We had a highly enjoyable stay at this Hampton Inn location||I need to begin this review with high praise and a sigh of relief for a system that has been nothing but faulty for the Hilton brand. The thing I am speaking of is Digital Key access. ||For more than two years now I have stayed at multiple Hampton Inn locations -- including New York City -- which promised hassle-free Digital Key access that allows you to pick your room in advance, skip front desk check-in, and go straight to your room where the Hilton app on your phone acts as your key.||In short, this marvel of technology never worked at any of the Hotels I stayed in within the NYC metro area. Though I was able to select my room in advance, the moment I got to the hotel I got a message I needed to check in at the front desk and obtain a room key. It was a frustrating experience and one of the clerks at the NYC location blamed it on credit card issues but I later learned that the system has not been consistently working and plagued with tech failures for quite some time.||So, it was refreshing to arrive at the Sayre location, glance at my iPhone app, and find that the digital key was working. I walked into the hotel, went straight to my fourth-floor room, brought my phone close to the door and tapped the screen to unlock it. I was not only amazed but happy that my overall frustrations with the program had finally come to a close. This technology works!||I am a huge fan of Hampton Inns at giving the best value for the dollar which includes a free hot breakfast. Of course, some locations are a little bit more memorable than others.||I would place the Sayre Hampton Inn as one of the better locations we have stayed at. Our top floor King corner room was immaculate, spacious, clean, and comfortable. It had a microwave, refrigerator, coffee maker and a relaxing plush sitting chair. Any Hampton Inn that offers a waffle maker complete with whipped cream and decadent toppings gets high marks in my book. There were hot scrambled eggs (that weren't that great as they were not fresh eggs), pancakes, sausage patties, yogurt, fruit, muffins, cereal, and coffee to start your day off with. There were also complimentary newspapers. This doesn't seem to be a popular location so breakfast never was noisy or overcrowded. ||The front desk staff was very nice, particularly Sue who always had a smile and said hello. Read moreWe unexpectedly had to find a place to stay after taking longer than expected to move our son back to a school in Ithaca, NY. We were going to head to an amusement park campground 3 hours south after dropping him off, but wouldn't be able to check in because the check in services would be closed by the time we got there. After comparing prices on Google, we decided to head south an hour to save 40% on a hotel room. (Prices were high in Ithaca due college move-in demand). We called Hampton Inn Sayre, and were connected right to the front desk (not some national call center) and were cheerfully informed that there was availability, and yes, our dog is welcome! Even though it was late at night by the time we got there, the front desk knew who we were, checked us in, and even offered bottles of water and snacks. The room was scrupulously clean, perfect for our needs (our daughter got a pull out couch to herself and we got a king bed). Next morning we went down for a full array of hot and cold breakfast items (the waffle machine was acting wonky that day, so we weren't able to get waffles but they had both blueberry AND vanilla malt waffle batter - may need to make a return trip). Even though the dog couldn't go in the dining area, hubby held her while I made a plate to bring back up to the room with the dog. The maple smoked sausages were delicious!! Sue at the front desk was so helpful - she was super nice to our dog, and was immediately on it when I asked about a late check out. I could tell she was fully aware of everything going on around her, yet took the time to chat and make us feel welcome. GREAT place. Highly recommended - service and accommodations...
