Modern Warriors — Local services in Saint George

I've bought countless guns from Modern Warriors and I'm disappointed with the way I've been treated the last four times I've visited. Recently I stopped by to see if they could do a simple scope leveling for me and I was told it would be $75. I asked the guy since it was a relatively quick process if they could just do me a deal (especially considering how much money I've spent with them). I was instantly met with a snarky response of "how quick do you think you could mount a scope". I've tried to look past the overpriced guns and accessories and the poor customer service I've experienced but this will probably be the last time I shop at Modern Warriors.

EDIT: Hey Todd, I appreciate your kind and professional response to the previous version of my review. Because i got the impression you genuinely care about the service your customers receive i decided to go and purchase another gun from you guys.

I got a crazy good deal on an AR15 which I couldn't pass up, so I am excited about that. Although I am happy with my purchase, there were a few things which made my experience sub par once again. Initially when i went into inquire about the rifle, i asked the salesman if he had any advice or opinions on the brand. He didn't care to say anything other than "I've never shot one". I understand he didn't want to give advice where he had no experience, but i was a little disappointed he didn't care to seek input from any of his coworkers so i could make a more informed decision.

Next, after i decided to purchase the rifle, I had an ID which didn't have my current address on it. I was told a utility bill would work as proof of address, but when i showed the salesman my most current statement he told me it wasn't current enough and id have to get one which reflected a more recent date. It was close to closing time at the shop so i decided id just come back the next day with a different form of proof of address. When i called in the next day to ask about a different proof of address, I was helped by a different sales person which had taken the time to seek input from the compliance person at the shop about my utility bill date. The compliance person responded by saying my utility bill was indeed a valid form of proof and the date was okay as long as it was within 90 days. This led me to realize that the initial salesman had misinformed me which forced me to have to come all the way back on another day to pick up the rifle i could have just purchased the prior evening.

When i finally got around to doing all the paperwork and picking out parts for the rifle, i asked about getting some help on swapping out a stock and pistol grip on the rifle. Nothing too extensive, just putting on an adjustable Magpul stock and MOE grip. I could of course do this at home but i figured it would save me time and effort considering i don't have as nice of tools to do the job myself. I was immediately told i would have to pay the armorer a fee to have them fit the two pieces to the rifle. Not a cheap fee either. I guess what disappoints me about this is I thought since I'm a paying customer (many times over) this would have been a simple complimentary thing to do. I could understand if i was bringing in a rifle i already owned and asked them to fit the parts, but i was buying the entire kit at the store. I feel like the least they could do is go the extra mile to help a loyal customer.

I write this not with the intent of speaking ill of Modern Warriors but as an insight to help continuously improve customer service where I feel its necessary. I have changed my rating just slightly and i appreciate the opportunity of shop at Modern...

A gun shop with a 4.9 rating? Yea, right, no way. Oh, it’s true, trust me. How do you get that high a rating? Easy. Hard work, well trained employees, a crazy inventory, competitive prices and most importantly, an owner that actually cares! In my 58 years of life, I have been to many, many gun shops across the 5 states that I have lived in. The best I could ever hope for would be a “decent or OK” local gun shop. Some have a decent selection. Some have decent customer service. Most have neither. But when you are spending your hard-earned money why do we need to put up with “decent”? Why do we have to deal with the untrained grumpy salespeople at the local shop? Why do we need to hope they have what we need in stock and at a decent price? Todd is the owner of Modern Warriors Gun Shop. I assume before he opened his gun store, Todd must of asked himself these same questions. Why do I assume this? Because I can tell he answered all these questions before opening his doors in 2013. First off, all his employees are well trained. Ask them a question and they will gladly respond giving you all the information you may need. It doesn’t matter if you are buying a top-of-the-line AR15, a custom hunting rifle or a box of ammo, they are there to help and answer questions. If you look at the over 700+ almost perfect reviews you see on google, there is one thing that sets them apart from every other gun shop I have ever been to. You will notice that when you do read a negative review, you will also immediately see the owner responding to the review. Not defending his store or employees, but asking the customer if they can take a few minutes to discuss the issue or problem they had in the store and Todd will give them his email and direct line. Why? Simple. He actually cares about the customer and the reputation of his store. You can tell as soon as you walk into his shop. It is a different vibe than your normal gun shop. I hate to call his store a “gun shop”. It feels more like a “showroom”. If you haven’t been there, take a look at the google pics and you can see what I mean. It is almost overwhelming (in a good way). Unfortunately, I currently do not live near them anymore. But when I need to buy anything substantial, I contact them first. I just had him ship me a new Sig MPX to my local shop in Idaho. None of my local shops had what I needed I know that using Modern Warriors for my Transfers assures my firearm will make it to my FFL holder quick and in one piece.
