One of the worst meals of my life. I meant to order from La costa by Marina foods but accidentally ordered online from here. I didn't realize this place existed with a name almost identical but is a totally different restaurant.
But okay, my mistake, I'll get to try a new place since I already made the order. My heart sank when I saw the reviews. And they're spot on.
The burrito was TINY and I'm not exaggerating when I say it literally has a spoonful of meat in it. And that's in the ENTIRE burrito. What a sick joke.
As for the horchata, a previous reviewer described it perfectly. It literally tastes like rubber. And I'd add in that it also tastes like rubber and dirty socks. It's AWFUL. I understand this isn't a Mexican restaurant and is South American and maybe this is a different style of horchata but it's awful and I'm pretty sure people are expecting sweet milky cinnamonly goodness and not this..
The quesadilla was pretty good. It's hard to mess up melting cheese in a tortilla.
I also had an Al pastor taco which was really bad. But somehow had 4x the meat the burrito did? Explain that.
Just don't go here. You've...
Read morei will never eat here again, a couple months ago my girlfriend and I ordered to go. Time wasn't an issue because I live in north SJ. I get there to pick up my food and the ambience is off, the great customer service I once knew was gone took 5 minutes so someone could ring me up. I got a bad feeling I mean all we ordered are pupusas, so I check my order in the car to find I had hand made Salvadorean Tortillas. I was bit excited because I hadn't had any in a long time. But, there's no frijoles no queso nada nothing just tortillas. I can't remembef who it was but I was livid, I told them what happened and do you know what they did? They took them back in the kitchen 20mins later I get my order I check it YOU WILL NOT BELIEVE THAT THEY CUT OPEN ALL THE PUPUSAS AND STUFFED THEM AND THEN PUT THEM BACK TOGETHER LIKE A SANDWICH AND GAVE THEM TO ME. I WILL NEVER NEVER EVER COMEBACK AND I DO NOT RECOMMEND IT TO NO ONE. FOOD MAY TASTE GOOD BUT WHOEVER IS THERE WHEN THE OWNER IS NOT THEY NEED TO LEAVE or CLOSE...
Read moreBest pupusas in the South Bay, hands down. I got the pupusas revueltas (pork, beans & cheese) and they were delicious. Excellent flavor, good combination of cheese-y bean-y goodness. Om nom nom.
We also tried the tamales, and those were very savory. Probably the least dry tamale I have ever tasted, and it had a really juicy flavor to it. I thought that the meat/corn balance was really good, and it is also probably the best tamale that I have had to this date. I recommend the chicken one over the pork, but both were excellent.
All in all, this place is delicious, but it is possible that you could have a bad experience service-wise if you don't speak spanish. At first, I thought that our waitress was a little stand-offish, but she admitted that her english just wasn't very good when I asked her to explain one of the menu items, and since I speak spanish, I just asked her to explain it to me that way and then we were good to go...
