The Abbey Seal Beach — Restaurant in Seal Beach

Our first visit here was a Friday night date night for dinner. I woulda thought this place would be slammed for dinner at 6 p.m. We were very fortunate and found a table immediately.

Of course we had the Asian nachos with chicken. Washed down with a Hoegarden on tap. My Petite Red Headed Passion Flower split the Chicken Caprese sandwich with sweet tater fries.

Service was very timely, our server was on top of it. Not overbearing. The host was engaging and and had some suggestions for our future visit. Food was delicious and our request to split the sandwich was rewarded with two plates with generous servings. We probably could have made a meal out of the Asian Nachos. I enjoyed picking through the selection of draft beers (although I am scratching my head over the IPA rage thing plaguing selections all over the planet) I can't wait to go back to try the wood fired pizza that has beer in the dough. The fish and chips look awesome too!

Cute little local place. Seemed like a lot of people knew each other. Tight quarters. Hard to have a conversation.

Waitress said it was her first night there. We couldn't tell. Knew the menu. Very knowledgeable.

Ordered clam chowder, pot roast, and chicken pesto pasta. The clam chowder came with bacon on. We told the waitress later that you should probably tell people it comes that way. Some people don't put bacon on everything. In fact, we warned the couple that sat next to us that it came that way, and they ordered it without the bacon.

Hubby raved about the pot, roast, mashed potatoes, and vegetables. He even told owner later that the vegetables were cooked perfectly. The chicken pasta could've used some more sauce and vegetables.

Overall, it was a nice dinner and will come back. Probably on an off time so it hopefully won't...

Don’t you love it when you try someplace you’ve never been and you love it! That was our experience we had a child who loved his pizza and 3 adults who found it hard to make a choice but ended up so satisfied with their meal and want to come back again. The service was awesome, attentive and fun, the atmosphere was laid back and peaceful even with tv’s turned on to Dodgers baseball and football games and the food was fresh, well prepared and delicious. We felt prices were very reasonable and being able to order half plates kept us from feeling stuffed when we left. I will certainly be back next time I’m in town and I’m certain my family who lives here will be back many times. Thanks for a great meal...
