Houston has no shortage of restaurants. The bulk of them are casual establishments with agreeable foods made to satisfy a large percentage of the population. Look a little deeper, however, and you will find restaurants that serve more specialty foods in an upscale setting and one of them is Switchouse Plates and Pours.
This restaurant is located inside the Marriott CityPlace hotel, in Springwoods Village, close to Spring and the Woodlands, Texas. This place of dining features a semi- formal space with wooden tables, a central bar, and a railroad theme. The railroad theme is obvious, but it isn’t overdone, which is good. The restaurant might have come across as less serious and less upscale had they gone all- out with the railroad theme and they wisely decided to keep it in check.
With the foods, guests will discover many amazing options from appetizers to salads to lunch and dinner. I have dined here a few times and always left feeling satisfied. The burgers are delicious and quite filling and I like how they serve different condiments on the side, in a separate tray, so that you can add only the amount and type that you like. They have a delicious brisket and other main food dishes and the creativity shines through in many areas. You will find toppings and ingredients added that are unlike those found in foods at most restaurants and the chefs here know how to combine these unique ingredients in just the right way to create a taste sensation.
The creativity at Switchouse Plates and Pours continues with the beverages. You can order any classic cocktail that you like at this restaurant, but I recommend going for one of the specialty drinks. They are far more interesting and are the types of cocktails that not only taste incredible, they really get your mind going as you ponder the flavor sensations present and how they blend together. They also serve a nice selection of craft beer here that includes several local brands and other, nationally known craft beers.
Houston is overloaded with restaurants and while I certainly like a good place for casual dining, I’m really happy to discover places like Switchouse Plates and Pours. It’s a more upscale place for food and drink and I recommend a visit and possible staycation if you are...

Our impromptu visit to SwitcHouse turned out to be a delightful culinary adventure, one that exceeded all our expectations! From the warm welcome to the exceptional service and extraordinary cuisine, every aspect of our experience was top-notch.
The star of our evening was our waitress, Emely. Her attentive and insightful service significantly enhanced our dining experience. Her recommendation of the chef's special was spot-on. Chef Alex truly outdid himself with this week's special. The potatoes, small cubes that were perfectly roasted and lightly fried, possibly with a hint of truffle oil, were simply divine. They set a high standard for potato dishes everywhere!
The chef's special also included a steak that was both generous in portion and exquisite in taste. It was cooked to perfection, tender, and easy to cut – a true testament to the chef's expertise.
Our culinary journey began with a selection of appetizers that left us in awe. The roasted Brussels sprouts were seasoned to perfection, arguably the best in the area. But the highlight was the "flight" of house-made chips and the most amazing bread accompanied by three types of dips. The pimento dip was particularly outstanding and left us saying, "WOW!"
The attention to detail at SwitcHouse doesn't end with the food. Marco, whom we believe to be a manager, personally ensured our comfort and satisfaction. His approach, coupled with another manager's check-in, made us feel valued and well cared for. Their personal touches made a significant difference.
Our departure was just as warm as our arrival, with Marco thanking us and ensuring our complete satisfaction. This level of care and attention guarantees that we will be returning to SwitcHouse very soon and often. SwitcHouse isn't just a restaurant; it's a culinary experience that charms your taste buds and warms your heart. A hidden gem that's definitely worth...
Read moreSoooo dropped in for a late dinner last night cause we were craving steak. First off the area is very nice. I’ve lived in the Woodlands for 20 years and this area has definitely been beautifully developed. Now back to the restaurant. It’s nice inside but it is connected to a hotel. Do Not choose this place if you want a quiet dinner because the bar is there and lots of business people loud talking. But hey that could be your scene…just not mine.
Anywho…the food was ok it wasn’t spectacular. The beef tips could have used some seasoning and the rib eye was apparently 14oz but it looked more like 10oz. Both were cooked to order just lacked some flavor. Veggies were good and house salad served with ranch but asked for olive oil and the server brought the olive out and stood over us at the table as we dressed the salad with because they do not have a house (apparently they don’t want anyone snatching it) vinaigrette. Also ordered a old fashioned and double shot or makers mark..which were made to perfection the BEST Old Fashioned I’ve had in a while.
Now to the prices…this is where they really lost me. The drinks double shot makers $28 Old Fashioned $17 Beef Tip $29 and rib eye $42. Total plus tax $126 and change and I tip I tip well because my daughters have friends that are servers. Ended the night with a bill that was $150. All and all for the amount of money that was spent I should have had flavors bursting in my mouth and floated out of there.
Give it a try and maybe you’ll like it.
Note: ribeye not shown because I forgot to take...
