I was educated and read all the reviews before booking here and on the Hyatt site/app where they are rated 3.4 hoping they would give me a leg up and I wondered if I'd care about the same stuff as some of the other guest who left negative reviews. I guess I did but was it the price I paid for what I got versus the actual problems? I'm not sure. I would not stay here again but because there are better options locally if I ever came back to the area.
I primarily choose this location for two reasons I wanted Hyatt points and it's proximity to a few tasks we wanted to do. The pool did play a big part too. We don't have expensive taste but were hoping to be a little wowed and impressed but we are pretty normal people overall. He's military and I'm a nurse.
Pros- The pool was unique and was a heated salt water. The drive up entry to the resort was gorgeous at night. It had some fountains which operated and were nice features. The fire pits were operational and well designed. The Valet staff were nice friendly, talkative and gave it the resort vibe (but then you go inside and the front desk not so much). The food was good. I had no real Covid related concerns but I am lax on the topic.
Cons - Whatever your nightly rate is add $100+. They have a $31/night resort fee, $35/destination fee, and a 14% tax (you also pay for parking-we didn't bring a car though). Was this place worth $300-$400/night? Unfortunately, no. If you get an ALL in rate of at or under $215/night you are getting a fair price.
We got up at 0830 on Saturday (this morning) and went straight to the pool. Every single lounge chair was occupied by someone's stuff. I had read reviews this was an issue but this was next level as I got up early for this reason. I wasn't even sure everyone was even a guest there. It's too small for the # of guest and half of it is a kid pool. The pictures make it look much, much nicer but I wasn't disappointed just like it's not bad. So, instead of lounging at the pool right now I'm in my room writing this review! Haha
Cleanliness is a real issue, but it wasn't bad enough I needed a new room but new sheets for sure. A lot of the wood is chipped but other things looked newer, lighting was pretty dark (I think intentionally?), plugs for electronics were non existent, and everything was very inconsistent because some things like the framed mirrors and old wall lamps that dimmed I really liked. Maybe it was poor updating like salvage somethings and replace others. The landline phone had 2 USB ports but they didn't work or you could unplug something behind the dresser. There was a power strip back there but it was so dusty I was like I think not!! Haha. A lamp across the room had 2 plugs.
If you like modern, if don't like the rustic antique feel/smell, poorly done stucco (I mean gaping holes, uneven walls by inches), and mixed matched furniture/designs, this place isn't for you. If that stuff doesn't bother you, you can easily make this work and see character. Like we pretended the closet that had multiple doors and a walk through to the bathroom was a secret passage!
If you are looking for anything with a luxurious feel or amazing amenities, this is absolutely not it. Think Hyatt Place but this is at least a one tier step down.
The view of the golf course was okay but is actually on a busy road. When we looked out the window we seen traffic but we did not hear traffic. The course also has several "brown" spots. We do not golf though- this trip was taken at the end of May.
We kept our AC on 60 all day/night I think the room was around 70-75 degrees. The vent was not clean and discolored. The temp was tolerable with how hot it was outside.
The bathroom was too tight but weird because you had two vanities one with poor lights and a stand alone light up mirror you could plug in. Weird like you can't use the toliet or get in the shower unless the door is completely closed and some how you lose a foot of headspace...

While we enjoyed our time with family, our experience with the hotel’s billing practices left us frustrated and disappointed. From the start, it felt like we were constantly on guard, needing to catch and correct errors that should never have occurred in the first place.
At check-in, we were told a card was needed for incidentals — which is standard — but then informed that the full cost of our stay would also be charged to that card. This was incorrect, as our stay had already been paid for using Amex points. Despite this, the hotel insisted on charging the card “temporarily” while they sorted it out, leaving us feeling uneasy from the outset.
The next morning, we went to the front desk to clear things up. They acknowledged the mistake and confirmed the stay was indeed covered by Amex points. As an apology, we were given a $50 food and beverage credit in addition to the $100 Amex dining credit we were already entitled to. At that point, we hoped the issue was resolved.
However, on the morning of checkout, we received an email stating — once again — that the full cost of the stay would be charged to our card on file. Neither the $100 dining credit nor the $50 goodwill credit had been applied to our bill. We had to go back to the front desk again to dispute the charges. Only then were the corrections finally made: the stay charged to Amex points, the full $150 dining credit applied, and a $600 room charge that would now remain on hold for 4–6 business days.
We left with the strong impression that if we hadn’t been watching everything closely and advocating for ourselves multiple times, we would have been wrongly charged several hundred dollars — and never known the difference. Even though the mistakes were eventually corrected, the entire process felt deliberately misleading. Having to repeatedly correct the hotel’s “errors” made us feel like we were being taken advantage of, and it left a sour taste at the end of an otherwise nice family trip.

Read moreThis is an old property that looks like it was built to be very upscale in the 80s. But for the price per night was not worth it at all.
We stayed 2 nights last weekend on a middle floor overlooking the pool-in-spirit.
It’s easy to get to and there’s a ton of parking. The 101 is right there.
The benefits of a 40yr old property built to be upscale is that the rooms are big! The walls are super thick so your noise level is not dependent on your neighbors. The doors are solid there’s a sink+decent counter inside and outside the bathroom
The downsides are more annoyances than deal breakers, but for the nightly rate+resort fee feel bigger. there are really no plugs near the bed. If you have 2 people and a king bed, one person will need a battery usb charger or a 15ft charging cord to keep the phone near the bedside the bathroom is worn … read dinged bathtubs, paint wear on the trim, and the bathroom door opens into the bathroom so anyone using anything in the bathroom needs to watch their toes as you open the door minor thing (since we didn’t watch) is that the big flat screen tv is about 35” and mounted on a weird piece of furniture and due to the size of the room is very far away from a comfortable viewing position in a king room the tub is metal so on the colder days sucks the hot out of the water quickly - fortunately the hot water is hot so topping up isn’t an issue
The food situation is also a little weird. We only had breakfast. It’s a full sit down affair. There isn’t a coffee bar to grab a latte and bagel or banana, although we we’re told that starting at 10a on Sunday was going to be a brunch in the courtyard. We had already left by then, so am not sure what gaps that fills. the coffee is awful the food was really good and priced where you would expect 20-30 per person plenty of tables and solid seating and the staff were very helpful and personable
We won’t be back, there’s a ton of options in the metro area, and if we wanted to hit this nightly price again I’d prefer to try another...
