. I had to go to the front desk to ask for toilet paper. One evening we came back to the room and it smelled like someone was cooking, frying fish the smell was coming through and air duct in the bathroom and you could see smoke in the bathroom. It was so bad I had to shut the bathroom door which didn’t close all the and turn on the exhaust fan for seven hours, plus I had to open the door to the hotel room. I had the maintenance man that worked there to come in the room as a witness to the smell and the smoke to know that I wasn’t exaggerating or making this up. I went to the front office and told the desk clerk about the situation in the room. I thought that it was coming from upstairs and maybe coming down through the vent so he did go upstairs and he said he could smell it, but he didn’t know where it was coming from, so I went back to the room and then I came back up there and I told him again and the maintenance man was there. Also he said it could be coming from downstairs behind our room so the desk clerk went to check it out and so did the maintenance man desk clerk told me that he thought he knew which room that the cooking was going on and he called the room and knocked on the door, but no one would answer and the maintenance man told me that yes you could smell that someone was cooking around behind our rooms, but nothing was done about it and the maintenance man About it and said well, maybe if you go around there and ask them they’ll give you some fish I didn’t no one seem to take this very seriously and I was concerned if what if something catches on fire and I’m in this room and have to evacuate and the maintenance man told That well, we have a pretty good alarm system if something happens, just give me a call and let me know. There was construction going on there, so there was all types of work trucks coming and going with men coming and going all the time they had part of the parking lot roped off two big dumpsters out in the parking lot and then on a day when a storm was coming, the wind was blowing so much that it was blowing Styrofoam out of the dumpsters all over the place even into our room we couldn’t even leave the door open. The last night we were there there were people outside of our door, making all kind of noise drinking, scared, my mother to death. The only thing that I can say was good at the hotel was the breakfast that there was nothing else about the stay there. I wanted to complain About all the issues and problems that we had during our stay Hoping that maybe I could get a discount on the price that I had to pay for bad service but I didn’t say anything because I didn’t think it would do any good. I figured they wouldn’t have the authority to do that to give a discount. So if quality Inn wants to make up for their bad and unprofessional service that I received at their hotel, you can refund me some of my money that I had to pay...

Although the staff were fine the condition of the hotel is in need of refurbishment. Being that the hotel is beach side it is subjected to salt and a lot of the metal has rust such as door frames and the ice makers. Ice makers are located outside exposed to the salt air. Therefore constant maintenance is a necessity I imagine. Our room was on the third floor and the elevator is located outside, as are the stairs, when we arrived the elevator was stuck on the second floor so we carried our luggage up the stairs. We utilized the stairs for the rest of our stay since we did not trust the elevator. The location was handy in order for us to visit our family and it was close to Publix supermarket and various restaurants.

The room we booked was the king executive suite and although the picture on the web site showed a recliner in the room it had only a 2 seat worn out couch which was very uncomfortable to sit on. A bit misleading since the only reason we booked this room was the indication there was a recliner. The 2 office type chairs in the room were also worn out, I have seen chairs kicked to the curb in better condition. The remaining furniture looked like it was purchased from a thrift store. The bed was comfortable as were the pillows. The curtains also were in need of replacement. The AC/Heater worked fine, we used the heat on this trip for the most part. Refrigerator also worked fine as did the TV and remote. The room was clean. The hot water took a long time to get hot but once it did it was fine. The toilet flushed fine. We did see a few insects such as a spider and roach but your in Florida, insects are prevalent here. The bath tub was an outdated Jacuzzi style which also had a shower, no way would we use the tub but shower head worked fine. There were many obvious repairs to the ceiling. There were no Do Not Disturb placards available to put on the doorknob on the outside of the entry door. When you entered the room you actually had stairs to walk down into the room, a little treacherous, but if someone broke through the door in the middle of the night they would no doubt not expect stairs therefore take a pretty good tumble down the stairs, giving you time to get the drop on them, although the area the hotel is located is quiet so I would not expect any unwanted visitors,The stairs had a dark carpet on them which make it difficult to negotiate and see the steps.

The breakfast was your typical hotel breakfast. The eggs were shaped like a pancake and were fair at best, the sausage patties were fair as well. Waffle maker was good. It was a very small dining area. But it was a hot breakfast. We ate breakfast the first morning but passed on breakfast the second morning.

The room rate in terms of value for a beach side hotel was good and a place to lay your head. I would probably look for a different hotel on our next...
