Marifah Inn Salina — Hotel in Salina

Do not stay here! My son and I got a room here because of the price and after being on a long road trip, I was tired and just wanted some R and R. Instead we battled flies by fumigating our room with bug spray, graciously given to us by the front desk, all while having to fix the toilet and having a “hotel” employee install a cable box so we could watch tv. After most of the flies were dead and I was taking a break watching a movie and trying to relax, the door handle to our room started making noise and as I’m jumping up, 2 different hotel employees came into our room with a key! No knock! No nothing! And as I yelled “Do you normally come into guest rooms without knocking first?!?” They were repeatedly saying “Oh I’m sorry, we didn’t know you were in here.” Really?!? So why were you coming into our room in the first place?!? I had enough at that point and we packed our things, got a refund, and got the hell out of there. I should’ve known not to go there because the employees already looked shady. Loud music, drinking beer while trimming hedges, just trust me... Shady! In the end, we went to the Holiday Inn Express on the other side of the interstate and after sharing our experience with staff there... We were told that place has a bad reputation for guest rooms being robbed of valuables! Maybe that’s what they had intended when they came in our room and said oh sorry we didn’t know you were in here?!? Wow! Do not stay here! The only reason they even get the one star is because leaving none...

We thought the low price was due to COVID 19 and them trying to get customers in....how wrong we were. 1st room - shards of broken glass on carpet, insect carcasses, bed had been made up but obviously bedding had not been changed from last guest, food between the bed and the nightstand, bits of paper on floor - obviously not vacuumed. 2nd room - opened door to smell of mold and a large, wet, black/brown spot in middle of floor. 3rd room - looked better until a roach ran out from under the bed across my husband's foot. Lobby wasn't clean, ice machine not working. Hotel obviously not doing ANY COVID-19 cleaning at all. We've been long time Best Western rewards members for years and I am embarrassed for the corporation that this hotel bears their name. Left and went to another hotel in town. Room should be refunded but I'm sure it won't be. NEVER AGAIN!! Would give a negative stars review if that...

The service was terrible and the staff very unprofessional. The rooms were dirty and only cleaned once in my four night stay. I had to request fresh towels from the front desk, because the maid didn’t clean my room, and they were delivered at 1:30am. The room key rarely worked. The room was musty and smelled like someone had been smoking in the room. The shower drained slowly, when it drained at all. The pillows and bed were lumpy and uncomfortable. The pool was so full of chlorine you couldn’t even walk in the building. The exterior stairs to the second floor are starting to rust through. The parking lot was full of pot holes and looked like it hadn’t been repaired in years. There was trash under stairwells, trash cans overflowing outside, and just general trash everywhere. This was a nice hotel in 2019 but looked like no upkeep had been...
