The Kitchen Door — Local services in Santa Barbara

I’m honestly saddened to have to review a 1 star. I feel like I had great rapport with Bettina and she even provided us with a tasting and the food was amazing; however, on the day of our wedding day, the food was suppose to be delivered and set up at 6:30 and dinner didn’t arrive until 8:30pm. Mind you, this is a WEDDING. People are so hungry and it’s truly embarrassing. The menu was suppose to have Mediterranean rice pilaf and he gave us Mexican rice, which didn’t even make sense with the rest of the menu. Desserts weren’t delivered until 9:45pm and the wedding ended at 10:00pm. Additionally, we had NO WATER. No water for our guest, my coordinators assistant had to run out and buy water and ice. What a genuine disgrace and I’m mortified my guest had to deal with the unprofessional Bettina had. I would have more grace if there was better communication so we could have planned accordingly, but nothing was communicated to my coordinator or myself. I would not recommend.

UPDATE: it’s now been almost a month of Bettina promising she would pay back a lump some in response to her mishap at our wedding and she has been nothing but inconsistent and giving every excuse in the book to not pay us back. Truly sad when you have your one day, your one wedding day and plan for everything in advance to make sure it all goes smoothly and well. Everything went smooth and great! Not the Kitchen Door. No communication and relentless with the excuses for showing up to the venue 2 hours late. When asked what happened and where she was with the food, there was no response. It was a cold shoulder and nothing until 2 hours go by we get a response. There is no water or ice for the beverages. Even her own staff had no clue where she was. Just poor. Poor quality of service and huge lack of accountability. Now has agreed to refund, but has been quite sometime to get a word back from her as to where the refund is or coming and just tells us "sorry and making big changes." We don't need excuses, we need action. For a company that has been in this industry for 15 years, this is the service your provide for a couple looking to celebrate their special day. I contacted several private chefs and caterers in Santa Barbara/Montecito for my event. Betti was quick to respond. The others were not (Welcome to Santa Barbara!). From the moment I spoke with Betti, she new instinctively what I wanted. I'm a bit of a perfectionist and so is she. We created a menu and quote in record time. I contracted her and the event was effortless. She created a schedule for the day of the event and stuck to it. She entered my kitchen and new exactly where everything was, without asking. Her assistant was just as knowledgeable. Clearly they've knocked it out of the park before and will continue to do so. The evening went on without a hitch and my guests were blown away by delicious, freshly-sourced and expertly-prepared food.
