We chose this hotel based on very good reviews and were very pleased overall. The pricing was competitive compared to a national chain hotel nearby and yet this hotel is smaller and much closer to the beach (although no rooms have real ocean views since hotel is not high enough to see over houses).
We arrived mid-evening, parked in the free covered parking area and were greeted by a friendly front desk clerk for our three night stay. We were pleasantly surprised to learn we’d received a free upgrade to a suite- Room 323 with a small kitchenette (sink, toaster oven, microwave, mini fridge/freezer, lots of counter space and bar top with barstools to eat at), living room area with pull out couch and TV, kind size bed in separate bedroom with its own TV, and a huge bathroom with shower and separate whirlpool bathtub plus private toilet area. It also had a wraparound balcony with outdoor seating. It is on the street side of hotel, but I found noise was minimal, even in a Friday night. Our only disappointment was that when my 10-year old son tried the tub that night, brown junk came out of the jets and water leaked from the outside onto the bathroom floor- maybe a leak in the jet water pipes? But he just showered instead, and it wasn’t a huge deal. I know from people who have owned homes with whirlpool tub that they tend to have all sorts of issues. Since we had not even planned on having a tub like that, I really did not feel it affected our overall experience at all.
The rooms and bathroom were clean, the bed was very comfortable, and the amenities like the toiletries were very nice.
The free breakfast was even better than what I have had at major chains. Each morning had some kind of egg dish (scrambled, omelette style, etc.), a meat (sausage or Canadian bacon) and potatoes. Plus a waffle maker, oatmeal, cereals, muffins, toast, bagels, frozen breakfast burritos that you could heat in the microwave, fruit, yogurt, juice and coffee, etc. An extra that really impressed me was that there were both gluten-free and dairy free choices like Udi’s gluten-free muffins, two types of gluten-free cereal (Cheerios and Rice Chex), soy milk and almond milk. The breakfast room is small but very clean with a friendly and attentive hostess.
On the second morning, I discovered that the lightbulbs on either side of the bathroom sink or burned out and called the front desk. By the time we came back from breakfast, it had been taken care of.
On our last morning, my son wanted to hit the beach once more before leaving, but I needed a place to let him shower afterwards, so I called to request a late check out beyond standard 11 time. They were very nice, offering 1130 for free, noon for $20, and 1 o’clock for $40. Well worth it to me - we took the 1pm check out and also made use of the very nice heated pool and hot tub again. Note that the pool is outdoors in the sense that, while it’s tucked in the center of the hotel, it’s uncovered from inclement weather.
The hotel is a couple minute drive or about a five minute walk to the beach and Seal Beach pier, as well as numerous restaurants on Main street. It’s also not far lots of other dining choices. Good value, great location, excellent experience. We would return again for sure and...
Read moreI wanted to surprise my family with a long weekend trip to California for my husband's birthday. We are from Vegas and I didnt' want to drive in the LA traffic with 4 kids in tow so I searched and searched for a place to stay that would be close to the airport and the beach and be a decent price. I was so excited to find the Pacific Inn! It was only a 15 minute ride away from Long Beach Airport and only a few blocks from Seal Beach! And their price per night was WAY better than most every other hotel/airbnb I looked at. (I even had to book 2 rooms for my family of 6 and it was cheaper per night) The best part was how convenient they were! They have a complimentary shuttle that can pick you up from the airport (LGB) and take you wherever you want within 5 mile radius. Unfortunately it wasn't available to pick us up from the airport at the time we flew in, so we Uber/Lyft instead and it was only about $20. So call ahead when and book the Shuttle when you know your travel plans. We used the shuttle to take us to the Aquarium of the Pacific and a Whale watching tour in Long Beach.
The other super convenient thing about the Pacific Inn was that they have all the beach gear you need to borrow! This was huge as I was debating on driving there so we could bring all our beach chairs, umbrella, boogie boards etc. But they had all of that! Beach chairs, umbrella, boogie boards (although they aren't the best- we ended up renting quality bodyboards from a nearby shop), even sand toys for the kiddos! So awesome- all the conveniences of an airbnb but alot cheaper. I will say, the beach was a few blocks away so my kids got alittle tired when we had to walk there. Not bad for adults though. Once again- book that shuttle early!
Meals- complimentary breakfast- AWESOME. Omelets, potatoes, cereal, breads/muffins, and the YUMMIEST hot off the iron waffles! Omg those were my favorite! I need one of those machines! haha. My kids were always excited to go to breakfast! (and it saved me a ton of money). For lunch and dinner- Restaurants galore right outside your doorstep- super easy to walk with the family to get meals. OH and my kids also loved the free hot chocolate machine in the lobby- we had our fair share of those.
The other thing I liked about this hotel is that it is located in the cutest town! I felt extremely safe there and it was so cute to look at all the unique little houses with their beautiful front lawns. Main street is super cute too- lots of cute shops and restaurants. I wish i could have checked out more of them!
OH the other thing I want to say is that the staff at The Pacific Inn were super friendly and helpful! They allowed us (and another group of guests i noticed) to check in early with no hassle. Pretty much, as long as your room is ready/cleaned, they didn't have an issue checking you in early. This was great as we had all our bags in tow from our flight so we could drop them off before exploring the town. They always offered you waters for your beach trip or whatever.
HIGHLY suggest The Pacific Inn for your next stay. Its even close to Disneyland so we'll probably stay here again when we take our kids...
Read moreWe had a really scary situation occur and I want to give mention to the staff at The Pacific Inn and how they handled it. We had gone down for breakfast and my husband has a serious genetic heart condition. He told me suddenly he didn't feel well and started to profusely sweat, get light headed and shakey. He was incredibly pale and we looked at his Dexcom (measures blood sugar) and his sugars were dropping fast. We started trying to get them back up but he dropped down to 44 and, for the first time ever (I am a nurse), I started to feel panicked. The girl working in the breakfast area (Griselda) helped get us some water and other things; incredibly helpful, especially given the area was closing down. We had to stay over an hour past closing time! Then, the first desk helped us and Maddie was wonderful. I told her I think we are going to need to call "911" and she stayed calm and helpful. Very slowly my husband's sugar started to go up. She even ran and bought him some candy bars because he said he liked chocolate! Lol.
I have never been this worried before and the staff was amazing. Even the maintenance man offered to help assist him back to his room. My husband is 6'2 and 250 pounds - not exactly someone you want falling. 😂 Finally, we got him feeling a little better and backed up his room - he immediately crashed out sleeping. They allowed us to stay past check out time and said there was no rush and also gave us a ride to Long Beach for our anniversary cruise we were going on!
This is an older establishment but well maintained, no trash even outside doors, and feels safe. They had a welcoming environment, clean pool area (beautiful hot tub and it worked!) and did not smell smoke/marijuana anywhere. Bed was comfortable, plenty of pillows and clean bedding. There are also rooms with balconies and a small sitting area, accommodating for those that need a longer stay. There is a Taco Bell and Pizza Hut right across the street.
I just wanted to thank the staff, especially Griselda, Maddie (her boss too for letting us borrow her for 1.5 hours!) and everyone there for being so kind and supportive.
People will forget what you said, but never how they make you feel.
