I checked in on November 4th early in the morning. At check in the associate confirmed my stay until the morning of the 5th. ||-- At lunch I went out to my car, but was locked out of my room||- I checked at the front desk, they told me I checked in on the 3rd, I said no, I checked in on the 4th. After looking in the system, they confirmed I checked in on the 4th. The lady next to the lady with the colored hair, said this happened before, someone came in early in the morning, and thought they had to leave at 11, but they did not have to, they stayed until the next morning. (Which has been my experience ||- When I got back from my car, I asked if everything was ok, the lady with the colored hair, would not give me her name, stated she charged my card for another day. I said I would deal with that later, asked who the manager was, the lady with the colored hair, pointed to a lady and stated Missy is the General Manager. She said their policy is if you check in before check-in time, you only have until check out time. Missy barely said 10 words and left the conversation to the lady with the colored hair. The lady with the colored hair said several things and snapped at me. ||- I told Missy to let her boss know that I was going to be calling HQs, because when I checked it it was for the day, as I knew I had an all day zoom training.||- I called HQs guest services, who called and spoke with the front desk at the hotel, and then I stated I wanted to take it to a supervisor, because I checked in on the 4th, and if I would have been told I had to check out at 11, I would have gone to a different hotel. ||- I asked HQs who was in charge of this hotel, and was told I needed to ask the front desk, they could not tell me.||- I went out to the front desk to ask who the CEO was, and was told there is no CEO, then I looked at Missy and asked who was above her, at this point the person with the colored hair stated they were not giving me that information, she stated I could either stay or go, I was causing trouble. I said, I was causing trouble because I asked for the CEO.. I asked for her name, she wouldn't give it, I said ok and went to my room.||- I went to take a shower, so I could get back to my zoom training, and before I got out of the shower, I had 2 folks from the Sherriff's office, stating the hotel wanted me to leave. I said ok, and started to pack my things up, told them what happened and that I want a copy of the report.||- I did not get a receipt so I asked the officer if he could grab it and he did.. Someone highlighted check in on the 3rd and check out on the 4th.. I explained to the officer, that is not the date I checked in, and they know it, so that document is wrong. ||||The reason for the bad rating, is because I was told one thing and they did something else, then ran my card, before I approved it, I called to complain to HQs, the lady with the colored hair tells me either stay or go, they are not talking anymore. I went back to my room, and they called the sheriffs office and had them tell me they wanted me to leave. This was within minutes of them telling me stay or go. If they wanted me to go, they could have just said it, and I would have left. Instead, I am not sure what they were trying to do, as there was no point to be made. ||||I could not find the owner, but I will not stay at another Holiday Inn, until I know which Holiday Inns this person owns so I can avoid them. I always have good experiences with Holiday Inn, but not this time, and for management to condone this type of action, is...
Read moreI've stayed here multiple times, I liked this hotel during my previous trips and never had any issues. This time was the one exception, but I felt I should share. The rooms are fine, nothing special. Impressively quiet actually, which is a great plus. Additionally, while the rooms were very clean, the carpet was worn, and things generally seemed dated. Not a huge deal normally, except the mattress was a bit springy and the pillows were all too soft (even the firm ones), preventing a truly restful nights sleep. Again, not a big enough deal for me to complain about by itself, but those things are not what prompted me to write this review.
On my last morning, I was showering as I did each prior morning, with the fan on and the door cracked to prevent mirror fog. This time, for whatever reason, the smoke alarm went off mid shower. I immediately got out and heard the phone ring, had to rush over dripping wet with a towel, front desk asked if I was taking a shower (obviously they know this is a problem) and told me to shut the door and turn the fan on. The fan was already on, and the door was almost completely shut. And no, there was no steam everywhere, nor do I like scalding hot showers. They reset it, and it went off 2 more times over the next 5 minutes, each time asking me if I'm sure I shut the door and turned on the fan like I'm some kind of idiot. (No sign warning of this by the way). The reason for the negative review is that the front desk staff seemed to insist that it was my fault for leaving the door open and not having the fan on. The 2 subsequent alarms went off after the door was completely shut and the fan was left running, they said there still must steam all over my room. There was not.
I've stayed in hundreds of hotel rooms across multiple brands, including this same hotel and have performed pretty much the same shower routine in every single one without issue, so I can only assume the smoke detector is malfunctioning, and they are aware of the problem and have not fixed it.
If you choose to stay here I recommend you try to avoid room 329, until they address this issue. I'm not sure if all the smoke alarms are faulty, but this probably needs...
Read moreTHIS IS A GROSSLY OVER PRICED HOTEL...BY 2X+. Stayed in hotel for the D-Day Ohio at Conneaut in August. Was not notified that the hotel was in midst of major renovation when I made reservations directly with hotel in early July.. SURPRISE...Welcome to the war zone. Hotel should have been closed until completed, or greatly discounted with advance notice of mess. Fortunately, our room wasn't in one of the many storage containers filling the parking lot....although after below experience that might have been welcomed. Then my credit card got hit with the total bill a month in advance. I called to inquire and was told that was due to third party booking. Explained direct booking with hotel, including contact name, and finally got charge reversed. Stayed on third floor which was allegedly complete in its renovation. NOT!!! Every room door looked like it was 20yrs old with scrapes, gouges.. No toilet paper holder in room. Under bathroom sink plumbing out in the open. All plumbing fixture lines had paint/spackling all over them. Fit/finish shabby. Very bottom end hotel appearance. Craftsmanship is very inferior. (I have a lot of construction career experience. Someone should experience a career altering event.) Only 3 floors, but slowest elevator ever. Three nights out of our four night stay, there was a very offensive odor in the hallway seemingly coming from a room close to the elevator.. Guests were pulling their clothing over their mouths in hallway. I complained to the front desk three times.. Instead of addressing the problem, I was asked if I would like to move rooms. NO...you should address the problem maker....not inconvenience the victims.. This is unacceptable!!! Were they going to move the whole third floor??? Staff appearance made me feel like I was at a tattoo convention. Breakfast food offerings were worst of any HI-E I've ever stayed at, no biscuits; burned cinnabuns. So we ate elsewhere. Horrible value, experience. Will attend D-Day Ohio next year in our 45' Class A tag diesel pusher coach. Stay else where....you and your wife will appreciate your...
