Beach Colony Condos — Hotel in Santa Rosa Island

Beautiful place to stay and have been going there for the last 4 years in a row. Jan 2015 when my family was there, there was major construction going on, and condo owner did not disclose to us the scope and duration of the project. He took our money, and we ended up having to leave and use his cockroach infested townhouse across the street with furnishings akin to a cheap hotel--didn't even have proper curtains. Not what we paid for. We complained, and in malice falsely accused us of $400.00 worth of damage we did not do. Not Beach Colonies fault, but the owners fault for not disclosing this on his ad, nor communicating this. Jack hammers going every single day. He told us the railings were being replaced is all, and we couldn't use the deck, ha, the whole facility was unusable. Beach Colony should not have allowed any renters during this time, or instructed owners not to rent at all. And, shame on Beach Colony for allowing this type of owner to be a part of their building. He will ruin their reputation. Did not refund a nickel. Unit at Beach Colony had no working smoke detector--changed the battery ourselves at our expense. But visit once the construction is done. We loved it in years past--but watch who you rent from. I would contact the manager, and ask who the great owners are. Your experience is as good as the owner you rent from, because if there are problems, you want an owner who will take your complaints seriously, and not accuse you of fabrication. Construction and painting crew had our balcony windows covered in plastic for 4 days of our stay. They also came in twice and got caught in our girls rooms snooping around. The elevators were down the day we arrived making us totally our luggage up stairs. No linens as states for sofa bed. Took 2 days to get them. Only 1 hand towel in kitchen which was inconvenient. Also had a balcony repair man come fix the top ledge of our balcony that was not adhered at all. Night 3 our ac broke and we were down ac for a few hours and it got to 80 in our condo. Bob was a great host. He was quick to respond and answer all my questions and concerns. The condo is WONDERFUL! The rooms are so spacious and accommodate a family of 5 extremely well! The view of the gulf is incredible! I didn’t want to leave that patio behind. We ate in every meal because we had such a nice kitchen to prepare our own meals in! The cookware was very good!
