Unfortunately, I was extremely uncomfortable and disappointed. I stayed at Sonesta Southfield from March to May of 2022 and I couldn’t stop bragging about the hotel. This time around I needed 7 nights. On night 1, I couldn’t sleep because the room (219) smelled like someone was smoking cigarettes right in my face. The tub and toilet was dirty and the chair was broken. I had my toddler with me and I asked to switch rooms. I was given the option between 223 and 225. They were both ridiculously nasty. I chose the lesser of the two and I had no pillow cases or shower curtain. The front desk had a metal gate pulled over it at 7p and when I called for assistance, the clerk working was staying in the room next to me (221). He promised me a shower curtain and never got back. He talked about his training with the Army and how tired he was. The smell of each room was really bad, the hallway and stair floors were filthy. Only 1 washer worked and it held someone’s clothes all day. Children roamed the hallways playing, cigarette butts were everywhere, dog poop was everywhere. Every single door was propped open with a rock, allowing for anyone to come and go. This place has drastically changed for the worse. The younger staff members had their friends up there, rushing requests and more interested in what’s in their phone than helping. I was so upset to had spent an upwards of $600 for such a horrible stay. I slept on top of the covers and had to cover the bathroom floor with towels when showering because I had no curtain. The one female supervisor was really nice but that was the only good thing about my stay. The Warren/Sterling Heights location is so much cleaner and nicer. I hate to leave this review but I was so uncomfortable and really offended at the lack of cleanliness and care. A hotel that once had an open vending process now has locked machines, a place that once had a cabinet full of extra things to borrow if needed is now empty, all machines once worked and now only one works and there are no out of order signs on any of them, you have to find out...
Read moreIf I could rate a zero I would this place was one of the worst places I have ever stayed don’t do it. I gave them a chance too trust me it was worse than I thought. (The first part of this review is on Expedia) the last few days I was there, the manager knocked on my door three separate times waking us up between the hours of 7am-11am talking about put our trash bag down the hall in the trash can (a small tied up grocery bag that we planned to take when we were up) to the garbage can that was like 10 feet away (this happened one time and we couldn’t put it in the trash can the night of because it was full of trash already and we weren’t gonna add to it so we put it next to our door to take on our way out the next day) and then on the last day we were woken up @7/8am to be asked if we were going to extend our stay when checkout was @11am I wanted to cuss everyone to hell but I just left it to Jesus this place needs him amen if you don’t got the money to get something better stay at home I beg you it’s not worth it.😮💨😭 nothing in the gym worked by the way it’s just there for tips and giggles 😮💨 I’m going to add that when we initially checked in everyone seemed ok and when we brought up issues about the first room the manager didn’t give push back and just gave us a new room though we had to keep checking on it and they kept giving us the run around on it but after checking multiple times they finally moved us the second day and it went downhill from there the location where the hotel was at was perfect because it was close to family but I think I’ll take the latter next time it just wasn’t worth it. The last night they stopped answering my husband’s phone call and I had to call with mine for them to answer (because the key cards to the rooms stop working sometimes and they do it have a 24hour desk worker just a phone number to call) not sure if it’s related but it felt like it was. On a positive note the beds were surprisingly comfortable so...

Absolute ZERO stars for the hotel and the staff. Went for a stay 21 Nov assuming a decent one and found it's the most disgusting place ever. I was in the room where it smelled like smoke when I turned on the AC. As a courtesy I was moved to another room by Chanel the manager. But the other room had everything broken in it. The lamp had no cover no bulb, microwave handle broken God knows how to open it, all drawer handles broken also within the washroom hooks were broken and a big hole in the door. The manager promised to fix the basic things so that it becomes usable, but there was no movement at all. What a unpleasant view it was. The place looked totally shady and it's a totally unsafe feel when you walk at the hotel corridor. The carpet in the room was disgusting and coz of all of this I just decided to checkout ASAP. Reaching at the counter they refused for a refund stating I have booked from third party Expedia. After talking to Expedia when they called the hotel I was right there at the front desk and saw a worker lying on the phone that the manager Chanel is not present right now and will be available next day. She was standing right there right in front of me. I had to wait for almost an hour to get a receipt of the refund. Till date 21 Dec it's been 30 days and they're still saying the refund is processed and you have to check with your bank. There's no pending or posted transaction on my account I will have to file a dispute to get that amount back. And on top of that they are not at all helpful when I said I did not receive the refund. They are a total fraud do not ever ever stay here ultimate waste of money and efforts.
I waited and didn't put up a review but as I haven't gotten it yet thought I'd just make them famous by the truth. I'll make sure I get the refund and this review reaches maximum people so that their money...
