I have traveled with my service dog internationally and to every major city here in the US and NEVER have I been subjected to such discrimination and attitude.
I called way in advance and expressed preference for a room on the second floor and located as close as possible to the middle of the hotel. The lady was very sweet and said she would make a note of that to arrange it. She also noted that me and my friend would arrive earlier and would do everything possible to accommodate early check in, though not guaranteed. I understand that.
I also called and notified them that I would be traveling with my service dog and I instantly noticed a change in the tone.
When we arrived, I walked in and there was no one at the front desk, after much searching and calling for someone, I am met by a woman who gave me nothing but 110% attitude. She pulled my reservation and before I even got a word in edgeways, proceeded to say: "No, you can't have a room upstairs, there's nothing available. Actually, people reserved them before you. So if you don't like it, I can refund the money and you can leave and go somewhere else."
So taking a breath, I proceeded to explain that we just drove from Las Vegas, that it was Sunday and certainly had no idea where we would go to start looking for a last minute reservation. She continued: "Well, so do you want a room or not? It will be downstairs and no, it will not be in the center. And no, I can't check you in early. (We arrived at 1PM, check in 3PM). We will call you when it's ready and if you don't hear from us by 3PM, you can always come back and check here."
Are you serious?! The attitude was so overwhelming and then she took my credit card and proceeded to charge me for the two nights stay without telling me. When I questioned her, she stated: "You have to pay the whole stay in advance. Will that not work for you? You can stay somewhere else."
It took every ounce of control not to tell her my personal opinion of her absolutely rude, condescending and discriminatory behavior. But since we had no options and didn't want to ruin our short stay, I stayed quiet. We left and went for lunch. By 3Pm, we had not heard, so we returned to the hotel and was met by a man at the front desk, who seemed very uncomfortable. I had called him and asked to get one of the rooms on the bottom floor as center as possible. He gives me a key to the room the is second to last from the END. At this point, I just wanted to get into the room.
The following day, when we return from an outing, we are locked out of the room?! The keys are not working, though we had prepaid the two nights. I go to the front desk, no one there and then the lady that checked us in arrives. Just as rude as the first day, she says: "Oh well, I guess I forgot it". Doesn't apologize for the inconvenience or anything. Having worked in the Las Vegas 5 star resorts for years, had an employee treated a guest like this, they would either have received a write up or been fired. And what was most disappointing was her awful attitude.
So we make a reservation at the Cliffside restaurant for 7PM, for two people. When we arrive, the girls checking us in are less than accommodating. We had requested outside seating by the edge, and were placed at the table that was at the very end in a corner. Even the waiter said: Wow, they put you in the outskirts. The food was great, the waiters were great and the only great thing about this experience.
In the morning of our departure, I called and asked front desk for a late check out, as I was not feeling well. Check out time was 11AM, we requested 12 NOON. I get a call back saying that the housekeeping manager said we could leave at 11.30AM. I have NEVER EVER in all my 30 plus years of traveling the world encountered such nonsense and ill behavior from staff. It was clearly evident that they couldn't wait for us to leave. The person that delivered breakfast in the morning basically turned around before she handed it over and didn't say anything, even though we said thank you.

Read moreWe stayed one overnight and dined@ the restaurant. The room is updated with shower, wardrobe/hang-up/drawers type closet for clothes. 50 inch TV and multiple pillows for good night's sleep. Wide open floor space, #105. The view is amazing upon arrival and next morning. You cannot beat the view and balcony! Currently, they have an attentive staff, so just let them know your specific needs. I loved the "European breakfast", which was a surprise!
Now, the review for the restaurant. My husband called ahead for reservations for window seating with view. We had 8:15 time, we even sat for a bit...available seat comes up, a bit of scrambling with 3 hostesses...we were seated downstairs.
First red flag.... Dining room is nice, so we settle in. Server introduces herself, Taylor, took drink order and appetizer. The calamari was good, coating fell off, too easier.
