The food overall was okay. The crab cakes were not great. Felt like a pre-frozen then fried or air fried grocery store level. The fish I had was fine but a little bit over seasoned. The shrimp was fine but again over seasoned. So the food has room for improvement. The service was very slow, it took 46 minutes from order to table using frozen foods cooked the same way. As previously commented in reviews the menu fried rice was not available. Now I only give an average rating because I know it is new and what is referred to as a "soft start" meaning trying to open and work out the bugs before a grand opening. My wife asked for a small side salad rather than the offered mushroom or plain steamed rice substitute for the unavailable fried rice and told that was not an option. She had to order and pay for a salad instead. Unfortunately, I think the improvements needed may not occur as the food is mostly prepped outside the restaurant (not fresh) and brought in as frozen then heated, seasoned and served. The boils are probably the best bet for a batter option but seamed way over priced or at market value priced. Perhaps publishing a daily market value price sheet for the menu would help or post the today's market prices at the entrance? Overall, it feel short. I believe this restaurant is a Crab Shack wannabe. (I'm am not highly favorable of a crab shack either) but I would choose it over Rusty Crab Daddy. Sorry, but after months of anticipation I was let down, especially given the fact the owner is related to one of the finest restaurants in town. "Sakura" I give this restaurant 2 stars and hope they can improve but I will no return in the near future...
Read moreWe went for my birthday and when my partner told our waitress it was my birthday she said, "we will have dessert for you when you are ready. You just let me know when." Got the calamari as an appetizer and man was it tough and overcooked. It was almost rock hard.
We ordered the house platter because we were starving, and we knew we could eat most of it between the three of us. The flavor and heat level was on point however everything was so over cooked it was difficult to eat. It also gets really loud in there, it's all windows and no dividers or anything to absorb the sound. It was very difficult to have a conversation at our table as we were drowned out by a table of 8 and a table of 6. After dinner, I told our waitress that I was ready for my dessert. Our waitress brought out a platter of beignets, that were drowning in powdered sugar. I was disappointed that I had to fish my beignets out of the powdered sugar. We got the bill, and much to our surprise, they charged us for the beignets. I'm rather sad that they offered dessert for my birthday but then charged us for it. Most places offer dessert for free. And it isn't that we couldn't afford it, it's the implication that a birthday dessert was being offered but in...
Read moreSo excited to have a restaurant like this in town! I placed an online order and the wait was only 25 minutes. We got the crab rangoons, small shrimp fried rice, and the combo grilled plate with catfish and shrimp and loved everything. When I picked up my food the gentleman working explained to me that everything is cooked to order which might be part of the reason the wait may get long at times like other reviews have stated, but I consider this a great thing. I would much rather wait than immediately be served old seafood. Good things take time people, and I don’t understand why complain about a wait at a place like this, if you don’t have time you should eat somewhere with a drive thru (and also maybe consider not eating here the first week they are open when they will obviously be working through a few kinks, spare them some sympathy holy cow). I also saw another bad review saying that they didn’t have tartar sauce which is not true, I didn’t even ask for any and was given some in my to go bag. The service I received was great and I will definitely be returning and spreading the word about this place! I don’t even eat seafood that often but I have a feeling these guys will be...
