I really wanted to enjoy our dinner here. We'd been driving for 5 hours, checked into our hotel near the SLC Airport and hadn't eaten. One of the only places not located in another hotel. Took a good 20 minutes for anyone to even acknowledge we were waiting for a table. They were out of soup, so salad, which I normally enjoy. There was so much water from the lettuce not being drained my son couldn't even finish his it was so watered down. He ordered Shrimp Alfredo. I did not try it. He stated the shrimp was "chewy" which translated to either over cooked or microwaved to me as we often have shrimp at home. Noodles were strong on flour needed more egg for balance. Sauce had a good flavor from what he told me. I ordered the Chicken Marsala to have them come back 15 minutes later with no menu and tell me that was not available. Chicken Primavera was the onlything other than spaghetti I could easily remember. Sauce was like water, too much lemon and spotty hot and cold, again like it was microwaved. Had a list of locally crafted beer on the wall. They were out of the first one I ordered. Out of about 6 listed they only had 2. Ordered the Blonde. Came out warm with 2 inches of foam for $8.50. If I want warm beer I'll move to Germany, thank you! Total bill was about $60 for one of the most disappointing meals I've ever had. 2 of their staff were exceptional! One absolutely sweet woman who was running her butt of while the other waitress took her damn sweet time everywhere. The other was the gentleman who seated us and at the very least brought us menus and water. He was attentive and kind and was trying to help pick up slack. You guys have a great location near the airport! Make it a place people want to go instead of regretting their decision. It says fresh made, but fresh heated in the microwave out of the freezer isn't fresh made. We make fettuccine at home, this was off! Vegetables in the Chicken Primavera absolutely were dumped out of...
Read moreI would never have stumbled upon this place if I weren't visiting family staying at a hotel nearby and I'm very glad I did. While the restaurant is humble in appearance it makes up for it with its delicious homemade diner style food.
There portions are quite large and most of their appetizers could probably be eaten as a meal by itself. The menu isn't the largest selection but its surprisingly diverse. My group stayed in the the $8-$10 range with their sandwich, soup and salad selections but their $15 salmon and steak platters sounded great. I also overheard they had a kid menu if you wanted smaller portions.
All of their food, sauces and dressings are house made so there is a bit of a wait but it is definitely worth it. I had their Roasted Red Pepper Bisque which was one of the best soups I have ever tasted. After sharing a bite with those on my table they changed their side dish to that as well. The bread on all their sandwiches is house made as well and is very good quality. I had their Philly Cheese steak which was more of a french dip with onions and green peppers. If I were to get it again I would ask for a little Aus Jus on the side as it was a little dry. Other than that I wouldn't change a thing. The meat, the veggies, the soup, the bread everything else I tried was delicious and very good quality. Will definitely be a repeat customer even if it is in an isolated area of the city.
If you're in the area don't miss out on this place!
PS I had a taste of my sisters brownie sundae and their brownie and fudge recipe is one of the best I've tasted. I might have to go back just to try out...
Read moreCame in with a co-worker for a meeting. Brought my water bottle in from car as I didn't want plastic melting into my water as it was 102 out. Was promptly told no outside drinks allowed. Luckily I had my backpack to stuff it in. Never was brought any water. Had to order food to go with my beer (understand...it's the code) but they don't have any appetizers. Ordered Pacific Pannini, and first bite I take I get a mouthful of Jalapenos. I'm allergic to Jalapenos. Cook made wrong Pannini (Firebird?) even though we were the only table in the place at the time. Waiter offered to take it back, but I only ordered it to have a beer while my cohort are his Late lunch. Never was offered any discounting of mistake. Despite all of this, I still left a descent tip and was even going to leave a 2nd tip for the shift turnover given we were squating. But we couldn't get anyone to wait on us to break change. Now that I think of it, Once the shift turnover happened no one else ever asked how we were doing. I think 2 stars is being generous. But the beer was good, and food was good, it just wasn't what I ordered and couldn't eat it. I would...
