There is no regular housekeeping on weekends. If you stay from Friday - Monday, your room will not be cleaned or refreshed. If you want extra towels, you will be told to go find a housekeeper on the floor and ask. There is no ice bucket, or machines on each floor. There is an ice bucket in the freezer and the freezer makes ice, but you have to flip the button on and wait to see if it works and wait for it to fill up. Or you can take it down to the first floor where there is one ice machine. Our ice bucket was filthy (food bits stuck on, maybe vomit?). Tried to run the dishwasher, didn’t work and the previous dish tab was half exploded inside. Only one dishwashing tab in the kitchen. Although this hotel only opened very recently, it is already starting to show signs of wear & tear (stains on carpets/walls). The materials used (faux stone floor, vinyl shower tiles) make it difficult to keep clean and are already showing signs of stains/marks. We arrived late in the evening and the person who checked us in was kind. After calling front desk and asking, we were told multiple times someone would clean our room, however by the third day, with no room refresh (taking the garbage), or towels, the front desk person attempted to help but it still only resulted in us emptying our garbage into a garbage bag the housekeeper gave us at the door and three tries to get some more towels. Upon checkout, the person spoke three words - did not ask about our stay or anything else. The included breakfast is decent and the room was spacious with two queens beds. In a corporate park area, but close to the...
Read moreMy husband and I stayed for one night as we traveled to Detroit for the first time for a special event for my birthday gift last weekend. We booked this hotel after looking at many hotels in the Detroit area (blindly) and thankfully this was a win in many ways. The room was spacious, clean and aesthetically pleasing. To our surprise, the room was equipped with a small kitchenette which was super convenient.
This exceeded my expectations in terms of value and quality and I’m not an easy one to please when it comes to my comfort and cleanliness. No matter how new or how clean a room appears, I still do my own cleaning and there wasn’t any left over residue when I wiped down upon initial entry.
There was a bit of confusion upon checkout with payment but everything was settled just fine. All of the staff encounters we had, we were met with kindness.
I’m not familiar with Detroit at all so I can’t really speak to proximity or context in terms of the area but we felt safe, it took no time to get where we needed to go so all around, this hotel helped create an overall great experience with our visit to Detroit for the first time.
I certainly recommend staying here while visiting the city. I just hope with the newness, the experience maintains because good things don’t last always but I surely hope so as we would like to...
Read moreThis place is just so disappointing. I expected it to be nicer, and while the “features” are nice like updated appliances, a good pool, great staff upfront when you checkin; the overall place is cheap. First off, my AC will not run if I’m not in the room and as you can see by the photo, the room gets pretty hot when I’m out at work all day. I’m hot and sweaty at work and come back to a hot and stuffy hotel room that takes over an hour to cool down. I called the front desk about it and they said that that was expected and all the rooms are like that. For the price I paid, I’d like to come back from a long day to a room that’s at least 72F not flipping 80 on a hot humid summer day! There’s also stains everywhere and found some broken glass shards on the floor that I picked up mostly. Overall terrible.
Update: I finally went to the front desk AGAIN and they moved me to a new room. The new room I have been in for almost 30min now and it’s also 79 degrees in here with AC maxed out and the temp is not budging. They’re now trying to find me another room. The front staff has been very nice, but this is extremely frustrating. I worked a 12 hour shift today, have to wake up at 5am tomorrow to work another, and I can’t even get a room with constant AC to come back to.
