Fourth & James Coffee & Sub Shop — Restaurant in Stroud

Last week, a trip took me through Stroud, and since it was coffee o'clock in the afternoon, I stopped by Fourth & James , located on Fourth Street (and 8th Ave).

This is a nice coffee and sub shop with fast service and locally roasted coffees. The owners, the Orrs, have a background with great coffee -- Chris grew up in Guatemala on and around coffee farms. They have a nice selection of coffee and coffee adjacent drinks, as well as seasonal drinks, and Lotus and Italian Soda drinks. I (of course) opted for a Guatemalan coffee with an espresso double shot...it was very smooth, not bitter or acidic, full bodied coffee. Very reminiscent of that one house blend from Cafe Cafe in Antigua or a Doble Americano from Pattzi :)

They also have a great breakfast menu, including chorizo burritos and acai bowls, depending upon which side of the healthy breakfast scale you are on. (Yes, a chorizo taste tour is scheduled...)

And, for the 'sub' portion of the Coffee & Sub shop, they offer a variety of subs, and you can even BYOS (build your own sub).

If you are in the Stroud, America area, or passing through on Route 66 or Turner, take a quick Taste Tour Detour to Fourth & James and grab a coffee, sub, or chorizo burrito...

When I moved here about five years ago, I remember thinking how neat it would be if our town had a place like this…and now we finally do! This coffee shop has become such a bright spot in the community. The staff are always kind and welcoming, the drinks and food are high quality, and they even have a mobile drive-through lane for extra convenience. I love that they turned the old bank into something so inviting it makes it feel both unique and familiar. Such a great addition...

First time eating here. Amazing food! The burritos have a unique taste love it!!. The iced latte was fantastic not too sweet like most places, it was perfect in my opinion. I will continue to try the food. I do wish the crew would smile more I felt like I was not welcomed and it's so awkward but at the end I think the lady heard me and she started being nice...so overall great place- I'd definitely try...
