We arrived 1 hour before check in time and we did not expect to be able to get into the room but was shocked when we were told by security that we could not access the pool area or the beach without the wristbands that were in the room that we could not get into yet. We were told no exceptions, no wristaband no admittance. Every other property that we had stayed at before told us to please enjoy the pool or the beach while your room is getting ready. . The unit was till dirty, hair around the toilet in the master bath, and lots of mold on the shower curtain liner in same bathroom. We called guest services about the mold and it was finally addressed 3 days later. Shortly after checking in my daughter got a glass of water out of the fridge water dispenser and gave it to her 9 month old daughter. After drinking a large amount of water we noticed mold in the mold. I then took another glass and got water and more mold came out of the dispenser. I called guest services and in the 7 days that we were there nothing was done to rectify that situation. I called multiple times. The security guards on this property are borderline harassing. Wristbands are checked every time you go on or off the board walk.On one occasion my 9 month old daughter had a massive diaper failure while on the beach. At this point we had spoken to this particular security guard multiple times every day for the past 3 days. O On this trip to the room to change her my daughter had left the wristband at the beach and despite the baby having poop all up her back and onto her neck he made my daughter go all the way back to our beach setup to get her wristband. By the way was off of this particular property because 90 percent of the beach area is taken up by the chair service. On another occasion we were in the pool and I was giving the baby a drink of water from her sippy cup and was informed that i needed to have all food and drinks 4 ft from the edge of the pool. On the last night of our stay we always go out to a nice seafood restaurant as we were walking out the door handle on the front door of our condo would not turn. We had no way to get out. I called guest services and informed them of the situation and the seriousness of the matter. My whole family is in a condo with no safe way to exit and we need this addressed immediately. He said they would have to put in a work order and would call me when they knew an approximate time that someone could be there to fix it. I argued that was not sufficient and he told me, the longer he stayed on the phone the listening to me complain the longer it would take to get the situation taken care of." After waiting 30 minutes and not hearing anything I decided to climb out the small bedroom window in the front and see if security could help and unfortunately he could not. I took a credit card out and was able to jimmy the latch and get the door open. We set out to dinner about an hour later than anticipated. I once again called to get an update and the guy told me that it had only been an hour at this point he still thought we were stuck in the room. About an hour later we got a call saying that a locksmith was coming and would be there within the next hour. From the time I originally called until the time the lock was fixed was almost 3 hours. This whole time they thought we were still stuck in the room. There was zero sense of urgency on their part. I am not sure how the property management group can safely run a property without having people on the grounds where they have guests. It makes no sense to me. As you can see we had multiple issues and the total lack of concern was appalling. We spent a lot of money not just on the condo but travel expenses, boarding pets, vacation expenses etc and the experience with this condo and Southern Vacation rentals made this whole thing a giant waste of hard earned money. If this had been our first time to Navarre Beach I can guarantee that we would not be going back. I will not use this property management...
Read moreSummerwind was amazing when we first started to stay here 13 years ago. Unfortunately it’s not the same place today that it once was. The beach itself (literally the reason we have come year after year) has gotten so crowded you’re basically trying to enjoy it while piled on top of strangers. The guys who rent the chairs and umbrellas take up THE ENTIRE ocean front so you either have to give them money for their chairs (we have our own) or look at peoples backs all day. Another option is spend everyday of your vacation waking at 4:30am to try and beat them to it to set your stuff up before they hog up the entire beach (not much of a vacation in my opinion). It never use to be that way, it’s ridiculous how much beach space they take up. There’s little to no room on the beach if you bring your own chairs, umbrella or tent. Regardless if you bring your own or rent from them though you’re still on top of people all day it’s so crowded. The actual condo itself was ok with everything we needed so there’s no complaints there. It’s dated and not luxurious by any means but also not the worst part of our trip. The big one however and probably the reason we will stop staying here after being a returning costumer for so many years is the same situation others have had with the parking. My family and I went to dinner our last night and upon returning to the condo’s we had windows and sunroof open and I guess our parking pass blew off the dash and onto my center console without us noticing as we were getting out of the truck. We woke up the next morning to begin the task of packing and getting ready to leave only to find a cable lock on my rim. We payed a LOT of money to stay at this place for a week only to get booted in the parking lot on the last day. Had to pay another $270 bucks to get this thing off my truck so we could go home. A paying guest with a parking pass and they insult you with an almost three hundred dollar charge over a piece of paper not being on the dash. As I stated earlier, we have been coming here a long time and this has NEVER happened here before. What an insult to your guest. Don’t expect anyone to help you or hear your case out either, they won’t. There’s no number to call on the ticket and management won’t help you or give you any guidance. They just tell you they’re not responsible for security and say sorry. Please learn from our experience and look elsewhere for your vacation. There’s far too many options along the coast for the hard earned money you spend to come here and have a boot put on your car while piled on top of strangers on the beach all day. This place is NOT a fun and enjoyable vacation destination anymore. Stay elsewhere, you’ll be...
Read moreI have been staying at the Summerwind Resort for 12 years now. The #1 reason, proximity to the beach. The second #1 reason, because of the heated pool. Yes I know, the pool is actually second but I wanted to illustrate how important it is to our families with 10 kids under 13. The pool has always been heated when we arrive the Saturday before Thanksgiving. This year we were told that wasn’t the case but the pool was only heated BY Thanksgiving day. When I asked the HOA person, whom I had not seen before, how long they had been working at Summerwind, I was told since August. 3 months! Yet, she was sure the pool was not heated each year Nov 1st. That is what I remember from when we enquired 12 year ago and started coming to Navarre. The beach is always a bit chilly and my kids really look forward to spending time at the beach and then coming back to the pool to get warm and play with cousins. Sadly, not this year. We will definitely make sure the time table for heating the pool before we make a reservation...
