Booked this hotel for my kids and their dad since he was on a visit with them and needed a place to stay since he came about 3 hours away & as we were checking in the lady in the front desk sees that the booking is only for two kids & 1 adult & I told her yes I am only here to help him drop the things off since he’s on a visit with his kids and we are gonna go eat at Dennys then I will be leaving home & she said okay and gave them the room that’s right in front of the stairs in the lobby since she kept asking if I was staying or not which was fine but I already had a weird feeling about her and as we are paying she’s trying to charge his card $333 when I booked it on booking.com for $233 then when I tried explaining it to her she then tells me that no it’s $333 for the damage deposit too and I said okay so can we pay you the deposit in cash since he only has $233 in his bank she says yes then proceeds to say never mind we don’t accept cash okay fine so then I proceed to tell her it’ll be two transactions one from his card and one from mine at that point I was frustrated with going back and forth with this lady about the deposit and after I say it’ll be two transactions she did not like this and told me that if we left to take cash out of the atm that they would still charge us for the room as it would be to late too cancel which I would’ve understood if we were the ones canceling it but we weren’t it was her doing & her words after were I’m just gonna cancel your booking we don’t have a room for you so I said okay we then proceed to argue and name call back and forth & she starts doing a face where she sticking out her tongue like a little girl and we left as we were leaving she proceeds to yell more things to us from the window I then go back and exchange more words with her and left then we crossed the street and the guy who I’m assuming works there too was wanting to stop us to see what happened at that point we were fed up it was raining and we had our two young children outside & to top it all off she didn’t cancel the booking until I contacted the customer service line on booking.com & she still proceeded to charge our card the $233 dollars for the booking after denying us the room which we are now disputing with our bank!!! Not to mention when booking.com contacted her she told them she isn’t able to cancel our booking and that it had to be the owner who would not be in until Monday or Tuesday well miraculously after that call my booking was canceled & still no refund ( also please note that she has done this to multiple people as I am reading their reviews on multiple apps & it seems like the lady is an issue and...
Read moreWe're a family of four. Staying 2 nights. There's only a handful of parking spots, otherwise you'll have to find parking on the street. Luckily there was one parking spot available when I got there around 8pm. Check-in was quick and easy. In Room 20, there is bedroom with a queen, and in the living room there is a convertible couch that is queen or full-size. Bathroom and full kitchen (sink, stove microwave, oven, refrigerator). When were getting ready for bed, converting the couch, we noticed a stain and we needed sheets and blankets. So, I went to the front desk and told them about the stain and asked them for sheets and blankets. The guy told me the sheets and blankets were under the sofa cushion and walked me back to the room to verify the stain. When we got to the room he first proceeded to show us where the sheets and blankets were, but when he went to grab it, it wasn't there. Then he looked at the stain, rubbed it, went to the room next door, came back and said it's left over water from the steam cleaning they just did on the couches. I was too tired to argue, so I nodded my head and asked him for 2 blankets and 2 sheets. He came back with one blanket and 2 sheets. Said they ran out of blankets but that the one blanket was big enough. After he left, we noticed a puddle under the toilet, which was coming from a leak in the toilet. Went to the front desk again. The guy inspected it and said he didn't have the tools to fix it and he'll call maintenance in the morning. Then he asked what time we'd be going out tomorrow. I didn't think it was any of his business so I vaguely said morning-ish. He seemed annoyed by that answer, but said he'd have maintenance look at it once we left. When we returned at night the following day. I noticed the toilet was still leaking. I had no problem with the stain or toilet, but the fact that the guy seemed annoyed that I was pointing that stuff out, the lack of blankets, and he only said "sorry" once (it didn't seem authentic, more if a forced sorry) made me very upset. The low customer service is the reason I'd never stay there again, nor would I ever recommend...
Read moreThis hotel experience was by far the worst customer service in all my travels. WARNING: for future travelers, beware of the hotel overbooking rooms and doing nothing to accommodate you.
I travel most of the year for work, and I've worked for hotels. Everything about this hotel's service was shady. The man working the front desk, "David," especially made this travel experience a nightmare.
We booked and received confirmation of the room for the night, yet when we showed up he told us there was no vacancy. I told him I had a booking confirmation number for that day's date, but he wouldn't look it up in the system. He implied that I booked the wrong date. I showed him the date, and he confirmed it was correct, but still would not do anything. Confused, I asked, "Where are we supposed to stay?" He responded, "Not my problem."
The second I left, I immediately received an email from the booking website that the hotel reported my card as declined, and that was the reason for canceling. Having worked front desk in a hotel before, it was obvious the hotel staff had overbooked and lied about a "declined" credit card to cover their mistake to the booking website.
I went back in to confront them about this, but they again denied it, even though I showed my emails.
With no place to stay because of the hotel's overbooking, we called the booking website immediately. They told us that the staff's procedures were in violation of the booking site's regulations and called the hotel. But, the booking site hotline employee told us that the hotel staff reported they changed staff, and no one was available to comment on what happened.
We were literally just outside the hotel lobby and knew that the staff had not been changed. It was another obvious lie from hotel staff to cover up their overbooking mistake.
In the end, we had no place to stay in San Diego, which ruined our original plans for the night.
*For any future travelers, be careful that they haven't overbooked...
