Absolutely horrible. My husband and I were in our car for 48 hours straight having to drive back and forth to Mississippi, and then back up to NJ for a funeral. We checked into the hotel around 2AM, and were happy and thankful to have gotten a good deal on a king w/ sofa (because the receptionist made a mistake about 2 Queens having the sofa, so she gave us the same rate on the king w/ sofa). We were assured that if we called about extending before 8AM, we could book the room another night. My husband always has to check emails for work around 7:30AM, so he planned on calling beforehand. However, at 4:30AM after having JUST fallen asleep, the phone rang that we had to be out by 11AM because apparently someone had booked it. They offered us a queen room, despite me telling the woman 3 times that I need the sofa for my back, especially after driving all that time. Three times I had to tell her and she still didn't understand what was wrong with the queen room. She kept arguing with me, rolling her eyes, that there was a queen room available, shaking her head as though she didn't understand my need for a sofa bed for my back. Well, when you have 2 slipped discs in your back, sometimes a bed isn't comfortable anymore and you have to make changes in order to sleep. So, after paying $189 for a 7 hour stay of only 1 hour of sleep (we barely slept after the phone call disrupted us and we were so mad about having to leave on the road again with no adequate recovery time), and subtract 2 hours of time bringing our stuff from the vehicle to the room and then from the room back to the vehicle only a few hours later... they gave us 10000 marriot points for a reimbursement of a whopping ~$50. Thanks. Thank you for causing us so much distress and then leaving us to go back out onto the road to find a hotel on a Saturday night after hardly any sleep... and not finding any vacancies in the entire 50 miles radius and we had to sleep in the vehicle. Absolutely terrible service, rude people, and just zero hotel management skills whatsoever. Other than that, the hotel was nothing special. Just another Marriot that makes you sick with the smell of too much toxic cleaning solution filled with noxious fragrances to cover up the...
Read moreThe first room I was checked into had hair on the bed sheet and pillow cases, indicating that the sheets and pillowcases were not changed after the previous use by the previous guest. I asked to be moved to a different room on a different floor hoping it was serviced by a different housekeeper. This second room also had hair on the pillow cases and had a fly in the bathroom wall in the middle of January in the freezing cold. The bathroom sink was also getting blocked and the water was not flowing through. I then asked to be moved back to the original room and asked for clean sheets and pillow cases and I made my bed by myself. I used the treadmill and the little TV on top of the treadmill did not work. The fitness room strongly smelled of mold. I had asked for a late checkout on my second day there, as I had to go to Morristown in New Jersey for a work meeting. I got back to my room (after taking a new card key from the front desk), loaded the cart, and went to the car to load my first round of belongings. While I was loading the car (I had not checked out with the front desk at this time) in the porch in the view of the front desk, the housekeeper entered the room and threw all my food from the fridge into the garbage (as I had not yet got the chance to pack it and was on my way back to the room to pack in and take my second round of belongings to the car). The housekeeper also threw away my phone charger and ear muffs into the garbage. The point also to note is that while she threw away all my food, tupperware, charger, ear muffs away into the garbage, she kept my beer cans, cider can, and pepsi cans for herself in a clean bag on her cart. When I confronted her about all my missing food and belongings, she said that she had found nothing in the room and she had no idea what I was talking about. I called the front desk from the room phone to complain and they told me that they had told her to go behind my back and clean out the room before I had even checked out. I was really traumatized by dirty rooms, and the horrible behavior from the front desk and housekeeping staff at your hotel and think that this behavior is totally unacceptable towards any guest, specially a...
Read moreMy wife and I along with our 11 year old twin girls recently spent a night at the Fairfield Inn & Suites Stroudsburg Bartonsville/Poconos en route to New York City after a full day on the road. That said, here was the experience we took away from it:||Lobby/first impression - We walked in to a spacious, comfortable and clean lobby that presented vey well before being greeted by the very friendly front desk staffer. She had us sorted and checked in in no time. Five stars all round.||Location – Excellent location for all those looking for a rest right off the I-80. Being close to restaurants and shops in the immediate area is also a big plus where convenience is concerned. Hard to beat its access right off the highway for easy in and out of the area. ||Rooms – Exceptionally clean and comfortable, and providing all the necessities for a one night's stay. Zero complaints here, with the usual amenities expected from a hotel of this class included. Five stars.||Other stuff: The complimentary breakfast was a plus for getting our girls fed and on the road, located to the rear of the hotel lobby past the front desk. A very comfortable space with a relaxed vibe and big windows that made it a great way to start the day. Items included a cereal, eggs, sausage, etc., and ample seating. Great breakfast.||Value: We managed to get a room at a reasonable rate ($128USD), and felt it matched the quality we received in return, and much better priced than some of its direct competitors in the area. As far as ‘highway’ hotels go, we found this to be great value, given the astronomical rates some of the surrounding area hotels charge (trust me, we looked). To that end, we'd call the value we received a win.||The Bottom Line – A well-appointed property, comfortable, convenient, and an overall pleasant stay to report. The Fairfield Inn & Suites Stroudsburg Bartonsville/Poconos is definitely one of the more appealing choices at this highway stopover point, and would recommend to anyone seeking a reputable, convenient and efficient hotel, with high standards for its guests. Five stars easily, based on our...
