For the distance, simplicity, attractiveness, no steep hills, places to stop or start, fairly quiet, things you might do along the way, safe, relatively straight, cement, clean. If above is appealing 5 stars. The negatives are many but usually not of much consequence. The rough is used by some serious cyclists traveling at high speed, children weaving from side to side, people walking 5 abreast, riders with high decibel boom boxes, sometimes ducks crossing streets and cement paths, visitors permitting dogs to deficate and not pick up. You can be walking all the way to the right and be startled by serious riders passing inches away from you, same situation but needlessly startling you with, on your left, skate boards with and without motors, scooters, other motorized traveling devices. All you need to know is there are better times to go and that sections are going to be congested. Read moreI can’t say enough good things about this multi-use infrastructure. I’ve commuted to work by bicycle in every city and town I’ve ever lived in, including a small quiet island in Florida... and this is still the best bike commute I’ve ever had. All the rolling hills and golf courses, fountains and gorgeous landscaping... grassy knolls and shady trees for a picnic... and plenty of adorable dogs on walks with their poop-conscientious humans... diligently picking up after them... makes this path easily one of the best kept secrets of Scottsdale. Investments like this are what make cities great. It’s easy to see how they got the Gold level achievement for the rankings of “Bicycle friendly communities.” I moved here for a great job, but features like this are what make life here complete. Thank you to anyone and everyone who made this possible for newcomers like me to enjoy....

This path can take you from Tempe Town Lakes near ASU to Shea Blvd in Scottsdale, about 12 miles. The path runs through and along parks and golf courses with underground tunnels and bridges at many, but not all, intersections. The path can get congested in the McCormick Park area at times, as you will share the path with walkers and joggers, which you may want to consider. Eldorado Park is also quite busy on holiday...
