This hotel is new so everything looks nice but it has a fatal flaw. More on that later. ||||The hotel is clean, the rooms are spacious, the beds are fine, and the enhanced Wi-Fi is okay. The wood construction of the hotel means you will hear every step of the guests staying above you. Take this seriously if you are a light sleeper and ask to be on the 4th floor. It sounded like a herd of elephants were above us. ||||The breakfast is very weak compared to other Fairfield Inns. The selection of items is slim. It feels like they are trying to run this hotel on the cheap. Even the selection at their little “Corner Market” is very sparse compared to other Fairfield Inns. ||||The fatal flaw of this hotel is the staff who are in serious need of training and a shift in mindset. Most of the time the front desk is left empty. There is usually a sign that says they are tending to something else on the property. You will undoubtedly have to wait no matter when you show up there. If you call the front desk the phone will ring and ring and ring. We were never able to get the front desk to answer a call. We had to go down to the desk and wait for someone to show up. Very frustrating!||||Housekeeping knocked on the door every day despite the fact that we had a do not disturb sign out. They said they just wanted to know if we were in the room and when we were leaving. Weird. They said they had to check off the room on a clipboard they were carrying. Their convenience trumped our do not disturb sign. ||||At the bottom of the fire escape/stairwell, the exit door is propped open 24/7 with an old piece of tile leaving the entire hotel vulnerable to someone walking in from the side parking lot. It looks like someone props the door open so they can go smoke and get back in easily. The exit door has a key reader, but it is apparently disabled and the door says “exit only” which is why the stairwell door is likely propped open. Why don’t they just keep the door locked but require a guest key to enter like every other Fairfield Inn?||||We never saw the manager and we have stayed there multiple times for multiple days. ||||The staff park their cars right in front of the hotel under the port cochere. Not only does this discourage people from unloading in the most convenient place, it indicates how little the staff think of their guests. It is also indicative of the overall lack of sophistication in the management of this hotel. Apparently, they can't seem to figure out that the guests deserve to use the space and not the employees. Again, their convenience trumps guest convenience. ||||This hotel is under staffed and they just do not know how to provide basic customer service. I’m confident that if a Marriott executive stayed here for 3 days to test the experience they would quickly realize how bad it is and pull the franchise license. When the newness wears off the physical attributes of this hotel, it will not be worth the money to stay...
Read moreIt wasn't awful, just nitpicky stuff that for almost $150 should have been better! The room was SO hot when we walked in, it took hours to cool it off. The bathroom door did not shut all the way, it wouldn't latch so you couldn't lock it.
The walls are PAPER THIN! We could hear the room next to us brushing their teeth and gargling! The chair in the room was covered in crumbs and the sides of cushion/seat were full with debris and crumbs. The table felt like it was about to fall apart, everytime you touched it it would sway back and forth and knock into the wall. The shower had very low water pressure so getting your hair rinsed was a job. The bed was comfortable though, not too hard and wasn't like climbing a mountain to get in.
The breakfast....while I understand it's free was definitely not what we were used to when traveling. The muffins were cold like refrigerator cold, (prepackaged) they had little egg quiche or something. Well unfortunately there were 2 options and I grabbed a jalapeño one bc eating spinach hurts my stomach (the second option) they were switched. So i actually had a spinach and cheese instead of jalapeño and cheese. The bananas were brown, and the juice seemed very watered down. 3 other people came looked at all the breakfast put the plate back and left. There was also a waffle maker and a turkey sausage egg and cheese prepackaged biscuit along with bagels and 3 cereal options. I just was not impressed.
Also when we checked in it was like we were bothering the front desk that we were there. Again for the price it just wasn't as good as a competitor we...
Read moreThis is very nice hotel, but the front desk and general managers have absolutely no customer service skills. They were very busy I understand, breakfast was a disaster people waiting around for things to be refilled, I told the front desk I had waited over 40 minutes for things to be refilled. So she did go tell the lady, but shortly after the worker started closing breakfast. Several people were upset, I left went back to my room and called told the same lady at front desk I believe her name was Jennifer. She proceeded to tell me breakfast was free, not guaranteed and told me to quit being a Karen and hung up on me. I was not being rude at all, I started to head down to talk with her in person. I decided better to just call from my cell phone and ask for a manager, she stated no manager on premises and didnt know how to get a hold of one. Again, I know she was was stressed because she told me alot of people were complaining, but customer service is having the ability to deal with people good and bad. I called Corporate they said had received other complaints that day as well. Corporate filed a complaint requested a refund, this hotel gm refused it. Thats fine, but so sad because this is a beautiful property, but horrible customer service and the behavior of employees is unexceptable. As long as you have no problems, your stay maybe great. I am just writing this review because I wanted to give them a chance to make it right. I hope the owners take action, so this hotel can really be a great...
