My friend (who's now my roommate) and I tried Common Bond when it first opened in Montrose off Westheimer. (So, yes it's been a long time) We shared a pork belly dish and their known sticky buns. It was love at first taste!

So to know that there is one now in the neck of these woods... We are ecstatic! It is located in a new and upcoming area of Springwoods village. Cute and very modern sleek atmosphere. We were greeted with a smile (that you could tell in tone since the mask is covering face) and patience from the pastry staff. I ordered the morning bun and a sausage and egg sandwich. My friend ordered the lox Tartine and brought home a fruit tart. Check out staff was hard to hear and not as cheerful and the pastry girl. Also my friend had a customization on her order and still received it as if it were made like on the menu. (Oops) My bread was soft and delicious, sausage was fresh and my egg was made to order. Make sure if you get the lox, you have an appetite bc it was of a hefty portion. The fruit tart has no rating bc no update from my roommate but it looks amazing!

Drinks were brought out quickly but not refilled. We sat outside, even though it was hot--there was still a breeze and decent amount of shade to make our experience pleasant. Also available are hooks (caribiners)I believe for furry friend company.

As mentioned in a previous review, there is a concern for a fly or 2--maybe a solution can be added?? I mean how do you not get a fly when you have 4 large doors that get opened frequently. Plus this is a new location, there are still kinks to be worked out.

Make sure to get there early for some of your favorites--since items are made fresh, they tend to run out. We'll see you again Common Bond--bucket list to try every pastry. 😁

*Update 08.05.20--came here a second time to try for lunch. They are currently running a special for Houston's known "restaurant week." Lunch and dinner have a 3 course entree. Food is still great! But Common Bond got knocked a star for their service. Not in their personality (bc all are nice), but in basic industry skill. Still no check up on drinks or food. When came in all those were present seemed to have had their orders with the exception of 1 or 2 parties. I made my order first. I asked for an unsweet tea and got it immediately with condensation and no ice in the drink. Then my roommate made her order and we coincidentally ordered the same thing. I had my number I grabbed a table and waited for our order. My roommate, along with one other customer that ordered after her, both received their orders before me. Finally a busser or waiter came by to ask if we would like our plates taken up and we said yes, thank you. And he only took my friend's and not mine. Again staff is nice, but have to provoke service.

Still working...

This was an interesting experience....the location is nice, restaurant clean, etc.. As this is a walk up counter order type of place we ordered brunch and drinks at said counter and also asked for waters. We go to sit down at a table and our pastries/croissants hit the table fairly quickly and a few minutes later the mimosa and frose we ordered followed shortly after. About halfway through the croissants my son still had yet to receive his lemonade and no waters yet. I walked to the counter and saw the lemonade sitting in the service counter with the ticket. I grabbed the lemonade and began to head back to the table. An employee rudely said to me...”by the way, this is not self service” and pointed to a small sign that said as much. I responded with “ok sorry...we’ve been sitting over there for about 10 min and we’re halfway through our 1st course and still waiting on lemonade and waters.” Her response “your waters will be over there shortly”. Go back to table wait a few more minutes and our entrees hit the table. Still no waters. I ask food runner if he can send manager over. Waters finally hit table. Manager comes over and it is same employee that mentioned “no self service.” I asked why 1st course and entrees hit table before drinks...she mentioned “well we only have 1 barista working and don’t you think we should fill the drink orders that came in before yours?” Whoa...answering a question with a question here....I said “ok it’s unfortunate that you said what you said but I can see this isn’t going anywhere, I’m surprised at your response.” She starts to argue something again and is interrupted by fellow employees standing next to her “look we’re really sorry, we’ll take care of it, thanks and sorry again. Do you all need anything else?” Turns out he was the chef and is out front helping....he then comes back to table apologizes for her behavior and asks us if we would like anything else. He was very professional and polite. He then came back again offered to bring us 3 pastries and again apologized for issues with manager. I give him and his efforts to fix solution A+....the manner in which she (manager) handled customer service was terrible. She has a lot to learn. And BTW we never asked for food to be comped (nor was it) and also tipped 20% for counter service. She was very unprofessional, rude, and argumentative. And when the hell did it require a barista to pour a...

UPDATE: We have ordered here several times since the initial review. Nothing has changed or gotten any better. We have found that for best service you need to order through delivery and not eat at the location itself. The last three times we have had main entree items missing from our order. On two occasions the driver had to go back to get them. The last time (today) the driver went back for 3 blueberry muffins missing as well as the gravy for the biscuits and gravy. When he returned he had the muffins but still no gravy. At this point we do not recommend this location in Spring. Maybe a different location has better training and management.

Here’s an honest review. We’ve been here 4 times within the last 2 months. It’s close to our house and convenient.

Atmosphere is great. Very friendly staff. Very clean. There is both indoor and patio seating available.

Food is outstanding! We have not found anything that we do not like. It never disappoints. We have only eaten breakfast/brunch items so we cannot attest to lunch menu. There are endless pastries. They are awesome. And different. You’ll go back for more.

