*I would give zero stars if allowed *
We stayed in this hotel August 4th-5th 2024
At 330am I woke up to use the restroom and when I turned on the lights I was in utter shock. ROACHES were on EVERY wall and also crawling over the floor of the restroom.
I had my carry on suitcase open on the dresser all night along with my purse . I noticed roaches were crawling out around my suitcase and also on my purse .
I left the room in full distress and went to the front desk dressed in nothing but my night clothes . The front desk rep was extremely rude and admitted to the hotel having a pest issue but could not confirm if room 228 had a pest issue reported . I offered to show him videos and pictures I took however , he declined to look.
I stood outside in the dark with my teenaged daughter emptying all of our belongings out our suitcases we brought . While pulling my clothing out I could see ROACHES in my suitcase . I then made the decision that I would not be taking anything , outside of my clothing , and the rest would have to be discarded.
While in distress not believing what was happening a young lady arrived at the hotel. I mentioned to her what was going on. She advised she works for Marriot ( another location ) . She went inside to talk to the front desk staff hoping to get thru to him for some type of assistance . Not only was her rude to me he was also Rude to her . The sweet young lady gave me the number to corporate and advised me to make a claim (thank goodness for her ). She also helped me put my clothing into garbage bags and advised me to take photos of everything I had to throw away so that I could file a claim.
Fast forward to this week I reached out to the manager Jonathan Beard several times this week. Which most calls and voicemails went unanswered . He mentioned to me pest control would have to come out to exam the room . Jonathan called me today 8.7.2024 stating pest control checked room 228 and four other rooms and there was no signs of an infestation.
I advised him to have pest control come at 3am so that the could see the roaches active . I also advised , had it only been 1 roach that yes, no infestation would be detected . However, there was at least 10 ROACHES in the bath room alone (I wish I was being over dramatic) .
I asked him for his cellphone number (company phone if he has one which he declined) so that I could send him videos and photos from the room since no one has asked me for this proof. Jonathan words were “ I am in a relationship and my girlfriend would not approve of that”
EXCUSE ME!!!
This is related to a property that he manages that has an infestation that his employees and also he mentioned they are aware of but yet refuse to reimburse me for my property that I lost and had to throw away .
Ohhhh, let me not forget to add ….. He was so kind enough to offer a refund for the one night ,although his manager told him he doesn’t have to 🙄 cause that’s the least he can do .
I disconnected the call with him and have a claim with corporate .
DO NOT STAY AT THIS PROPERTY UNLESS YOU WANT ROACHES ON YOUR ITEMS !!!
I made Jonathan aware that I will be leaving this review .
Again . Do not stay at the property and stay far away...
Read moreLet me start off by saying, I know this wasn’t a 5 star hotel. However, we expected a certain level of standard and service given that it was a Marriott!
When we checked in, we weren’t told that housekeeping would be every other day. We left for the day on our 2nd day and came back to find that our room wasn’t made up and we had no fresh towels. So I called the front desk and was informed about the every other day cleaning. I was surprised and asked why we weren’t informed during check-in. The receptionist offered no explanation. I then asked for fresh towels and was told there weren’t any and that she would have to look for some. I asked her to let me know when she found them and to have them brought up to our room. She said she couldn’t as there was no staff in the hotel who could bring them up and she couldn’t leave the desk. Again, I was stunned! In the entire hotel, there wasn’t one staff member who could deliver towels to our room! I mentioned I was traveling with a newborn and couldn’t come down. She just apologized and said she couldn’t leave. I asked her to let me know when she “found” towels. I never got a call back. I went down later to get them, but there was a different person at the desk and they had to leave to go search for towels. After 5+ hours of waiting, we finally got extra towels.
Upon checkout, we asked to speak to the manager (Jonathan Beard). We were told he couldn’t see us because he was in a meeting with another manager. We eventually spoke to the assistant manager (Joanna) and explained our towel issue, including the cleanliness of our room (see pics). She said she would let Jonathan know and he will follow up with us. It has been a week and we have not heard from anyone at the hotel. We just received a generic response from Jonathan to our Expedia review, which didn’t address our concerns or offer a resolution to our sub-par stay!
As for the state of the room, we found tiny body hairs (don’t want to know from where!) all over the bed, toilet, and night stands, there was ample dust in the cubby holes where the towels, no napkins in the dispenser - just to name a few!
I suggest you spend a few extra dollars and pick...
Read moreNightmare Stay: Courtyard Marriott Southfield’s Unacceptable Renovation Chaos My recent two-night booking at the Courtyard Marriott Southfield turned into an absolute nightmare, deserving a zero-star rating and a strong warning to future guests. What was supposed to be a comfortable stay quickly became an infuriating encounter with a hotel that was clearly unfit for occupancy, let alone charging for its dilapidated state.
Upon arrival, my wife and I were confronted with a scene of utter chaos. The entire floor we were assigned to was an active construction zone, resembling a demolition site rather than a hotel hallway. Exposed ceilings, debris scattered everywhere, and doors propped haphazardly against walls created a hazardous obstacle course. The attached photographs, which I will include, only begin to convey the shocking disarray. It is appalling that guests were expected to navigate such an environment.
Adding insult to injury, as we struggled with our luggage through this debris-filled corridor, a bandsaw was actively in use in the hallway. The noise, the dust, and the blatant disregard for guest safety were incomprehensible. To be placed in a situation where basic comfort and safety are so flagrantly ignored represents a profound failure of hotel management and hospitality standards.
Expedia, through whom I booked, initially hesitated to refund us, even with photographic evidence of the deplorable conditions. Thankfully, the staff at a different Courtyard Marriott location in Southville showed genuine professionalism and empathy, helping us secure alternative reservations. Their assistance was the sole positive aspect of this ordeal, highlighting what true hospitality should be. The Courtyard Marriott Southfield, in its current state of renovation, is not a functional hotel and should not be accepting reservations on affected floors. I urge anyone considering a stay to exercise extreme caution and verify the hotel’s operational status. Steer clear until these renovations are complete and a safe, welcoming environment can be guaranteed. This was a zero-star experience, a stark reminder that a hotel’s commitment to its guests must extend beyond merely...