The sequence next was, clam chowder arriving lukewarm. Second red flag. For myself, I canceled my order of clam chowder, (coming with dinner), due to not being hot, upon arrival. Flavor was lacking after the calamari appetizer, too. You be the judge.
I ordered 3 cheese pasta and added shrimp, instead. Sometime goes by...and bread does not come due to, loaf "going in oven" and 2nd loaf snatched up by another server...upstairs. Noted- sequence.
My hubby had 8 oz filet. Again, order arrives and potatoes and veggies cold. Mine was fine, warm enough dish. Server, advised she can take back filet, to re-serve potatoes and veggies. My husband explains filet will be cold...separate plate of potatoes and veggies are brought. Noted-sequence.
The experience was subpar due to being on downstairs dining floor and needing "runners" to deliver food, upon preparation.
The lack of bread, hot clam chowder, hot potatoes and veggies-delivery-"runner" per server directed option?
The attentiveness (in downstairs) goes below level of service, due to servers, not being able to really see, what is happening and the stairs. The details in service, cannot be recovered.
We support small family owned, collaborateed chef manager business establishments. We loved the story of its' origin. We were so looking forward to the view, the food, the experience... being able to tell all your roadtripper friends and family to stop by...
The difference in the experience is 10%- service, hot food, that is a difference, between an "A" or a "B".
Downstairs servers need "attentive and sequenctional" extra help-servers.
As a hospitality business owner(s) and nailing (per our opinion) your hotel service side, taking in hotel guests suggestions/review, please share your thoughts, regarding downstairs dining service.
How can you increase the 10% downstairs dining or should we wait (loosely) for upstairs dining?
The masterful seating assignment by 3 hostesses, was executed, not the extra care in guests dining experience. Our bill included 3 drinks, appetizer, 2 entrees, plus tip was $170 plus. You be the judge.
I look forward to a response regarding how not to embarrass (everyone) and put -off server by asking for new table. What is the polite step to take, in the middle of this...
Read moreThe is a combination Restaurant & refurbished motel, perched on a bluff overlooking St George. The hotel itself is a multi-unit box across from the old St George Airport. it in an restaurant alone. It is not landscape as of yet, in fact so brand new that the pool is not even open at this writing. It is not definitely the best face of a hotel and does not let you know what a world-class good experience it is
Each room opens up on to a private patio, right on the other side of a beautiful glass wall taking in the view. Such a fantastic view! Utah is the home of the thousand mile view., in the end takes full advantage of it. The room is fresh decorated with a combination of Pottery Barn Ikea influence. The pictures they took actually don't do it justice it is even nicer than the photos. For me, having a mattress on top of a box as opposed to a box spring is not a plus, but I slept well and work for me is a soft bed. Hey big spender! The brand new 50 inch screen was nice for sports, the service was excellent.
Let's get to the details that make travel to a spot like this so pleasant, a tic tac toe game and few other games for the kids or maybe those adults would like to play games. Fine linens and bath towels, the greatest man ever, free water, a decent little refrigerator tucked away in a beautiful Ikea style, blond wood cabinet console, and the best chocolate mints you ever wanna see.
My father and myself were very pleased, I was on a two week plus road trip taking my father to see all his nieces and nephews, in both Santa Barbara, Santa Rosa in California and out to Rifle, Colorado. We had seen ok, good, and very nice, it was so pleasing to have the end of the trip, on the way back to the Coachella Valley in California, to encounter great.
Well that about covers it great place to sleep. Lives up to the website. Great value for the room. Great value for the meal. Great service from the front desk to the wait staff, all of you guys. To the owners, I wish you luck, but I don't think you'll need it. You're making your own luck by putting out this top product.
If you are traveling on the 15 interstate, are coming to St George on purpose, this is a surefire can't miss.
But we were leaving that day Absolutely a five star experience in my book.
Oh, don't miss the room delivered, free continental breakfast. Or you can pick up a box to go. I only had the fruit cup and the orange juice, but they were both whole food worthy and being that the breads are house made, I'm sure that the pastries are...