Coffees thus far have been great with exception of the chai latte. It is hit or miss. Our last visits both of us ordered it and they both tasted completely different. hopefully they can get this fixed as folks want the same experience every time.

Now, here’s the reason for only giving 3 stars for what should be a 5 star restaurant.

Service service. Service. It needs a lot of work. Every single time we have been here. Two times very few customers and two times busy with customers. But all 4 times our drinks came WAY after we got our food. And I’m talking about not just coffee but standard water and juice. This is redundant and ridiculous. No one wants their coffee after their food. And for God’s sake especially food before even a glass of water. All 4 times we have had to sit and let our food get cold and we have had to ask someone to go find out what’s up. Lastly, no one comes by to see if you need a refill. Now in their defense there may be a refill station somewhere hidden that we have not seen but.....

This spot has promise and should be a gem if they can fix these things. Will update after a few...

Common Bond has long been celebrated for its bakery — and rightfully so. The pastries are divine, the coffee always on point. But what I experienced recently went far beyond baked goods. It was something rare, something that deserves to be recognized: a lunch so exceptional, it made me rethink what this place truly offers. The heart of this unforgettable experience? Chef Marcus. Before I even tasted the food, Marcus’s energy stood out. He’s the kind of person who changes the entire atmosphere of a place just by being there. Always smiling, greeting guests with warmth that feels genuine and contagious — the kind of presence that makes your day better without saying a word. That alone would’ve made the visit memorable. But then he came out with my mushroom burger. To say I was stunned would be an understatement. It was extraordinary — perfectly cooked, expertly seasoned, layered with flavors of the balsamic onions, perfect amount of goat cheese, topped with arugula that felt both comforting and elevated. Every bite was thoughtful and intentional. Delicious beyond expectation. The level of care Marcus puts into his food is something you can taste. It’s not just a meal — it’s an experience. I’ve eaten at countless restaurants, but rarely does a chef’s personality come through so vividly in their food. Marcus doesn’t just cook — he connects. Through flavor, through joy, through hospitality. And it’s clear that he’s not just working a job — he’s sharing a passion. I want whoever reads this — especially those who manage or lead this space — to know that Chef Marcus is the kind of talent and spirit that sets Common Bond apart. He’s not just a chef. He’s an ambassador of excellence, and his food is the reason I’ll be coming back again and again. Next one being with my entire team from work! If you’re reading this and deciding where to eat next — don’t go anywhere else. Come here. Try Marcus’s food. And prepare to be moved.

🌟 Common Bond: Your New Go-To Spot for Lunch, Brunch, and Business! Everyone, this is the place you need to know about—Common Bond! With locations across Houston, their City Place location in Springwood, Spring, is an absolute hidden gem. It’s the perfect spot for a relaxed walk on beautiful trails right after a delicious meal. The atmosphere is vibrant and inspiring—ideal for making connections, whether it’s with clients, colleagues, or friends. As a career coach and keynote speaker, I recently met with a potential client here to explore partnership opportunities, and it was the perfect setting to spark ideas. The welcoming ambiance and lively energy of Common Bond make it an excellent choice for any business deal or collaboration. But it’s not all business! I’ve enjoyed brunch here with friends, and it’s just as incredible for casual gatherings. The food is phenomenal—I highly recommend the lemon tart and French toast. For fellow tea drinkers, they serve real loose-leaf tea with a strong, flavorful brew that I love. The staff are wonderful, attentive, and create a welcoming experience, adding to the overall charm of this spot. I also appreciate the bar-type seating and outdoor area for larger groups—it’s versatile and perfect for both social and business gatherings. If you’re looking for a spot that’s a bit under the radar but will help amplify your business and create memorable experiences, Common Bond at City Place is a game changer. Highly recommended for your next brunch, meeting, or just a casual day out. Enjoy! **Lovely Is YOUR Story salutes your excellence. Together, we make a difference!**

Common Bond Bisto & Bakery is a great spot to spend your morning at getting a coffee or brunch. We decided to visit this location & was pleasantly surprised at how nice the surrounding area is. The location is below an office building, but there seemed to be plenty of free parking as long as you do not mind the short walk down the street. My wife ordered a matcha latte, a cinnamon & sugar croissant, & a French onion soup. I ordered a vanilla latte, the turtle brownie, & the chefs scramble. Between us, the total was $47, so this is a bit pricey compared to usual brunch locations. We ordered the lattes iced, but they were delivered hot. We didn't mind as they were good. The turtle pastry was rich but full of flavor. It had a nice balance between the dark chocolate & pecans, with neither being too overwhelming. The chef scramble featured scrambled eggs with fresh veggies cooked in them, which was a nice twist. The bacon & biscuit weren't anything special, but the potatoes were delicious. It was almost like a hashbrown casserole but fried. The interior of the bakery was very modern & had a relaxing environment even with all of the seats being filled. The art, lights, & plants added a nice touch to the experience. Overall, we enjoyed our experience & would recommend having brunch here on a Sunday morning.
