If you're planning a trip to Springfield you owe it to yourself to book a room here. My family took a mini-trip and stayed in Suite 200 (the Orchid Suite) for 2 nights. This Inn has character! It is an historic building, so keep in mind it isn't a new hotel. Instead it is a surprisingly large, totally charming building. There are a couple suites which include a really pleasant veranda with a table and chairs and a gas fireplace that you are welcome to use. The building is old, so there are some creaks, and sound travels but beyond a little hallway noise it isn't disruptive. I see reviews complaining about the furniture, but it is antique style and keeps up with the theme of the whole Inn (and it was comfortable.) The bathroom was fun, with the older style but also a Jacuzzi tub (the 3 of us didn't have issues running out of hot water in the mornings either.) Breakfast is included, and while there is only 1 food option (day 1 was quiche, day 2 scrambled eggs) the food was good. There is a nice coffee station that offers several types of tea as well as flavored syrup to add to coffee. At 5pm there is a cheese and grape tray and a glass of wine is included (you can buy more.) I'm not a wine person but the cabernet was good as far as I can tell. Possibly the best part is the basket of chocolate chip cookies delivered to your door every night (still warm, not tollhouse either, they bake them there.) The Inn is just a couple blocks from downtown and all the touristy things you do on trips like this, very convenient. The only disappointment is that I read the Inn is haunted, and I didn't run into any ghosts, but hey, I can dream right? Really a great find, it adds so much flavor to...
Read moreInn at 835 made my short visit to Springfield much much more exciting! If you are not a fan of generic, corporate chain hotels, Inn at 835 would be your thing! We stayed here only for one night, but felt like we should have stayed for another night!! First of all, the historic building itself is attractive. It is beautifully decorated overall, let alone the individual guest rooms. We stayed at the Lily Room, which was just gorgeous. We just love the way the room is decorated, especially with a nice personal and homely touch. (Imaging you are staying at a hotel room that just makes you feel like home!) Second, great hospitality! We checked into the hotel in the late afternoon and was immediately welcomed by the staff. We were promptly brought to our room. Now we are still in the pandemic, so it is a shame that we could only get a continental breakfast prepared in advance and put in the shared fridge. (I have read so many great reviews on how good the breakfast was made by Melissa. :) ) But the continental breakfast we got the next day was still good! We decided what we wanted to have based on the breakfast list when we checked in. We could get as many items as we want from the list, including bagels, scones, macaroons, Danish, muffins, etc. There are also milk, juice, yogurt to choose. We brought our breakfast back to our beautiful room and we still had a great time! :) Last but not the least, the jacuzzi in our room!! Get a room with a jacuzzi to enhance your stay!! If it was not because we were following a strict itinerary, we would like to stay another night and spend more time feeling this beautiful hotel more!! We definitely will come back to Inn 835 next time when we stop by...
Read moreMy boyfriend and I checked in here expecting a great experience. It turns out he was trying to surprise me with a romance package they had to offer. It was supposed to include romantic music upon entering, rose petals on the bed, and champagne and strawberries in the room. They even called earlier in the day to confirm our arrival time. Well they forgot. The lady checking us in was trying to tell him right in front of me that nothing was ready, without giving the surprise away but of course I figured it out. As she kept talking my boyfriend became red in the face obviously frustrated that his plan was ruined. She did offer us a room INSIDE the place because the one we booked apparently was down the street. It wasn't an upgrade, it was the same price for the room. I think because she didn't want to carry the champagne and strawberries that were supposed to be in the room already all the way down the street. So we got up to the room and the side table lamp was missing and there was only one bottle of water. She said she would bring those items and of course never did. Never checked in with us after the fact. And I just found out they still charged my boyfriend the full price for that romance package that they half did. ( she finally brought the strawberries and champagne as we were getting settled) my boyfriend was so bummed I felt so bad. They couldn't care less. She even said as she was fumbling around " I hope this doesn't give us a bad mark " but didn't care beyond that. Also said there was wine and cheese service from 5-7 pm. Went down at 640 before dinner and there was nothing to be found. Very...
