This is my fourth stay at the Lantern Inn and most likely my last. Due to the fact of poor management and lack of respect. I called 4 hours ahead on a 15 hour road trip to make sure there was availability.
The lady I spoke to was professional polite and nice to chat with, explained there were alot of rooms available that I had nothing to worry about.
We arrived to see a gentleman sleeping in the main office shocked to see us mumbled that the INN was closed for check in and wouldn’t reopen until 3pm.
We explained the phone call from 3 hours prior and then he was ok with it and agreed to give us a room. The first room he gave us was occupied by cockroaches that had taken a nap in the unkept bed and were barely alive in the tissues on the bathroom counter. (See pictures attached)
After finding all of that, he gave us another room which looked clean. Not knowing that our bare feet would be completely black from walking around in the room the first night. I guess that happens when you’ve driven 15 hours. I tried communicating with management regarding these issues and was told they would contact us in the morning.
Management called me in the morning and mentioned all of their calls are recorded and would review my initial call to the Inn. After wards he played me a recording of me inside of their check in office without my permission. (No signs saying AUDIO recording anywhere)
The reason why management wanted to review the phone calls which he didn’t even do anyways. Was to see if his inventory systems were accurate or not regarding availability. After the fact he said that his systems don’t keep that information. So he contradicted himself!
I never once asked for a full refund, they did offered a $25 credit. All I wanted was a clean room and to be treated with respect from the “owner” who had called. All I can say is I won’t be staying here ever again. BEWARE!!!!...

Nestled in the heart of Sarasota, my week-long stay at Lantern Inn was an absolute delight. From the moment I stepped through the doors, I was greeted with warmth and hospitality that surpassed all expectations. First and foremost, I must commend the exceptional service provided by the manager, Jim. His dedication to ensuring a comfortable and enjoyable stay for all guests truly sets Lantern Inn apart. Every request was met with a smile, and his genuine care for the well-being of guests was evident throughout my stay. Furthermore, I was thoroughly impressed by the professionalism and courtesy exhibited by the entire staff. From the front desk to the cleaning crew, everyone went above and beyond to make my stay memorable. The highlight of my experience was undoubtedly the amazing heated pool. Perfectly maintained and a blissful retreat after a day of exploring Sarasota, it truly added an extra layer of relaxation to my vacation.
As for the accommodations, the rooms at Lantern Inn are on par with those of a big-brand hotel. Spacious, impeccably clean, and equipped with all the necessary amenities, they provided a level of comfort that made me feel right at home. Plus there’s a laundry room and ample amount of parking on the premises.
Excitingly, I learned from Jim that Lantern Inn is undergoing a transformation into a resort, making it an ideal time to experience all that this hidden gem has to offer. I wholeheartedly recommend Lantern Inn to anyone visiting Sarasota and eagerly anticipate my next visit to this wonderful...
Read moreI have to say I'm some what of a critic, I've stayed in many hotels on this strip for the location. My parents and other family live by so me being from out of state I'm in the area quite a bit. I'm going to start with jimmy, the owner he went out of his way to not only accommodate me, my husband and service dog but made sure there where rooms for my family from across the state. Every single person we came across where so sweet and helpful. The house keepers not only kept our room immaculate but they went out of there way to accommodate our time schedule, they even left extra large towels for a dog bed. Chris, at the front desk made my whole family feel comfortable, we had a family bbq on the grounds and he didnt have to but he went WAY above what you would think an employee would do. Shelley, Linda, Lindsay and Michelle. These girls made our stay. I think his name is Justin (cornbread) from maintenance, not only checked in on us to empty the dehumidifier but offered to take the dog or escort me late at night to take the dog out. Those are just a few of the names of the dedicated staff that went out of there way to make sure we had a great stay. The pool is clean and the tiki bar is a plus. A few of the regulars like Toni and suzi are just sweethearts that added to our experience. I will definitely be...
