Econo Lodge Shelbyville North — Hotel in Shelbyville

Of all the Econolodges that I have stayed at, this one was the best. There were granite countertops in the bathroom, nightstands, and dresser tops. The lobby was updated and clean, and the rooms were clean also. We stayed in a room with three queen beds, as we have a family of five. This was a unique situation for us as I usually get a room that is a suite with two queens, and a pull out couch. I believe, but I am not sure, that we were in the only room that had three queen beds. The third queen was actually in sort of a little alcove, set apart from the other two. it was very nice not to have to fool with a pull out couch and I appreciated that fact more than the hotel will know. Breakfast was varied and good. ||My only complaint is that we stayed two nights and our room was not made up after our first night. We had arrived at 11:30 PM and were sleeping in the next morning. Housekeeping knocked on the door at 8 AM and before I could even get up and out of the bed, they had opened the door and promptly apologized. I told them we would be out in a couple hours. (Sub note: I spent three summers in high school working as a housekeeper in a resort. Our policy was to always clean the checkouts first and then the stay overs. I mean, who knocks on a stayover door at 8 o’clock in the morning? ). When we got back to the hotel late that first full day, I was a little disappointed that our room had not cleaned. I chose not to complain because it was like 11 PM and what can you do at that point? Maybe it had been a really busy day for the housekeepers? Besides, I just asked for clean towels at the front desk and left it at that. That wasn’t that big of a deal, but I thought I would...

Well when we first arrived we noticed they were under construction. Lost of noise heard from the outside. When we went to check in the guy said we got the best rate he could give which was 69.99 per night he told us he was going to up grade my parents to a better room. He put us on the second floor next to the construction. We got to the first room walked in and the smell of paint was so overwhelming, we touched the walls which were still wet. When I told the manager he told me to open a window. The windows were so dirty from the construction and you could tell they didn't clean after they were done. The new beds were very nice, but if you are redoing a room you shouldn't use blankets with holes in it. The second room seemed ok at first then they turned on their new tv's and we had lines threw the screen. We let the manager know about the tv he said we could deal with it or move rooms so my parents moved rooms and got down graded to a room that wasn't finished, my parents were up set and asked for a discount because this wasn't the room they booked the manager declined. They had no coffee and if you wanted their "free" breakfast it was only served from 6-8 am, well we were from a different time zone this didn't work for us thankfully there was a McDonald's across the street that served breakfast until 11. The house cleaner was very rude and while she was cleaning rooms she made sure she was very loud and unfriendly to anyone who walked near her cart. I'm giving this place two stars because the mattresses were very nice and location was ideal from the Casino in Shelbyville and a major town...

So stayed at the Econo lodge to be able to use their pool. The pool was great but that was it. There was dried urine on the toilet seat. Soap scum/residue on the bath tub (which was pink and the soap provided was blue). The tub was peeling and had black residue at the bottom. I will FOREVER kick myself for not taking pictures. The breakfast was cold. The room smelled stale etc. within 20 min of me leaving the facility after check out I was charged 250$ for smoking in the room. The room was NEVER smoked in not once. My mom froze all night going outside which I’m sure if they looked at the cameras that it’s posted they have they’d see that. || The receptionist said several things when I called: ||1.) they catch people smoking once or twice a week. Which is my problem bc now you’re blaming me for the smell? ||2.) he said he smelled cigarette as well. Sure you did. ||3.) there was nothing he could do about the charge but if I brought 250$ in cash he could stop it. Hmmm. 4.) ALSO HE SAID THE ROOM WAS SMOKED IN BEFORE HE EVER ASKED MY NAME OR ROOM NUMBER. ||I WAS NOT expecting the ritz but I truly think this is a scam and would NEVER suggest anyone go there. || I have contacted the better business bureau already. I’ve attempted contacting the website I made the reservation through. And was told the manager would be in Friday for me to speak to bc he is in “meetings”. If the room has been smoked in I’d bite it but It wasn’t and I hope they’re all proud of themselves I truly do. I want my money back for sure bc I think this is a...
