A PLEASANT STAY ! My wife and I hit the road at 1pm on Thursday bound for Santa Barbara. We had booked 3 nights here a few months ago to enjoy a long weekend getaway to celebrate my wife's birthday. In fact we stayed here ( overnight ) once before in Sept, 2020 and it was pretty good. We chose a Casita ( much bigger than a room ) then and a Casita this trip. After a long traffic jammed 3 hour drive we finally arrived here about 4pm. We headed straight to the reception desk after parking our wheels on their private parking lot ( random parking / no pre-paid reserved spots ). WOW ! The same desk clerk as our previous visit....the very helpful Ryan was sitting there to greet us. This trip we didn't bother to bring our eBikes so there was no need to ask Ryan to secure them in their store room overnight ( for safety ). The hotel does offer free cruiser bikes for guests. My wife nailed an upstairs Casita this time...Santa Rosa. A simple fresh cooked breakfast in the hotel dining room is included in the room / casita rates....Ryan gave us 3 coupons for 3 mornings in case we needed them. PROBABLY NOT ! We planned to have breakfast early on Friday at one of our fav places....Jeannine's Restaurant & Bakery in Montecito. With no pre-paid reserved parking spots it can become a bit of a turkey shoot to nail a spot on their private lot. If you don't get one then it's street parking in a very narrow congested street. WE GOT LUCKY ! So we managed to snag one of the only 3 undercover parking spots ( within view of our upstairs casita ) each with destination charging outlets. Our Casita was quite large though not as well organized as the one we had a couple of years ago....very old small flatscreen TV on the wall and a deafening noisy exhaust fan in the bathroom that came on with the only light. The low to the floor toilet was built for very young children....who needs their knees up around their ears while sitting on the loo. A huge spa bath like last time but this one had only half the jets working. A nice vase full of red roses and a greeting card was a thoughtful touch appreciated by my wife. The king size bed was comfortable enough.....I didn't think much of the shower....2 shower heads and only one worked. We had a small separate kitchen room with a quiet working bar fridge, a small microwave, a Keurig coffee machine and a sink. Certain aspects of this Casita need to be upgraded. Because we were worried about losing our treasured parking spot we took Lyfts to a couple of dinner spots....Buena Onda Empanadas nearby and Himalayan Kitchen in State St. TOP DINNER SPOTS ! The air con in our Casita worked well and the gas fireplace was a warming treasure. We had a big day planned on Saturday....renting eBikes for a long bike ride, lunch, dinner etc so we took a punt on breakfast in the hotel dining room. It is fresh prepared and cooked while you wait but don't expect anything more than simple....quiches, small bowl of fruit, orange juice. There is something they call an espresso machine but when I attempted to use it I was told by Skye the desk clerk it was out of order for the moment. Apparently it is very temperamental and Skye informed a few minutes later it was functioning again. NOT REALLY ! It did dispense something that looked like black oil and then when I hit the touch screen for cream.....there was a mini cyclone of powdered milk dumped on top. After whacking a couple of sachets of sugar in and tasting it....I dumped it ! Straight after our very basic brekkie we headed over to Dune Coffee Roasters for sensational morning lattes...BEST COFFEE IN SANTA BARBARA ! We also had 2 delicious lunches at Lilac Patisserie ( gluten free ) in State St. So each evening I enjoyed a couple of ice cold craft beers on our small patio overlooking the parking lot before we headed out to dinner. The excellent Bettina ( wood-fired pizza ) in Montecito is a dining must ! We are not big fans of corporate hotels so even with the small negatives this place is quite satisfactory....
Read morereserved 2 rooms for me and my son’s family. I paid for it all. I had to give them my son’s name for the 2nd room, but it was me that arranged all the details of staying there. I gave them my phone number ONLY.||I called ahead of 1.5 hours to see if our rooms were ready and this person at the front desk said they were so we headed to the Eagle Inn first before something to eat. I went to the front desk to check in and this young man told me it would be a 25.00 charge for early check-in. I was NOT happy for if he had told me this when I called we would have had something to eat before checking first.||Then I was getting texts for my son on my phone asking how his stay was going. I answered back the text saying that whoever a sending these texts are talking to me and to address me for now not my son. Told them that we are family and I will let them know how we all feel about our stay. The person, who I should have asked for his name, answered with a bit of disagreement but then said all is good or something to that nature. So before we left the Inn I approached the desk to the young guy who said he was the one texting me and he was just arrogant with my request to make sure all questions come to me only with the exact words, “I beg to disagree” that they have a right to ask my son. This guy told me that I wouldn’t understand why they did this like I was a 5 years old. It was a no brainer as I told him to communicate with the person, which they NEVER did with me, the one who made and paid for the arrangement for the stay there. Then I asked him why I didn’t get a text message with how my room was, no answer. Blank face. This guy just had no social skills of how to communicate to customers without making them wonder why they even picked this Inn and wanted to argue with me.||The good: my rooms bed was very comfy, room clean, nice big bathroom with all the amenities. But my TV was small.||2nd bathroom: The good: clean, bed comfy, smaller bathroom configuration, super large TV. The bad: The bathroom had a toilet for a 2 year old that was so very very low to the ground. My son is 6’4” and this is unacceptable !! The toilet paper dispenser was rusted out with brown rust on the back of the dispenser for that paper. Looked disgusting.||The breakfast was good with a very small selection tray changed day to day. I was hoping for some waffles or pancakes but that was never on the menu. Oh well, everyone seemed to be satisfied ands it was free. The coffee was delicious. The servers were friendly and efficient.||There was a note slipped into our doors that said the maids could not clean our rooms (because we put out “do not disturb” on he handle) So what? We didn’t want the maids coming in our rooms to clean since we were only there for 2 nights. WE did NOT want anyone in our rooms that is why we put the tab on the outside handle that said, “DO NOT DISTURB”. How can we make it any clearer.||So, with all this said, we will never return again.| |I just got a reply to this review from the owner saying, “Thanks for trying the Eagle Inn for your stay in Santa Barbara. Seems like AI program annoyed you. Sorry about that. Hope that didn’t ruin your enjoyment”||What a pathetic weird way to say sorry. It was the front desk guy that annoyed me NOT AI. Talk to your arrogant front desk guy, get a new tall toilet and stop leaving notes on the clients doors because the client didn’t want maids coming inside their rooms. That’s our choose to say, “DO NOT...
