I will start of with YES I recommend this hotel.||We chose this mainly because we were on our way home from camping in the Midwest and we needed a hotel that had room for our truck and 5th wheel (50 feet long total). We do not want to unhook it - it's just too much work for an overnight. This hotel did not disappoint. The parking lot is large enough to turn around and maneuver. We parked on the north side of the parking lot. We felt safe leaving it overnight. It is easy off and on the interstate and there are gas stations easily available (diesel too).||This hotel is clean and the room was clean. It is also well maintained. We did use the exercise room - also clean and well maintained. Did not use the pool. The bed was very comfortable - in fact my husband said that it was the most comfortable bed he ever slept in. Their ice machines were GREAT and worked well. ||The breakfast was one of the better hotel breakfasts. There was choice of an omelet (egg and cheese). It was probably a frozen egg and cheese that they heated up. But we actually liked it. Second egg choice: Egg white omelet with veggies. Two sausage choices: Pork and turkey sausage. Fresh cut up fruit along with a bowl of apples and oranges. The bread was high quality with a choice of bagel, danish. They offered juices, cartons of milk, yogurt. You could also make waffles with regular and sugar free syrup. If you are not up to the above choices there is oatmeal and cereal. The coffee was good. ||The staff cared about their jobs. They had excellent customer service and were friendly and knowledgeable. The women who took care of the breakfast were on top of things. They did not let things go, they immediately came out to care for and resupply the breakfast.||There are some eating places within walking distance. This is important since our truck is attached to our 5th wheel in the parking lot. You do have to cross a 4 lane road, but it is not that busy so we felt safe doing so. It was VERY hot when we were there - 98 degrees and high humidity - so we did not walk far. We ended up at a nearby subway. ||I would not hesitate to stay here again if I am ever travelling through...
Read moreWe chose this hotel as it was highly rated. We had a horrible Holiday Inn experience in Los Alamos, and weren't eager to try HI again, but decided to due to the positive reviews.
We were greeted by friendly staff when we arrived and the hotel lobby was clean and well done. We went up to our room and it looked fairly clean. I did notice, however, hair on the floor in the bathroom. I decided to pick it up as the rest of the room looked fairly clean.
However, a short time later my daughter called out to me to come quick. She had pulled back the sheets and there was hair on the pillows and sheets - the bed obviously hadn't been changed. I then checked the other queen bed and also found hair there.
We went downstairs and staff was very apologetic. The woman then told me that the sheets were clean, but that they were having trouble with their dryers not getting the hair out (something about static electricity causing hair to go back on the sheets!). She told me that housekeeping had been instructed to use a lint roller to get the hair off sheets, and that ours probably had forgotten (Ewww!). She offered me a lint roller to clean the bed. I requested a room change and was promptly given one! - She was kind enough to give us an upgrade. I appreciated her effort.
Imagine my dismay to arrive in the new room and find one bed clean and one with hair. I went back downstairs to discuss the situation - their solution - to give me a lint roller. I returned upstairs with a huge lint roller to "roll the hair" out of my bed. We had been caught in a bad storm the night before and were exhausted, so just decided to make due... but let me tell you, this hotel will go down in our family lore as one of the worst and most bizarre experiences. Who gives a guest a lint roller to take another guest's hair out of the sheets???!!!
I will say that the staff in the morning at breakfast were quite friendly and kept the breakfast area very clean and well stocked.
Also, when we checked in and asked for suggestion of a place to eat, the staff at the desk were extremely helpful, offering suggestions...
Read moreWe had a room over the weekend for a wrestling tournament. We checked in late once we arrived in Salina. The employee at the service desk seemed to be annoyed that we were checking in at 9pm. We had decided to extend our stay another night so I asked to add an extra night to our booking she said she couldn't do that because I had booked with another site and would have to go through them. I asked if there were rooms available before contacting the other site she said she didn't know.... We checked in ans went up to our room. The bathroom had hair in the shower and on the sink. We cleaned the bathroom before using it. There was not a stopper in the tub so we called down and requested one and was told there were not any in the hotel.
The fixture holding the hand soap was not locked on correctly and fell apart as soon as I attempted to use the pump.
The kids went down to the pool and we planned on sitting in the hot tub that I made sure was available when booking the room. The kids informed us that the water was too cold to swim in and so was the hot tub so they asked the service desk about the temperature and the employee said the have both been broken for some time.
My friends family was staying in the room next door to us and the outlets in their room were not working. So they could not charge their phones or watch television. The wifi was also not connecting to which the service desk advised "yeah its been messing up lately."
All in all between our two families we spent approximately 500 dollars for 2 nights and were unable to use any of the amenities we had paid for and staff acted like it was not their problem and gave a get over it attitude the entire weekend. Management was not present over the weekend and had to be contacted by phone to authorize any sort of discount and refund for the electrical issue and was only contacted after 4 or 5 phone calls to the hotel during the wrestling tournament. ABSOLUTELY THE WORST HOTEL EXPERIENCE I...
