I’m very disappointed in the Wyndham Hotel in Saint George. I don’t like to use race as a excuse for things, but in this particular situation I honestly can’t see it another way.

I was in Utah for work & I was put up in the Wyndham hotel. Note that I have been coming up to Saint George for about a year now for work.

The story goes as such... I get off of work and go to my hotel room. I was tired so I hopped in the shower. I left the door to the shower open because I’m a little paranoid about being in a hotel and possibly getting things taken while I’m showering or in the restroom. I had to be in the shower for about 40-45 min. I didn’t think to open a window before I jumped in so it started to steam the room while I was showering. While I was in I hear the smoke detector and realize I should have closed the door. So I get out and wave my towel over it and open the window...the usual thing but it doesn’t seem to have much of an effect. I call down to the front desk and explain what happens. They tell me there is a button to press to make it stop (there wasn’t ). The lady at the front desk I believe her name was Becky came up to the room and tried to find this button that wasn’t there. While she was trying to figure it out the alarm went off. I thanked her and figured everything was taken care of.

So about 5-10 min later I get a call from Becky telling me that the fire department and the police were on their way. At this point I was confused to why because I didn’t believe it was that serious. I had to grab a spare pare of clothes from my car so I figured I’d just go down and talk to her and see what the deal was.

I get down stairs and I start asking Becky about protocol and if I will be charged for the fire department having to show up. She basically told me she was new and that I would have to talk to someone tomorrow when I check out then stated to me that the only reason the alarm would go off would be from smoking or high heat. I told her that I wasn’t smoking in the room and that when she walked in my room if she could see the condensation on the mirror from all the steam.

I wake up and check out of my room and I waiting to talk to whoever about the incident to make sure everything was good. I didn’t get the gentleman’s name that checked me out but something told me I should l have because I drive all the way back home to Vegas to discover a $254 dollar charge on my card, so I call immediately to find out what’s going on and I was told that I got fined for smoking in my room (which I didn’t), and I was told their was evidence that no one still has told me what it was because I would love to see evidence of something I know 100% without a doubt that I didn’t do.

I feel as though I was being targeted and I don’t deserve or appreciate it. It’s one of the worst feelings in the world being accused of something you know for a fact you did not do & I will and currently am pursuing action.

I wouldn’t recommend this...

Just had a chat with my brother and felt his story definitely needed to be out there for the greater good. My brother reserved their room online (not a third party) and it took the employees an hour to verify their room and get them a key. My brother was traveling through as well, so the business' slowness left them sitting for an hour in the lobby with two little kids... While another guest, who was checking in at the same time, used a third party site and he got in after 15 minutes. Ha! If you have time to waste, just check in using their website. The story gets better... sister-in-law had to get some business done while staying there, so they called in before hand to verify private space, which the staff verified was available. When they got there, the staff changed their story and claimed she couldn't use the private space because a "manager" wasn't there, and wouldn't be in the hotel till tomorrow... My sister in law had to use the lobby, while working with customers via webcam. You can sense the frustration trying to do this in public space. On top of that, when she finished her work, she noticed the manager suddenly reappeared (maybe from a state mandatory coffee break) ... So, she went to tell the manager about the terrible service they have had and the manager used his customer service skills, defending their lack of professionalism, by demonizing my sister-in-laws little kids for doing what little kids do, run around. Remember, they had to wait around for an hour. Then this fantastic manager avoided apologizing for what his employees did (who aren't little kids). The lack of professionalism and customer service is top notch here and it runs from the manager all the way down to the grunt. If you love getting agitated and annoyed by customer service, this is a 5 star hotel.

Wingate, way to go above and beyond in helping your guests out. I don't even know how you have a 4.5 rating. Simon Sinek would be appalled by...

Staying here now. Honestly not super impressed with our stay. My husband and I came from slc for only a short two night stay to see a show at tuachan. The pictures and reviews had us excited for our fun getaway. Immediately when you walk in the hotel has a funky smell. Can’t put my finger on it but it isn’t pleasant or welcoming. We got to our room and it was fine. Definitely seems a bit older as the wood in the bathroom is peeling off. We were in our room most of the day as my husband works remote. The wifi seems fine no complaints there. Unfortunately it didn’t feel clean. I am kind of a germaphobe so I may be a bit tougher critic but I have been to many hotels and this one I just didn’t feel comfortable in. In our short stay I found finger or toenail clipping in our bed on two separate occasions. Definitely not belonging to my husband or I. They only give two pillows and the headboard had smudges on it. There was a mystery something on the tile in the bathroom. I kept my shoes on the whole time with fear of what was on the floors. Bummed because my husband and I live in an apartment without a bathtub and I was excited to relax here. Brought my bubble bath but if the cleanliness of our room was already not making me comfortable I definitely didn’t want to sit in a tub that probably isn’t clean either. We don’t go on a lot of vacations so sad this one didn’t end up being as relaxing as I hoped. Breakfast was fine but nothing to call home about. Overall yeah just not impressed. Not the worst hotel I’ve ever been to but absolutely not what I expected and...

I stayed here for 2 nights for work. The team at the front desk were very friendly and helpful, I had to extend my stay after checking out and they quickly found me another room and were swift and accommodating to my situation. During my stay I even met a housekeeping manager who was fantastic. Every employee at the hotel was absolutely wonderful. The amenities, including the pool and spa here are great, there’s also a gym and a sitting area off the dining room used for breakfast and a business center with iPads. My rooms were both comfortable and clean. I had a king sized bed that was incredibly comfortable and the rooms are updated and modern with plenty of outlets to charge my devices, a desk to work at, and many lamps but my room was bright and had a great view. I like my room cold and the AC worked perfectly. Breakfast was wonderful, and they have great coffee too. The location is great- near the freeway and near a Walmart, some restaurants and a chevron so fueling up for the next leg of my trip was easy. Would definitely stay here again. This is now my preferred hotel in the St. George area!

We booked this room very last minute and had an amazing experience! For the quality of service, and quality of the room I feel it was fairly priced. The breakfast was fresh and delicious! It was not your typical continental breakfast, it was eggs, delicious potatoes, sausage, and waffles! About 20 minutes after check in, the front desk called to make sure my family and I were comfortable in the room they gave us. They wanted to make sure it was good enough for our stay. It is a very clean hotel, and all of the staff members that we encountered were very nice! We will be back! Oh and all rooms have a microwave, and fridge!!! I definitely recommend this place for everyone! Don’t forget to bring your furry kids, because they’re welcome too ❤️

St. George Utah is a very convenient place to stop when driving to or from Colorado and California. The drive is just too long to do in a single day. This trip we were coming out of Saline Valley (part of Death Valley) in mid November and back to the Front Range. Stopping in St. George allows us to consider the weather to determine if the pass up I70 is open or if we need to divert up to Salt Lake and use I80 if it's not. This was my first time at a Wyndham but it won't be my last. Room was spacious, clean and nicely appointed. It was also extremely quiet! Very close to freeway access in the western end of St. George. Complimentary breakfast included and free parking right in front of the lobby. Friendly, welcoming staff.
