My wife and I had a family wedding to attend in Bristow, OK from Dec 29 thru Dec 31, returning home to East Texas on Jan 1. I had booked the hotel in the month of November using a hotel booking site and calling the hotel directly later to make a change to the reservation. Based on circumstances, we had to drive two vehicles (this becomes important later in this review). I arrived first for the reservation and check-in and was greeted by a pair of front desk personnel (Kim & Rachel) that were very professional, but also very personable. Their cheerful mood combined with their willingness to serve the customer helped greatly after spending 5 hrs plus driving.
Keeping in mind that this hotel is relatively new, having been opened for approximately 2-5 months, there are some kinks that need to be tweaked. The ice machines didn’t work, but the front desk staff made the best of it by graciously getting ice in the nearby kitchen. The room thermostats didn’t work on the heat setting, but repairs were scheduled for this shortly after the holiday. The hotel is very clean and the cleaning staff is very friendly and very accommodating with guest schedules. The room is very spacious and has plenty of light with the large window that included 3 separately operated drapes (black out, filtered and decorative). There are four lamps and a hall switch. The king bed was okay (we have a adjustable temper-pedic and to us, nothing is more comfortable). The room included a comfortable couch that is a pull out full size bed.
The breakfast room was clean and very comfortable. The breakfast choices included dry & hot cereals, mixed fruits, four juice choices, yogurt, breads and pastries, waffles and a couple of eggs choices and of course Hampton Inn’s coffee. I think they could add another waffle iron and maybe some bacon to the menus. The staff in the breakfast area was constantly keeping items full for guests and maybe could have used some help, as the hotel had booked several wedding parties during our stay.
The Sunday before New Years (everything is closed this day and the next), I drove my vehicle into town and the vehicle overheated (it was 11 degrees outside with a wind chill of minus 7 degrees). I drove back to the hotel and parked the car and figured my Jan 1 check out was probably not going to happen.
On Monday, Jan 1, my wife and I were eating breakfast in the breakfast area and were approached by Kim, part of the team I mentioned at the beginning of this review. Kim was surprised we were still there, as she recalled our check out day was Monday. I explained to her my vehicle issues and the fact businesses weren’t open until the next day. Kim made a call to a friend (John) that works at a local vehicle repair business (Newman Tire) in town. Five minutes later, John showed up and offered to look at my vehicle to see if he could help. Basically, my radiator was frozen & water could not circulate & overheated. John took my vehicle to his closed shop and hooked up a heater and thawed the radiator & checked for any damage from overheating. He gave me the “all clear” and didn’t charge me.
I returned to the hotel about 12:30 (check out is 11 AM) and met with Rachel. I told her we weren’t going to need the extra night or two I had previously requested. Rachel provided us with a late check out for no extra charge and we were on our way and arrived home 5 ½ hours later.
Thanks to the team of Kim and Rachel and the entire Hampton Inn staff for making our stay very comfortable despite some minor set backs. I would rate the staff 5 stars plus and the hotel itself 4 stars. Once they get a few of the bugs worked out I would then...
Read moreCheck-in was great. Once in the room, while putting drinks in the fridge, I noticed a puddle of water in the bottom of the fridge. It's still not a huge deal, although a little annoying it just looked like it got turned down, and the freezer part melted. I grabbed a towel and dried it up, turned up the temp a little, and put our stuff in. We were exhausted from traveling, and it was much later than we'd originally planned. So without even turning lights on, we climbed right in bed. The following morning, I flipped the comforter off me only to find 2 giant brown streaks, one with small crusty spots on it. Keeping my vomit and dry heaving in, I opted to let the front desk know when I left for the day. When I spoke to the gal at the front desk and asked her to please have our bedding changed, and that I left the wet towel from the night before in front of the fridge the response I got was "I changed out the fridge myself yesterday and it was fine." I expressed that the fridge was now working fine. The towel did need to be taken out, but it was working. However, the bed did need to have clean bedding on it. The response I got to that was, "I'm sorry, it wasn't good enough for you. It could just be a stain. We always clean our rooms." I again let her know that bit was not just a stain and was unsanitary and that I wanted the bedding changed out. She did apologize again and added me to the housekeeping list. That night,I was more hesitant to climb in bed and check over the comforter before getting in bed. It did have a few small stains on it, but nothing major, or overly concerning. I was highly disappointed in the cleanliness of the bedding and response given when I asked to have it changed. The rest of the...
Read moreNeeded a place in between our destination and this Hampton Inn fit the bill. It says suites in the name but that was not a type of room we got. We are Diamond members but there was no upgrade. We did get water and cookies. It would have been a nice touch to have a iced water pitcher next to the coffee as it was 105 degrees outside. We were given hearing accessable room which was fine was spacious enough to accommodate the tool boxes we had with us. There seemed to be a mix of newer remodel items and older. It had the anti fog mirror but was still using small bottles for shampoo n conditioner. Our biggest problem was 1 nightstand had newer electrical & USB ports along with a lamp that had a power outlet, however the other side of the bed had absolutely NO outlets of any kind. None in the nightstand and a wall lamp that had nothing. I did have to trade sides of the bed with my husband so he could plug in his CPAP machine. We did not use the breakfast. Coffee was fine regular creamers. Lobby looked inviting...
