We were excited to return to Beach House after being away from Navarre for some time. It had been one of our favorites. Tonigh's dinner was quite a surprise to the contrary. The disappointment began when we arrived after making a reservation for dining outside. We were told in a less than courteous way that we had no reservation and that there was no availability outside. We asked if we could be seated and they did accommodate us. As it turned out, the party that had reserved the entire outside area did not arrive while we were there. We were served well by our waitress who was courteous. She was the exception in our experience. We attempted to order standard beers (such as Budweiser) that were not available here but were accessible at the bar across the breezeway. We purchased those beers and returned to the restaurant. We were offered no alternatives other than to purchase proprietary craft beers that we were unfamiliar with, and no assistance with the drinks. There might have been some discussion to assist us in selecting a beer, but that was not offered. I'm very sorry I spent $250 on this negative atmosphere and mediocre food. . At the end, unfortunately, here's where it really tanked our experience. After our table was cleared, I received the check, examined it and gave the server my credit card. To my surprise, the amount of the check had been changed after they ran my credit card. There was a "service charge" added to the amount. I did not approve this change so I changed the amount on the ticket to the original price and added a gratuity for the server. In less than ten minutes after I got the check, and before the server returned to the table to retrieve it, the manager came to our table and asked us to leave so he could turn the table. Even though I was the host and had the check, he went to the other side of the table and addressed my guests. This is a level of rudeness and inexcusable behavior that I nor anyone else in my party has ever experienced in a restaurant before. The message from Beach House Social this evening was loud and clear: we don't want your business. And, after speaking with a man at the stairs outside passing by on the way to another eating place who said he doesn't go to your restaurant anymore and hasn't for some time, we are clearly not alone. I will not return to your restaurant and will encourage others to make a different...
Read moreWanted to take my girl out on a date night dinner, I picked The Beach House on Navarre Beach. Our server was Patricia. Very professional and accommodating.
My girl ordered a glass of Merlot, that they where out of, so she went with a Cabernet that was served at the table via a mini decanter. Very classy touch. I had a Bourbon Old Fashioned. It was among the Top 3 Old Fashioned's I have ever had, and I'm pretty picky about my Old Fashioned's.
For our Starter we choose the Pork Belly and Brussels. The pork belly was cooked to perfection. Melt in your mouth good. The flavor pairing of the Brussel Sprouts with feta cheese and candied walnuts was a stroke of culinary genius. Little heavy on the Micro Green garnish, but that's the current fad for some reason.
For mains, my girl choose the Fish and Chips. The cod was cooked to perfect temp. Flakey and moist. The batter was good. Crispy and airy. I'm more partial to a nice beer batter, but I'm also a cheese head from Wisconsin. The "Chips" or fries...are from a frozen bag. Kinda soggy, but still tasty none the less. My only issue with her plate was the tarter sauce and ketchup. Not only was the tarter sauce extremely lacking and devoid of any flavor what so ever, it was served in plastic containers like we just rolled up to the Shrimp Basket. Stainless Ramikens don't cost that much. And the amount yall charge for a ribeye should cover a few.
I had the Coconut Encrusted Grouper. Came with an Island Pico, Citrus Lime Rice, and a Beurre Blanc. The rice and and sauce where very good. The fish was extremely over done to the point of being burnt. It should have never left the kitchen. If one of my chefs had cooked and served that, they would be busted back to peeling potatoes. It was an embarrassment to the Grouper. I sent it back. Was served a new dish, but by the time it came out, my date was done eatting and it was time to go. And the plate was chipped. That's kinda petty, but attention to detail will get you everywhere. Especially on a refire.
Had good hopes for this establishment, had heard good things. Sadly I was disappointed in the food for the price point paid. The Acoustics make it hard to have a conversation. It seems to be more a spot for tourists than locals. We probably will...
Read moreMy husband and I are local and are done giving this place our business. It has had numerous different chefs and menu changes. Now they’ve renovated the inside. Wish they had spent the money on training their staff. When my husband and I walked in the restaurant was more than half empty. We sat at the bar. There were 4-5 others and it was also half empty with two bartenders working behind it. It was covered in water from glasses. There was also a check paid out so I figured when they picked up their check they would wipe off the bar. Wrong. She picked up the check and offered us a menu. We ordered a Long Island and a glass of rose. The only option was sparkling rose but it was good. My husband used the paper menus to wipe the area in front of us. The bartender still didn’t take the hint. Neither bartender ever wiped the bar down during our entire “experience”. We ordered the berry salad and the 6 oz filet with roasted potatoes and asparagus. We had to ask for waters. She brought the salad out and we had no silver wear or napkins. We had to ask for them. The salad was a decent size and okay. Shortly after they brought out our meal. I question if they had any seasoning or salt and pepper in the kitchen. The filet was very tender but completely flavorless and slightly over cooked. The potato’s and asparagus had no seasoning. No salt or pepper. We were never offered any condiments or salt and pepper. The bartender spent most of our visit speaking with a young man at the end of the bar that wasn’t eating and appeared to be a friend. We had noticed the manager running food and constantly running his hands through his hair that looked greasy and hung in his face. At that point I was just ready to eat and go. I had to wave her down to get our check. For such a fabulous location it’s disappointing they can’t seem to match the service and quality of the food to the prices they are charging. It doesn’t even have a view…..you see the lazy river pool out the windows. I worked in the service industry for 15 years and I know nothing is perfect but this was terrible service. I get when servers and kitchens are busy but that was not the case. We normally tip 25-30% and I was absolutely not doing that for this service. Won’t be back, waste of...
