Overall lovely venue. I stayed overnight for a work-related weekend seminar. Nicely appointed room, comfortable bed. Areas where our experience was lacking:
Guest Room Guest towels reminded me of something I would find at a motel, except a big larger - very thin. Not at all what I expect for a Marriott! The shower seems to be lacking a bit in engineering - water leaks out of the bottom of the shower, over the small ledge and onto the floor. There is a splash guard in place, however, it does no good in stopping this issue, with the way the shower head is fixed and the water falls. Not much in the way of sound proofing from noises outside of the hotel room from passersby in the hall. I was woken twice, sometime after 11 when I had gone to sleep.
Venue Beautiful, well appointed venue. Meeting rooms were comfortable, and hotel/banquet staff attended well to conference-goer needs. Banquet room was exceptionally cool, which seems to happen at these things (always recommend layering). Updated, all facilities I came in contact with were in working order Did not have a chance to use the pool or gym, however, heard by another conference attendee there are Pelatons on-site, and our evening reception was held on the deck near the pool. The pool was beautiful, peaceful, and overlooks nearby lake. Waze was a bit confusing as to how to reach the venue, heading I-45 north. Perhaps I missed a turn, but I was directed to head south a good mile or so, then take a righthand turn on a side street, to head north again for another mile or so.
Check-in/Out Front desk provided a room early, which was nice. They allowed for a late checkout, but interestingly offered a conference co-worker a 30 minute later check out than we were offered, and not quite sure why. On reviewing my statement on checkout, I'd been charged for both on-site parking in the garage (which is a high $22 daily), as well as valet. I'd never left the venue, ans when brought to the attention of the desk, it was promptly corrected. It would be nice if they would let you know that when you're paying for parking on your room tab, to use the call button when leaving. Minor inconvenience, but I didn't know how to leave the garage, except that I needn't pay again.
On-site Restaurant, SwitcHouse Plates & Pours Visited for dinner - great ambiance, kitchen took my food allergies seriously, and managed to prepare a great meal of filet with seasonal veggies and asparagus as requested. Cocktail was amazing, as well. My date enjoyed a ribeye with seasonal veggies and mac and cheese, and enjoyed his meal. His steak was a bit underdone for his preference in part of it, but didn't discover this until he was well into the steak - still enjoyed his meal, overall.
Nearby Area I visited for business, and did not have a chance to explore the area. However, my partner did, and enjoyed walking the lake, reading outside, as well as visiting a couple of the nearby shops. Up and coming area, reminds me of a much quieter City Centre. Feels safe, very walkable, inviting outdoor area, and lots of activities (even free) can be found if you search out information on...
Read moreI stayed at the Marriott Springwoods Village on September 2nd - 3rd. Let me share a little background before my stay. I live in The Woodlands area and was in search for a hotel with great in room desk space and excellent internet. The reason I needed this was because, I was going to sit for a 4-hr proctored PMP exam the next week. Yes, I could have taken the test at home, but my husband and kids would be home and would not be quiet. The proctors for this test are super strict and can cancel your test if anyone walks behind you or if they hear any noises. I knew that I needed to create an ideal environment with “zero” distractions. So, for me getting a hotel room was the next best option. Even though I was already spending $500+ on this test, I did not mind spending additional funds to create the quiet space that I needed. The week before my stay I went around to all the major brand hotels within the Woodlands area to see who had the fastest internet connection. Without naming all of them, Springwoods Village Marriott was the only hotel that had extremely fast public Wi-Fi. I went in and the friendly staff suggested that I test their internet in the lobby. I figured if I was getting 200mb on a speed test on the just the public network, the guest Wi-Fi should be just as great. After my test, I was 100% confident that this was wear I needed to book my stay.
Morning of my arrival, I called at 6:30am to see if an early check-in was available and the staff that answered ensured me that an early check-in of 8am would not be a problem and that they could also accommodate my request of not being near an elevator. I check in, get to my room and realize that the public Wi-Fi didn’t reach my room and the guest Wi-Fi was only giving me about 12mb max. I asked the hotel staff if I could be moved to another room where the public Wi-Fi was stronger. They said of course and moved my location. Unfortunately, due to the hurricane the hotel had an unexpected high number of guest with animals. The second room, there were dogs barking and children running down the hall. I mustered up enough courage to ask for yet another room and guess what the staff was like “no problem”. I told them I would just pay for the highspeed internet as long as I am in a quiet space. They moved me it yet again and also extended my check out until noon. Everything turned out so perfect. My test was at 7:30am on September 3rd. The desk, the chair, the peaceful room were excellent. 4 hours later, my screen said congratulations. I cannot express enough gratitude, appreciation and thanks to this hotel for being sooooo super accommodative during an extremely important milestone in my life.
I think the lady that checked me in was Asha or Sacha or something similar. She was amazing and so was the lady working with her the morning of...

My daughter's wedding was hosted a few miles north and the Houston City Place/Springwoods was our home base for several days.
We blocked 15 rooms for guests. At check-in, the front desk staff ensured each guest received the welcome gift my daughter gave to each guest who came in from around the country. Any time someone can make a bride's life easier, the world is better (and perhaps an angel gets their wings). The front desk team quickly agreed to keep the wedding cake in their local refrigerator until we took it home. The bride and groom interacted on multiple occasions leading up to the event and were always treated with patience as they asked all their questions to ensure flawless execution.
All our guests raved about the service and experience during their stay. Rain was pouring down in buckets on the evening of the rehearsal dinner. The hotel staff broke out Marriott umbrellas for us to borrow during our stay. My family enjoyed the fantastic food at the in-house, SwitcHouse “Plates N’ Pours” restaurant. The delectable upscale menu delivered on the promise of generous portions (probably a Texas thing) of delicious offerings. Our waitress paid careful attention to details and remembered everything.
I did a lot of traveling in 2023 and achieved Titanium Elite status. I used points for two rooms for the three days we stayed at the hotel. I was hoping to get a suite upgrade for the bride and groom. The hotel was sold out on two of the three nights. Yet the front desk team was able to work a miracle and get one of the rooms upgraded. This suite was reminiscent of a suite the happy couple had at a Marriott for their first Valentine's weekend and added another layer of good feelings to the occasion. The extra space in the suite allowed the bridal party to enjoy time together the night before the wedding and build memories.
I am grateful to Brianaca, Brittany, Mariel, Tracey, and the entire hotel staff for making my daughter’s wedding remarkable. There are always a million little things that can go sideways during these occasions, and the team at Houston City Place/Springwoods did a fantastic job taking care of all the planned items and was quick to help mitigate the impact of the unplanned surprises that like to show themselves.
The hotel is beautiful, with expansive grounds for walking, well-appointed interior décor, and a fitness center with everything needed. The location is well away from any noise so it makes for a quiet and peaceful location.
This is a great place to stay for business...
