Hello everyone, I'd like to get straight to the point and share that my fiance and I, like others..made a huge mistake when skipping over this hotel numerous times...We idiotically went with the opinions and experiences of others..RATHER than our own..spending more money..driving far out of our way..all over assumptions..We finally gave it a chance and we immediately found the hotel and room itself exceeded our expectations-by far.
Personally, I look for cleanliness, and service. $84 is a price you cannot beat- I'm unsure if people take the time to realize that what they're getting here surpasses the standards of MANY hotels that charge 2 to 3 times the cost..
The room is basic and very SOLID. It comes with a desk, lounge chair, TV, Closet, Microwave, Safe, and Bed. Also the bonus of a 12 noon check-out!!! I ALWAYS inspect the sheets/beds at ANY hotel-They were COMPLETELY CLEAN..
Let's be honest- Many people are prone to look at the area Surestay is in, the price and the reviews- Based on that, we compare and assume what it's going to be. It is a real slap of reality when you see first hand that you are wrong. A BRAND alone doesn't make a hotel what it is- The STAFF does. The staff- from the manager to the front desk, to the maids are all part of what makes this location what it is- They're all very very nice and accommodating.
Yes the parking becomes full, but that isn't the staffs fault. It is out of anyone's control isn't it? There is parking downstairs- It is not far at all. It's a close distance to your room no matter where it is. Secondly, it is not odd at all that Surestay is next to Holiday Inn. In this particular area there aren't many hotels at all. They are built and located differently than in other areas of San Jose. Also, and most importantly-I'm POSITIVE the closeness of the buildings have absolutely NO BEARING on your stay whatsoever.
As a matter of fact, the Holiday Inn is brand new and Surestay has an equal rating. Bottom line, when you need a place to lay your head, Surestay offers solid rooms at a fantastic price. The rooms are clean and it is located with easy access to tons of restaurants, as well as grocery stores, gas stations, and a laundromat. They also offer the lowest prices directly on their site along with $50 off when you register and stay two consecutive days or two nights regardless.
My only only only upset was being woken up hours before my alarm. I came to the hotel to get a break away from everything going on in my life. I was running on little sleep and was set to wake up hoping to have a regular full night of rest. The staff knocked on the door several times until it woke me and then walked in. Im assuming they didnt hear me say "please not right now I'm sleeping". I wasn't feeling well was unable to go back to sleep. The 2nd morning the same thing. This sounds dramatic but I just about cried over the fact that I was so desperate to get rest. This time they did not walk in. They merely asked if I was staying a second night..But again..I was unable to go back to sleep and had to checkout. Both times were around 8-10am approx. I was and still am confused as check out is 12. I've never heard of anything like that nor have I ever had that happen.
When I wasnt feeling well they were kind enough to bring me a new key so I didnt have to go to the front desk which was very sweet. That would be the only thing I would change. If it is common practice to check in with guests, I'd notate that on the itinerary.
I wish I remembered all of their names!! But thank you everyone for being so kind and offering such a nice stay!!!
GIVE SURESTAY A TRY!!!!!! DONT HESITATE OVER THE COMPLAINTS OF OTHERS!!! REMEMBER YOUR ATTITUDE REFLECTS THE WAY YOU ARE TREATED IN RETURN!! SOME THINGS ARE OUT OF THE STAFFS CONTROL! FOR $84 YOU GET AN EXCELLENT ROOM!...
Read more(ELECTRIC VEHICLE OWNERS) Beware you will pay multiple times for EV charging making gas cars cheaper because of their exploit. They don't have official chargers from companies like Chargepoint. Instead they hired an electrician to install a tesla and a j117 charger. So This place is already more expensive because it has EV charging costing a premium for the room extra $60-70 than any other hotel without ev charging, BUT on top of that they charge you $15 to use the charger? booked two more night stays and they charged me again another $15. So all in all payed 3+ times to use the charger? Literally everywhere else is FREE charging literally every other hotel that has ev charging DOES NOT CHARGE YOU. Regardless of how decent the rooms are I don't think i will be staying here again, Much cheaper to stay at a hotel without ev charging and just get gas in my car since its a plug in hybrid since America doesn't have the proper infrastructure for EV's yet. I'll be writing a letter to corporate letting them know what they are doing is not right and they will be deterring customers away because if they read my review they will probably book elsewhere. Also some side notes on EV charging you literally have to bug them every time to essentially take the padlock off the main breaker switch so the power can go to the charger, it's pretty ghetto considering how much this place costs. Inconvenience at it's highest, because most of the time there are car's that aren't even ev's and they are parked there so now i have to wait for the hotel host to go next door and get the employee working at that hotel to get them to move their car. It's pretty freaking annoying that i payed for ev charging 3 times and have to go to through this experience. EV charging is supposed to be simple effortless seamless and quick not a 10 minutes waiting to get my car to be able to park and charge experience. Literally every other hotel that has EV charging is so much more convenient. I will highly recommend staying elsewhere if you drive an EV as this experience will probably frustrate you. I did some calculations based on how much i payed for EV and i would have saved $95 if i had just stuck with a hotel without EV and just payed for...
Read moreFirst of all, careful! The Holiday Inn will overshadow this hotel, and you'll most likely pass this over. Just once you see the Holiday in, turn in just after that building. Part of the parking is shared with the Holiday Inn, but the underground parking is definitely theirs. One of the things I like about this hotel is the fact that are one of the last ones that still offers a breakfast of any sort. Some breakfast items get switched out every so often, but when it came to the muffins, it seems that once certain ones were out, they didn't necessarily replace them. Seemed like the selection of muffins became less and less by the end of my stay --they still had them at least.
One crazy thing though is when I checked in, I tried out my key to the room they had assigned me, and it didn't work at first. So I went back down, they confirmed the room number, then reprogrammed the key. The funny thing though, is when we finally got in, I saw purses on the table, and luggages by the bed. So I went back to the lobby to let them know, and then they reassigned me another room. I'm just lucky no one was in that room, and...
