I stayed here for 2 weeks upon arrival and staff was friendly let us know of food options upfront a shuttle and complimentary breakfast. The items listed for breakfast aren’t necessarily available this goes for their menu of offered foods as well each time I attempted to have a bite or drink I was handed a menu watched while i looked it over and upon ordering i was informed that they didn’t have any drink options I choose but i was informed as I picked each drink…so i say ill have a margarita they say oh we don’t have it i then try a different drink and again this happened until i said what do you have and he stated only beer. I accepted this and decided to go out. This happened 3 nights before I just decided they wouldn’t be having anything I desired. Day 3 we left our room for what was assumed to be cleaning however it never happened when we spoke with the front desk they stated that they would let the cleaning ladies know so we leave again for a few hours come back and the room is still not been cleaned to where the front desk informs that they have left for the day and would do it the next day. Next day at 8am a woman knocks to clean we ask for 10 minutes to get my daughter up and out the room we leave again for 2 hours come back and she hasn’t cleaned the room we continue to wait bit I see her as we are leaving and I ask her for a timeframe if possible and she tell me she is going to clean it now. We go to breakfast and to do laundry return to a still unclean room this time front desk says that cleaning needs to be asked for which we had done so I ask for the hotels policy on cleaning the rooms and he then just ask me do it want the room cleaned…and well obviously thats what we are trying to get sorted out. I say yes and i was trying to understand how it all worked since i would be here for 14 days, when the young woman was done “cleaning” all she had done was make the beds we had to ask for towels the cups were left dirty the soap was completely out i had to leave mid shower to get a refill, the toilet wasn’t even touched nor the toilet paper refilled, i went out and got supplies and cleaned myself (I never was told the policy and never had my room cleaned again). While staff was nice they weren’t very helpful . I had other issues related to kids jumping off beds in the middle of the night when asked if thy could maybe check it out I was told it was likely old noise from the hotel then was offered points and a room change which I declined due to having to wait for one to be “cleaned” for the rest of my stay I figured anything i may need from them...
Read moreThis hotel just missed getting five stars. The front desk folks are friendly and accommodating. The shuttle is great for getting to and from the airport and the drivers are very nice. They picked us up the night we arrived in SLC and then drove us back the next morning to pick up our rental car so we could head to Park City. When Avis’ computer systems crashed and it took much longer than expected to get our car, they extended our check out for no additional cost.
The rooms are very spacious, with a large living room style area separated from the sleeping area. The beds were comfortable and so was the heating/cooling. We were only staying overnight so I wasn’t trying to be too fussy. But what caused me to deduct a star were two things. The first was that when I booked the reservation on the website (I’m a member of the hotel’s rewards program) I specified I wanted a room not on the top floor and as far from the elevator as possible. Other reviews had mentioned the top floors were noisy due to the mechanical systems being directly above you. I will say I didn’t find this to be true. But I never take a room near the elevator. It’s just my “thing.” And we were given a room on the top floor and the only way it could have been closer to the elevator was if it had been IN the elevator. The hotel was not full and the front desk gentleman did not offer us another room. Normally I would insist on one, but that night I was too tired. Being in that room by the elevator was not quiet and some people brought their stinky take-out food leftovers and laid them near the trash by the elevators, so that wasn’t pleasant. Good rule of thumb: don’t ask your guests on the reservation form what they’d like in a room and then provide the opposite.
The second thing was our room looked clean and smelled clean, but I found several hairs in and around the bathtub and two on top of the duvet cover on one of the beds. To me, that’s unacceptable. Note to housekeeping; check for these little details because they make a big impression.
But I’m still giving the hotel four stars for friendly staff, spacious rooms in good repair, great shuttle, free breakfast, and accommodating our issue with needing a last minute late checkout. It won’t take much to fix the issues I’ve named and then the place...
Read moreAs a Platinum Guest, I always enjoy my stay at the Hyatt House which is roughly 150 nights a year. This stated, I am compelled to write a brief review about the Hyatt House SLC Airport.
After completing a Project Assessment in Fillmore, Utah on Thursday September 11th 2014, I was scheduled to fly back East that evening. However, inclement weather back East delayed my flight until early Friday Morning September 12th 2014. With a race in town and all the hotels near the airport booked 100% including the Hyatt House I figured the next best option was to travel over to the Hyatt House and relax in the Lobby.
Having stayed there on September 6th and 7th I felt comfortable and safe at the Hyatt House even if it meant relaxing on the couch in the Lobby. After sitting in the Couch area working on my presentation for about an hour the 3rd shift Front Desk Associate (who had been very busy signing in numerous race drivers) came over and asked if I needed anything. I briefly explained my situation and even though it was almost Midnight "He" (can't remember his name) said let me see what I can do.
At the time, I had already prepared myself for a long restless night in the Lobby but with diligence the 3rd Shift Associate pulled some strings and within minutes I was relaxing in Room 511. After a 5 hour rest in a soft luxurious bed, I showered then went downstairs for breakfast and coffee.
The professionalism and real concerned demonstrated by the 3rd shift Associated really improved my trip and I would be remiss if I did not share my story with all you other Business Travelers.
Being able to rest after an extremely long day helped me face yet another challenge I experienced on Friday when trying to land in Virginia our flight was diverted to North Carolina then Cancelled upon landing within the Tar Heel State which meant a Rental car drive home.
Having rested the night before because of the great level of customer service increased my energy level and without a doubt made my long drive from North Carolina to my Home in the Mountains of Virginia a safer and pleasurable one.
Thank you Hyatt House Salt Lake City Airport for inadvertently helping me get home safe to my family.
Sincerely,
Donald "Radar" Huntsinger Senior Consultant and Project Manager Allied...
