My recent stay at The Marlowe Boutique Hotel in Santa Barbara was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment I arrived, I was enchanted by its perfect blend of vintage charm and modern luxury. Situated in a prime location just two blocks from the beach and across from the historic train station, the hotel made exploring Santa Barbara both effortless and delightful.
I stayed in the Vista Suite, and it was truly charming—every detail thoughtfully curated. The cozy bedroom featured an incredibly comfortable bed, and the unique fabric ceiling paired with a movie projector added a whimsical yet sophisticated touch. Relaxing on the suite's balcony while enjoying picturesque views of the mountains and historic architecture was a highlight of my stay.
The hotel's amenities were impeccable—luxury linens, plush bathrobes, eco-friendly toiletries, and a fully-equipped kitchen with tasteful vintage decor made me feel pampered and right at home. The modern conveniences, including high-speed Wi-Fi and smart TVs, were seamlessly integrated without disrupting the suite's vintage elegance.
Beyond the beauty of the hotel itself, the location was unbeatable. I enjoyed leisurely walks to the pier, visited charming local shops, and dined at wonderful nearby restaurants. The neighborhood felt safe, welcoming, and full of vibrant energy.
The Marlowe's commitment to sustainability and authentic restoration practices added to its allure, making my stay feel even more special and thoughtful.
Without hesitation, I would recommend The Marlowe Boutique Hotel to anyone seeking a luxurious yet intimate experience in Santa Barbara. I’m already planning my return—this place truly captures the heart and soul...
Read moreI struggle writing this review because I want The Marlowe to remain a secret, but it's too good not to share. We recently stayed at The Marlowe in the Library Suite, and had the most amazing experience. We've stayed at many hotels and Airbnbs around Santa Barbara and this one has by far been our favorite!
Every detail in the suite was immaculate. The bookshelves (there are some hidden and fun gems in there if you take a close look ;)) the antique decor throughout, the charm and character, the kitchen, the light and all the windows. So much thought and detail went into The Marlowe and I am one to appreciate every little touch down to the beautiful rugs and light switches.
Debby was easy to communicate with and we had zero issues during our stay. We stayed with our toddler and puppy and had plenty of extra room. The suite is much bigger in person than it looks in the photos. There is the train station across the way, but it ran from 7:30 AM ish - 9:45 maybe 10 at the latest and it was zero issue for us, in fact our toddler loved seeing it every time it came by. There is no AC but there is heating, not an issue being by the ocean with the cool breeze.
They splurged on making this place unique, and you can tell! I hope other guests take us much care as we did because it's so special I don't want it to ever change. We've already booked our next stay at the Marlowe and we will always return here when we visit SB.

Read moreThe location is unbeatable. I took the train from LA and didn’t realize I was going to be able to walk right off the platform and basically straight into The Marlowe! The beach, restaurants, museums, the funk zone, and shopping are all walking distance. I didn’t even need to uber anywhere during my time here. And my stay was so beautiful. The space is so eloquently designed and had everything i needed and more, even down to the bedding and towels. Debby was a magnificent host. She was very attentive and gave me the best recommendations for good food, coffee shops to get work done, & places worth seeing. I’d recommend to everyone. Families, couples, singles, work, or leisure—The marlowe is a staple when i...
