I am writing from Toronto, Canada. I had stayed at Lehmann House a long time ago back in 1996 and I had an extended stay there, about 5 months, because I was working for a company in St Louis that placed my accommodation there, and it's a wonderful home I never forgot. I stayed in a room on the 3rd floor though I can't remember the name of the room. The owners of the house, Marie and Mike, were two wonderful people who made my stay so homey and welcoming, and her scones and breakfasts she made were just out of this world, and by a crackling fireplace in the dining room. I remember it was autumn in St Louis. The air and the ambience was spectacular, with the leaves changing, and the house had popularity with the trick or treaters at Halloween, with its haunted history and all, as I learned over a glass of wine one night during a thunder storm by candlelight as the power went out. We chatted in the parlour listening to Marie tell us about ghostly happenings she and her husband had experienced in the house all while thunder and lightening lit up in the windows of the parlour. It was magical!!! Yes I greatly hope to stay there again if I ever get to St Louis again. It has a romantic, historic, Victorian spooky ambience to it that is decadent at the same time, with cozy beds and . . . What else can I say??? Lehmann House was home to me for a while, and I loved it. Ghosts you ask?? . . . That's another...
Read moreI found a treasure in this Bed and Breakfast, Lehmann House. It wasn’t just a place to sleep and eat, it was a delightful experience. I love history, architecture, and walks in the park. The craftsmanship in this home is just beautiful, the history wonderful, the host 💕Marie Davies was talented, intelligent, interesting, and what a cook. Our breakfast was just the most elaborate presentation and absolutely delicious. Hotel breakfast don't hold a candle to it. The company was warm, friendly and conversational over breakfast. She had a well stocked library that could pique anyone’s interest. The rooms were spacious, comfortable and held with the architectural period theme mostly. The bathroom was smaller than a hotel bathroom, as expected for the age of the house. It was updated in tile, and very clean and well stocked. The house is located in a quite, historic neighborhood, a short walk across from Lafayette Park. No traffic noise at all. We were fortunate enough to book on a weekend with a free concert in the park. I've already told my family and friends all about it and we have it in our travel plans to visit again. Whether you’re local or far, treat yourself to this experience. You...
Read moreMy son and I booked a one night stay at the Lehmann House to celebrate his high school graduation. It was a phenomenal stay. Upon arrival we were greated by Marie and she gave us a history of the house along with our room keys. Marie was awesome!!! We loved her stories and hearing her experiences. And the breakfast, she prepared was awesome!!! I am never going to stay downtown St. Louis again.
Our room was filter clean and furnished with lots of period pieces. The bed was more comfortable than my bed at home.
Now, the main reason we ended up at the Lehmann House was the possibility of having a ghost adventure. My son is very much into that activity and it was great walking the halls and common areas doing some amateur ghost hunting. Unfortunately that meant we were using phone apps to detect and they probably weren't super accurate. But, we will be better prepared next time. Our only unexplainable experience was waking up at 4:00 am to the really strong smell of coffee in our room. We don't drink coffee and we're assured nobody was brewing at that hour.
Despite no luck with ghost hunting, the Lehmann House may be my favorite place to stay when...
