Had some unfortunate events happen on our trip to Springfield which cut our trip short, which was not at all the owners fault or even where we stayed. We stayed at the Fil er Up gas station which is the biggest room they have .. and used to be the old gas station. It was super cute, and cozy. They had water in the fridge and snacks to accommodate the guest they knew they were going to have -I had my son with me who is 12. The owners were both very sweet and waiting in the picnic area when I Arrived. I had literally just got in an argument with my 15 year old daughter which caused me to blubber cry and Phyllis was very sweet and gave me a hug and reassured me it’s most teen girls this age lol! And that it would get better. We hope to stay there every time we come through Springfield this year. My son even said “ he loved this place better than any hotel he’s been to, because it’s homey feeling! “ and I loved that he appreciated that. Phyllis walked us through and explained the history to my son and I and gave him post cards to save. Which we have hanging up on the refrigerator at home. Can’t wait to be back and try the other cottages! Thank you, Phyllis and Tim for having us, and I hope next time we can catch up and hang out on the patio! If you’re hesitant to book this little gem hidden away in Springfield , MO because it’s a “MOtel” I say you’re missing out on an actual experience and you need to book this place now!!! It was clean and reasonably priced too! Check out all the rooms because each room is themed differently and offers...
Read moreThis is not your run of the mill motel... this is a boutique experience on old Route 66.If you like the old cars and the nostalgia of route sixty six rockwood motor court is the place for you to stay on your next visit to springfield. slightly out of the way of a lot of the goings on in the city , but a nice little quiet strip of road , where the owner Phyllis absolutely takes care of you and when you see the way that she keeps the property. You will be absolutely amazed. The rooms are literally nearly 100 years old. They took the time to refurbish them and ensure There was added electric and plumbing and things to them. They keep the place immaculate. The rooms are pretty well appointed. They are a bit basic they're not at anything that's on par with today's hotel standards. But again you're staying in a 100-year-old room on a historic road. Cute kind of kitschy and frankly well wortg your time to stop next time you're in Springfield. Consider spending the night here..reading all of the history reading the placards every room apparently has postcards, and such from historical places that were on Route 66 thoroughly enjoyed my night on their property and look forward to staying...
Read moreWe usually stay at big chains when we travel. However, my husband and I were planning an overnight get away and when we searched for Springfield hotels, the Rockwood was by far the highest rated hotel! Over and over other reviewers mentioned Phyllis, the owner, and how incredible she was as a hostess. My husband and I looked at each other and said, “Ok, we’ve got to meet Phyllis and see this place for ourselves!” ||The reviews were 100 percent true! Phyllis is a gracious, personable hostess who treats those staying at the Rockwood like guests and friends, not customers. We enjoyed chatting with her and her husband, Tim in the evening. How many places have you chatted with an owner lately?||The rooms themselves are all renovated and restored, each with a different theme. Our room was themed films from the 1940s-1950s and it was absolutely lovely! Perfect for a couple’s get-a-way! The pictures online don’t do the rooms or the property justice. Everything is immaculate, clean, and well-cares for. ||I would not only recommend this property without hesitation, I plan...
